Years ago in my youth I went there on caravan holiday with my mum and dad and family. We borrowed a car from some guy in Ipswich which broke down in Gt. Yarmouth on the way This was back in about 1955 or so. There was only a small number of caravans, a beach of course, and a shop that was like something out of a western film. A big walkway around it under cover. Maybe a couple of other thing, but not much at all, certainly no amusements per se other than sand and grass. My dad spent most of his time repairing the car and swearing at it..... Gt. Yarmouth Brittania Pier became a minor attraction for us though with the rocking boat thing that I believe still features to this day in another disguise.
Ah, if I'd of known I could of popped in and had a beer and a chat. Next time perhaps. Not booked for next year, may try elsewhere. Lovely part of the country. Cheers.
