Love this! It is difficult to pick a favorite, but that is alright because I find all the different interpretations give a range of insight into the original. I have become enthralled with all things Jane Eyre, even branching out to Rochester’s point of view in fiction. Charlotte Brontë gave us a masterpiece that continues to intrigue us!

But where is the 1973? The horse scene is remarkable because Mr. Rochester (Michael Jayston) doesn't lose his temper, he just swears a bit but stops soon and he looks very amazed at the governess, he had completely forgotten about her presence in his house. It is sweet because he doesn't shout at her, doesn't blame her and keeps a gentlemanlike behaviour - which can't be said about other adaptations.

I think the 1961 version is available on Amazon. I do not own and sell any copies of any Jane Eyre film or tv adaptation. :)
