    Thanks you ever so much for showing how to do this type of work using the SO tool. I look forward to experimenting different shapes and wood. Also thanks for putting this on TH-cam It allows me to be able to view the video when I have little cracks of time.

    Excellent session, thank you for making these. In future sessions, would it be possible to include links to the materials used in each session in the emails announcing these? For example, it would be nice to know which 1/16” bit is being used in the video.

    Would it be possible to mention also the measurements in metric? Community is Europe is growing and we don't know what 0,004 inces is - AT ALL :) Keep up the nice tutorials!

      if it helps, you can switch from imperial to metric very quickly in settings. I purchased some cutter bits that are measured in metric, and had to switch back and forth for my cuts. Very handy!

    I would like to know how to do inlays where the layers of the inlay weave over and under other parts of the inlay. Like one of the examples that was touched on.

    Wait! @ 31:50 I want to see what he was talking about when he mentioned rounding the corners. Would be nice if you guys would respond to some of the questions.

    What about v-inlays using the engraving bit? Is there a way to easily tweak the offsets and files inside Origin for the negative/positive cuts so that you don't need to tweak the design files for rounded corners or do any chiseling for sharp angles? I was expecting to see some tips about that here.

    Can you start with the 1/8" cutter and switch to the 1/16" to get the detail?

    Where did you get your orange sanding tool you are using (around 21 min into the video)? Also, what are some good sources for thin wood to use for inlays? Having a hard time sourcing thin stuff locally - hoping to buy online!

      Hi Norieko - those are awesome for de-fussing. In Canada I get those 'sanding sticks' from Lee Valley and the sandpaper strips last really well. www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/supplies/sanding/sticks/20187-stick-sanders. Excel makes ones that are available in the USA - www.amazon.com/Excel-Blades-55700-Sanding-Stick/dp/B0019N4TPY/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=excel+stick+sander&qid=1593815505&sr=8-2 They're fine. I suspect you can get something like it anywhere if you google "stick sander detail" or ask a hobby model shop.

      It might be this one: Intertape 591 Premium Double Sided Golf Grip Tape, 2" x 36 yd - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017IET8QM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
      It was talked about a few years ago in the shaper forum.

    How is negitvie offset determine? Is it hit and miss ?

    • @Shapertools
      @Shapertools  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We recommend stepping into your final offset so accomodate your insert. This may take a couple passes while adjusting the offset as you go.
