+Lyn Rostron awesome! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch them. I really appreciate it! We are all beginners at something, you'll grow quickly :-)
I've been learning bits and bits of sharpening, but have never found a thorough tutorial on it from start to finish that described the various methods. THANK YOU for this tutorial, it was VERY HELPFUL!
This is so useful. Been using mainly High Pass and messing about painting in varying amounts on masks. This is going to make selective masking so much easier. Thank you for such a clear tutorial.
Your tutorials are extremely helpful and informative, unlike alot of tuts that breeze thru the information, with no explanation, I really appreciate the helpful information as many others do also.
I love your tutorials I am not a very professional but I understand what you are telling us without feeling as if you are talking down to us I want to become more proficient at editing so my pix continue to get better and better Really appreciate your tutorials
I have saved this episode for future reference. I like the excitement while you explain what you are doing. You are a quick speaker, but that's the whole point of making a video, right? I thank you and appreciate you taking the time to share this information.
As always, a great tutorial, easy to understand and well worth taking the time to watch it. Thanks for the download Blake! I'm getting quite the collection of super useful actions from you, appreciate it! Enjoy your week! Oh and it was nice to see Haystack Rock again ... makes me miss the Oregon Coast ... need a long overdue fix of my favourite place to visit.
Food for thought, some great ideas there esp combining sharpening styles, curves layer to add contrast and "blend if" protection. In other words, all of it :)
Very comprehensive tutorial, Blake! Thank you. Trying to decipher what you suggest where to use which method? Or just use your favorite 2 methods everywhere.
I just discovered you, Blake. I will definitely be subscribing to your TH-cam channel. This is an excellent, very helpful tutorial on sharpening -- Thank you!
+Takai2012 Yes, that is correct. That is assuming you have it in your normal workflow to open as a smart object. The other difference, however, is that ACR will reset its defaults to normal with every new filter use. As a smart object it retains the information from the initial use.
Thank you. Your videos are amazing and techniques unparalleled. If you have time could you make a video on sharpening eyes and portraits. I really like your methods and would be interested to see how yours differ from the standard. Thanks :)
Thanks a lot! Very interesting and well done. Good to have the actions to try them out on one own's photos to see which is best for that singular picture. Again, thank you very much!
Good vid again Blake, but can you tell me, at what viewing setting do you assess a print on your monitor ( 25%, 50%, 100%, Print Size, Actual Size, or what)?
No problem! Glad you liked it. I have used anything from the budget (Bamboo Fun) to the now Intuos Pro. I like them all and have had great success with any of their tablets. At first I did not (and could not afford an Intuos Tablet) so I bought a Bamboo Fun (that was nearly 8 years ago). Either way, I feel they are a necessity! They do take some getting used to though.
are you working with a wacom tablet? Looking into getting my first. Price tells me get the $99 version, but maybe I should save for the pro version. Your thoughts?
I am. I love my tablet. I did buy the pro last year but I don't use any of the added features. For me it was a waste, I don't use the buttons on the tablet, I just needed something for fine tuned masking. It comes down to personal preference.
+EverydayHDR Thank you for the quick response. Wonder if anyone can tell me if the $99 version works for fine tuned masking. The pro is $150 more and that would take quite awhile longer. PS: Just finished applying your Faking ND Filter to a sky I liked and it was so cool. Thank you!
+OneReal Human I think the $99 version would be fine. Really all you need is a pen and tablet with pressure sensitivity. You don't need it to be touch responsive or have buttons and bells and whistles, just the pressure sensitive pen and you will be fine. To put it in perspective, I used a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet for 8 years before I upgraded. At the time I paid $75 for it or something, I use that one as my travelling tablet for seminars and workshops.
@@f64Academy Thank you so much for the class and reply. I recently unsubscribed from Sharpen AI and started to explore your classes. I am so happy to have found yours. I wish I found it sooner.

Thank you Blake for the actions. I certainly use them in my workflow. And yes, you don't have no need for plugins. Awesome. Happy holidays.

Thanks! I do try to tailor them to all levels, the beauty of video is being able to pause to follow along.
Wow that's a lot of good stuff. I will be watching it again as I try the actions on my images.

You can use them wherever they work best really. There is a place for each one.
Awesome tutorial! So pleased to be able to learn from it! God bless you and thank you so much Blake!
What an excellent tutorial, thanks, Blake.
You are welcome! Thanks for watching :)
I really liked both your methods for sharpening and the way you go to explain the steps, very good :)
Blake, thanks so much for an outstanding video, clears up a lot of my questions on the subject. Now to go practice on some images.
Glad I could lend a hand!
I just discovered you, Blake. I will definitely be subscribing to your TH-cam channel. This is an excellent, very helpful tutorial on sharpening -- Thank you!
Like using curves on the hi pass. Thanks!
At 13:30 you say PS CC is only way to get back to CR for sharpening. But can't you initially open from CR as object and go back anytime ?
+Takai2012 Yes, that is correct. That is assuming you have it in your normal workflow to open as a smart object. The other difference, however, is that ACR will reset its defaults to normal with every new filter use. As a smart object it retains the information from the initial use.
Wow, quality tutorial! Thank you so much. I can't wait to try some of these. Subscribed and itching to watch more of your vids - thanks again.
+pauliechops1 WOOO HOOO! Another happy friend :)

+Peter Cohn No problem! I am just glad I could help. Thanks for the feedback.
Very nice tutorial again Blake , may I ask how to you set up your masking brush (yellow with black border and the feathering zone ) like that?
The yellow is from the software I use to record the videos. Camtasia can add effects to the cursor to make it easier to see.
Just what I was looking for! Thanks!
Rich
Wow! Great tutorial. Thank you.
You are welcome!
Finally! found a very informative sharpening video tutorial. Which action suitable for macro images? thanks in advance
Thanks! All of them really, just be sure to selective sharpen you subject. Bokeh softness looks horrible if sharpened.
Your tutorials are unreal! Anyway you could make one like this for noise reduction?
Thanks !
Thanks! I will start drafting it. We'll see what I can come up with.
Hi , Could you please explain to me about , when you say there is a cool option , where and how I have to press , which keys , thanks a lot

Great tutorial!
Good vid again Blake, but can you tell me, at what viewing setting do you assess a print on your monitor ( 25%, 50%, 100%, Print Size, Actual Size, or what)?
usually 100%, but it depends on the image and what I'm sharpening I guess.
hi , love you video , why haven't you added find edge ?
thanks a lot!
thanks! Everyone does things differently in Photoshop, these are just 6 ways, there are probably 6 more somewhere out there!
Thank you for this excellent info

awesome awesome awesome stuff dude
Which method is your favorite? Which works the best for wildlife photos?
I prefer high pass. I use that for wildlife and I mask the areas I don't want the sharpening.
