I still remember getting my yugi started deck and my neighbor had the Kaiba one. It was so simple and fun. I tried to follow this duel but there are so many rules that all I saw was a card shuffling battle.

It's amazing how much fun they suck out of a cool card game. If I was running a tournament, my main rules would be you have to play with a duel disk and you have to shout and overly exaggerate emotions when you play a card.

Exactly what I was thinking
At my local duelling club we actually decided to do this (yes this is serious) we each brought in a duel disk and if we did not have one we would borrow somebody else's. We stood on opposite ends of the room and had a monitor behind us to tell each other what is currently on the feild and screamed what we were declaring! Some of us mimicked the actions they do in the anime, this was the most fun we have ever had!

This new tournaments and new rules are complete shit, I remember how fun this was back in the days when I was going to tournaments and we were all playing by classic battle city rules and classic yu gi oh cards (I mean rules from games yu gi oh power of chaos on PC, those were the best...), I'm okay with yu gi oh GX cards as well as classic cards, because the rules by which the game was played were intact. I was enjoying classic yu gi oh tv show the most, and GX almost as much as the classic one. But then came 5d which introduced new set of rules and some stupid motorbikes which were absolutely stupid, I did watch 5d to the end but only for the respect of tv show and its 2 previous parts, and Zexal i couldn't even get past through first 10 minutes...
What they should do to return this to its former glory in my opinion is launch new TV show which would be a sequel to yu gi oh GX, with characters from classic and gx tv show alive, but not story revolving around them, with classic battle city rules (yugioh power of chaos game rules), and start running irl tournaments by those rules aswell...

Navis What I meant by "new rules" is that I don't like option of synchro summoning monsters like in 5ds and which ever new rules of summoning monsters they introduced in zexal. I would rather stick to basic type of summoning stronger monsters like in original yugioh and GX (e.g. 5 or 6 star monsters require sacrifice of 1 monster, 6+ stars require 2 monsters etc....)

This game used to be a lot more fun when the cards were simple and the rules were basic. All that extra content ruined the game, up to the point where I don't even feel like playing it anymore.

It's gotten more difficult to learn or relearn, but once you do, its really awesome!! It makes the game more skill based. I think it's still a lot of fun and perhaps you could try yugioh pro! =)

YugiohDaily There are a few build but the deck is pathetic now. Easy to stop, cannot search another copy of themselves, inconsistent draw engines, instant lose to Ophion, no room for techs, no room to add side deck cards. There are much better decks now.

It's so stupid when you can when a duel in 1-2 turns. that's completely bogus. I liked when cards could mix and match, you were faced with any situation and had that one card that would turn the match around. Maybe it was a random effect monster, or a spell/trad card you didn't think twice about. The new sets of cards are way too complicated, and way too focused on a specific deck, it takes the fun out of it.
I wish it was 2004 again so I wouldn't have to ask what the fuck is happening every two seconds. Back in my day if you had a fusion/ritual monster with more than 2500 ATK you could rape anybody who stood in your way.

I had a Dark deck with Jinzo and Summon Skull as my two level 5+ monsters. I believe the Pharaohs Tomb or Servant was the last booster pack I bought for my deck, pulled a 1st edition Jinzo!! In my tournaments at my card shop had a mix of 5th graders, middle school, high school, and believe it or not five old men with missing teeth. My friend and I were waiting for our other friend and look around the shop and said "what the fuck are we doing here?" That day sold my Magic Cylinder, Mirror Force, Call of the Haunted, Solomon Judgement, Monster Reborn (the actual ultra rare), Jinzo 1st edition, Summon Skull (the ultra rare), United We Stand (best equip card period), Gemini Elf, 3x Spear Dragon, and every other card in my deck and binder lol. Tripled what I put into cards, booster packs, and trades. LULZ!!! brrrrrrrrrrr

It's kinda cool that the finals are a dragon deck vs a spellcaster deck like Kaiba and Yugi.
yugioh uses a surprise and unknown strategy system, magic is a mana sytem, both unique games actually, but most magic eletist fans who rip on yugioh don't even bother to actually learn it, they just want to uphold their status of being fans of the "better game". They are actually different, they use different strategy systems.

I think its good there are less "useless" vanillas and more effect monsters that can do stuff but each effect is like a page long!

I feel as though everyone has a different playing style. Some appreciate the old school style of things while others are more in favor of the new era that has been coming along. Either way... that is what makes the game fun! The personal customization and different play style. Don't hate the player, hate the game! You have people who play to win and people who play for fun. Don't insult anybody b/c your can't keep up. Respect others play styles as you would want others to respect yours. Its just a game people!

If you ever want to learn how to play duel monsters (Yugioh) I suggest not watching the anime to get an idea lol. What I've witnessed so far is there is nothing stopping you from playing the most powerful cards in the game on the first play, you can occasionally play two cards at once for no reason. It's legal to steal someone's soul to make another person battle you, your cards can damage each other when destroyed. Defeating a weak monster can take away 1200 life points while a blue eyes white dragon only takes away 300 life points. (also same monsters but different battles take away different amounts of life points) All in all, I don't get it. Lol. Not to mention you always draw the card you need at anytime, out of a deck of at least 60 cards it seems.

Its because of THIS DUEL that the Baby Dragon Rulers were banned. They are far too good in a Dragon Ruler deck and creamed the Spellbook deck. I play the game as a simple hobby, get a few friend duel each other. Its so much fun to see how much you can troll/be trolled by someone or see what cards they have. Those who bash the game just look at the side that are far too serious about it. Its fun, thats all

Who's agree with me, I think the duel monsters isnt the same now is stupid there a shitload of cards with monsters magic cards and trap, professional duelists playing with lots of effects and magic cards their monsters only have 500 attack at most 1000, and are played fastest duels, what happened to that emotion to summon your strongest monster although this did not have an effect hair? where are the long duels where you and your opponent spoke and play hard to be the best, now this shit seems like an automatic game

honestly people shit talk this game and say it easy to play and this that but tbh it really does take a mental process in which you think of the best move to make against the deck you're going against with the deck you're using. im speaking as a person who came into the game about a year ago when mermail were the best and even though theres always a better deck i feel this adds much more strategy to the game and makes it so you can pull off awesome combos and feel good abut it.what fun is it to win randomly without trying and just top decking blue eyes and normal summoning it for the win...id rather u have to strategically play it out in your head before u make a move.
