- Our local contractor baling silage on 4th june 1991. We bought this baler about 5 years after this video was made and still use it today behind my zetor 7341. There are a couple of videos of this tractor on wildyoungsteamers channel.
This is in Jersey Channel Islands at the farm my wife and I rented . Yes I did record it back then because I thought it may be interesting to look back at it in years to come.
@fiatagri8090 Sorry I can't remember, I know the contractor used to use a 1412 on the baler, but when I took this video, the1412 had just suffered terminal engine failure. The one in the video was just filling in for a couple of days because he went straight out and bought a brand new case(can't remember what model) He also had a 1410 on the loader which I later bought when he gave up.
@mymasseyisclassey They were very good balers but this model is now obsolete, I'm not sure what the modern equivalant is. This baler was fitted with a conversion kit which enabled it to use net wrap but over time it was hard to keep the adjustment right so in the end we stopped using the net and went back to just twine. This baler is still in use every year, you may have seen my other video of me baling with it last year.
I used a connon video camera in those days I now use a sony one. I record the video off the camera and onto a DVD-R disc using a video recorder,I then put the disc into the computer and save the videos to a folder. I find the end result on youtube is slightly better quality than using my digital video camera.
@FunOnTheFarm7 Sorry,I'm not sure, it belonged to the contractor,it wasn't ours.
Is that a David Brown 1210 or 1212 baling? Used to have a 1210 myself, a workhrse of a tractor except for the noise.
i baled 1000's of small bales back in those days with a 1212, the hydroshift gearbox was fantastic for baleing.
ya it is very interestin seen how it was before i was even born!! what did ye use 2 record with
Still a bit of a luxury in the old days though!!
i always rake the hay and wait about 2-3 hours and then bale it

all the welger balers from 1990 to the present day are the worst yokes for baling silage ever made!! buckrakes wud'nt leave as much silage behind!!
