    I don't know if this is true, but it occurred to me that the album title "King of Everything", which occurs in these songs, is a reference to Pindar, "Custom is the king of everything". This is often taken to express the fact that so much of our perceptions of things and each other is shaped by the arbitrary customs and conventions of our society. Convention (nomos in Greek) tells us we should hate these people because of their race or religion; that rich people are better than poor people; that we ought to do things one way rather than another way that others do it, and their way is wrong. Herodotus uses the example of funeral customs: one culture burns their dead, another ritually eats them. Which is right? Do we hate and despise those who have a different way? Many Greek philosophers, especially the Cynics like Diogenes, rejected these attitudes as arbitrary and against nature, irrational in the face of our shared humanity.
    I don't know if this is what they had in mind, but if they did, it is genius, and it fits the theme of the album perfectly, IMO!

    Great reaction JW, so many reactors do not react to Prologue or Beggars Dance, and that's a shame because they would see that Jinjer can basically play any style they want and sound amazing at it. The drummer for these tracks and the entire King of Everything album is Dmitry Kim, he was the drummer before Vlad. He is still involved with Jinjer mostly in the sound engineering side of them and remains friends with the band. He was actually in the studio with Vlad helping record his drum tracks for their Wallflowers album. Lastly it's ironic how you said Beggars Dance had a jazz/bossa nova feel to it, Tati has said in numerous interviews that if
    she wasn't a metal vocalist,she would definitely be a jazz vocalist. Keep up the great work my friend, and as always, stay Metal. 😊🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶🎶

    Great to see you back with Jinjer JW and your spot on with Prologue having a "Building" quality as you don't know what's in store going forward with the album. Well what they unveil is once again is Next level over their previous efforts. NO skipping tracks on this one. The 2nd song Captain Clock is intricate mayhem at its finest, do the official lyric video next then listen on your own Roman's insane guitar play through.. And Yes Dmitry layed all the drum tracks down and toured this album, now he does sound mixing for them.

    Thanks for this. I just love how Tatiana handles these, awesome approach and exec. I know (my opinion) it's just like a tease from them, but it's sooooo welcome. If you have the time, take a shot at Bad water from Cloud factory, clean vocals throughout the song. And the way that "Yeah" melds to the guitar jazz run.., just ahhh..
    If they ever get tired of metal, they sure got a second job secured.

    I've never listened to Beggar's Dance this intently before, as I usually skip it when listening to the album. I find it to be too out of character compared to the rest of the album, and it following Pisces as the album closer. On its own it is a neat display of their versatility.

    So here is the songs lyrics by song:
    We do what we have been trained to (Sit, Stay, Roll Over)
    Hopeless beggars, dance to this beatific flute (Captain Clock)
    If there's a Lord out there, he's just a guest (I Speak Astronomy)
    Under this dome of ignorance (Under the Dome)
    Our boat is called Apocalypse (Dip a Sail)
    Who's in front of us we cut them deep (Prologue)
    Yet untold, still unheard (Words of Wisdom)
    We cherished lives to the underworld (Pisces)
    [Chorus] (Prologue, Beggars Dance...)
    King of everything
    King of everything
    King of everything
    Who's your king of everything?
    King of everything
    King of everything
    King of everything
    Who's your king of everything?
    Who's your king of everything?
    Oh, king, king of everything, yeah
    [Outro]
    Da-da-da-da
    Da-da-da-da-da
    Da-da-da-da-da
    Mmm da-da-da-da-da
    Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-di

    This is Vlad's immediate predecessor, Dmitriy Kim playing drums. Also, their former "other" guitar player Dmitriy Oksen also was present on some (if not all) of the tracks on this album which is why the tracks on this album have 2 guitar parts in most cases. He recorded them but doesn't appear in the music videos for them because he left before the videos were made.

    Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the studio recordings for King of Everything are all with Dmitry Kim as drummer, but Vlad joined around that time with the album release, which was also when they did the Pisces live session very shortly after.

    • @stangcobra592
      @stangcobra592 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Close Dmitry composed all the drums for "King of E" and played live tour dates in Europe til he realized the road of constant touring wasn't for him. Vlad was in another Ukraine band and knew them, it was an easy transition in 2016 & has been smooth sailing since. Dmitry is still involved with Jinjer.

    • @ZachComa
      @ZachComa 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. Kim did the KOE album, Vlad did the live session Pisces vid released after the album was released, so there's two versions of that song out there. Kim was a stop-gap drummer until they found someone to fill the spot officially. Vlad was already filling in on some shows before Kim left, so he was already being groomed for the role, which has worked great for everyone.

    Kim wasn't really the best drummer for Beggars' Dance, he sounds too "stiff" and grooveless for this type of song. The use of grid alignment and sample replacement on the drums didn't help either. After hearing Vlad's work on Home Back's similar style bridge, I've always wondered how much better this song would sound if he played it. Maybe he'll do it one day, for a Greatest Hits album. 🙂

    • @JWSoundworks2
      @JWSoundworks2  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I'm with you on this. The drumming was impressive technically and the guy is quite clearly a beast of a drummer in his own right, but one of the (many) special qualities that Vlad has (which is why I was sure this wasn't him playing) is the organic, raw, "musical" depth in his playing. I've already filmed my next Jinjer reaction and I was fawning over Vlad like he was a high-school crush.

    Very cool! I'm glad to see someone dig into these. I didn't actually even realize that the lyrics are the same, let alone that each line is from a different song. How clever is that!?
    These bookend the album if you weren't aware. King of Everything is a great album. I mean, all of their albums are great albums. But Micro and Macro in particular didn't sound quite as cohesive _as albums_ to me. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing... not every album has to be a concept in and of itself.
