I am thinking of switching my gear out. i been using a BlackHawk holster. I wish I'd known more about the Safariland holster before I bought the holster I am having to use.
FNS40 Only one my buddy has found to fit with a light. Fits the SFX as well. Just have to take out the bottom plug. Unfortunately doesn't look like they have one for the red dot.
James, I;m sure the quality is good, but just a bit complex for me should my gun have to come out in a gun fight. You are right in that it has a bit of a learning curve and a lot of practice. Thanks for the info.
I just picked up a left handed one for my m&p with a tlr1, and I love it. Put it on my belt set up as well. It definitely has a learning curve, though mine is the basic one. Digging it so far!!
My first Safariland rig was an all leather Sam Brown rig with a thumb break holster in 1974. I carried a S&W Mdl 19 and 18 rounds of ammo. That was high tech in those days. Now I am using a similar Safariland holster with a G-Code universal adapter for their RTI system.
@@TacticalResponseCrew yeah I just said fuck it and ordered a Safariland rds off of optics planet. Our captain over firearms and equipment is super cheap and always tries to use “value” products. Our weapon lights are also the Nightstick 550xl and they suck. I’m just going to use my tlr1 and Safariland and probably get bitched at
Thanks James. I wanted one for my FN509 tac.. but they weren't making it yet. Don't know if they are yet. If I ever get glock, I'll be picking up a safariland.
Ironic that you posted this, I have a Safariland in my cart, preparing to order it, and just happened to pull up the TH-cam app first. 🤣 Going back and forth between purely an ALS holster or an ALS/SLS. Is the combo ALS/SLS worth the extra money over just the ALS? It will be going on a war belt for civ/minuteman use.
Not sure if he will respond to your answer or not, I’ll give you one though if you’d like. If you’re using it for the stated purpose, go sls/als. The draw is very natural with both as defeating the SLS will drop your thumb in place for the ALS. You might loose 0.1 seconds on the flat range but will gain a level of retention and assurance in the field.
I run the Als with the Als guard. The Al's guard still protects your Al's, but it's easier to manipulate than the sls. Just want to make it clear, the Al's guard is not the same thing as the hood guard. You can look it up on safariland, and install it on your als only holster at any time.
My question is do you recommend this over just ALS? Im kinda in the air about the secondary hood/strap over the gun (Dont run RDS currently but maybe "someday") ALS seems simpler to use over the thumbstrap though.
Defeating the sls will actually place your thumb right in position to defeat the als. They’re fairly similar in ease of use but you obviously get more retention with them combined. If you decide to go als, they also make a lock for it which makes it level 2. I have no experience with it though.
Thanks for the vid James! Your minuteman videos and training classes brought me to Safariland. Good stuff. I recently started using their QLS system - total game changer there. I don't know what I was doing before. lol Anyway, thanks again!
Thanks, James for this info in this video. Looking at getting a Safariland holster but I’m a newbie to their products and with countless number of configurations, I’m a little unsure of what to get and not get. Thanks again. Be safe and God bless.
Safari Land makes good stuff, just be sure to expect a 3 month turnaround time for delivery. Sometimes it comes quicker, but patience is called for. Obviously if you order from a vender that has stuff in stock you can get it quicker.
There is a little bit of a learning curve with the ALS,SLS locking systems but once you get used to it they're great. I'm digging that tournequite holder.
Always come back to your channel because you might be the only (high profile) trainer on TH-cam who doesn’t do stupid shit like take a pistol completely apart and only use the lower if you’re going to point it in the direction of the camera.
The world will miss this man and his knowledge. Thank you James for all you did for us.
@Nathan T He did pass away.
R.I.P. James.
That snap into a jump cut was perfect
Right there with you, been using Safariland on duty belts since ‘85. Retired now but still isn’t them.
Got my first Safariland duty holster in 93! Still a fan.
They are worth every penny; the only truly safe way to open carry
They should give the guy that names the holsters a raise. Great job, bud.

I have Safarilands for my Caniks, I just wish they would release a light bearing for the Caniks.
Truth. I want one like that for a TP9SFX with dot and light.
FNS40

Gonna miss you James😢
Digging that mount for the tq holder.
Yah we're can I get it.

I'm very glad I got to know you James. Go easy Brother....
Cool rig. I'm just a little older than you. My first duty rig was a Safariland SS3 back in 89.
Just ordered my second safariland holster, thanks for the video!
Great vid James, I've been looking at one of these holsters lately

Nice holster, great belt setup. Can you please make a list of your belt setup? Best Matthew

The tada made me laugh 😆. Good content and humor.
Have several safari land holsters. They make quality gear. Speedy recovery.
Thank you, James!
Very helpful. Thank you.

Facts. Cant wait to see the belt setup video
Ever seen alien gear duty holsters run through class? Our dept is switching to them next week and I’m not excited.
JUNK

Safariland Is the gold standard!
Thanks James. I was literally just wondering about these holsters.
Love safariland. What kind of belt is that? I'm gana have to try those suspenders
Blackhawk
Safarailand is great. Naming conventions are something else though.
Thanks James. I wanted one for my FN509 tac.. but they weren't making it yet. Don't know if they are yet. If I ever get glock, I'll be picking up a safariland.
Waiting on 6000 or 7000 series for Walther PDP. Safariland, what’s going on over there?
They don't make their holsters for consumers, they operate on the model of supplying government contracts.
Love this dude
James is that the same mag holder you had on your old one? And could we get links for the TQ holster attachment?
I have to ask Louis...
@@TacticalResponseCrew ty
SSIiI. Yep, best patrol duty holster from the 90s.
Dude I have a safari land high ride conceal als holster I love it well worth the money
Great video. I like the holster that you setup with a spare mag mounted behind
and your knife mounted in front. Please do a video on the suspenders.
Thanks for the info
I often watch this video to remind me of why I ordered mine and am still currently waiting on it’s arrival
Damn...
Safariland is the way.
I see you have a holosun. Will that holosun fit the 6390rds if the holster is for an rmr?
Will you be doing an update on carrying a pistol with a red dot? After your video with Don a month ago?
Have you guys done very much testing on that recon medical tourniquet?
The one I am CARRYING?
Curious what your thoughts are on the Blackhawk T Series L3D Iight bearing holsters. I have both Safariland and Blackhawk. Love them both.
Watch my Blackhawk videos.

@@brendondickerson9563 thanks for the clarification, how sturdy does it seem?
Does it work with the FNX 45 tactical with a RMR and surefire X300
What do you think of those recon tourniquets that you’ve got on that holster? I’m assuming you trust them if you’ve got one in your rig.
Really?
Its what I use great holster
works with the olight baldr pro r?
Olight is shit
Whats your opinion on the Recon Medical stuff?
The one on my gear?

Those suspenders are Superior.
Great setup! I've been using Safariland holsters for a couple of years now and they're my favourite holster brand.
Worht every penny yes expensive but worth it
Those holsters NEED that "nub" to be usable, imo. Got issued one at work without it, it is trash without a larger & wider release.

There is a learning curve with everything.
Safariland holsters are great, been using them for decades as LEO
Yep, Safariland is the best.
I have been using Safariland holsters since the late 90's. You cannot dispute the quality of their holsters at all.
If it ain't a Safariland holster it ain't a real holster. The ALS retention is a must when running around in the dark
Be embarrassing if you got your pistol stolen by a tree or car seat
