I have the same issue with the bird falling down instead of gliding,there is a trick im doing and it helped.When you start gliding press forward to speed up ,for some reason it registers properly, that's what i found out by falling way too many times.

If u open craft menu on you char on the right under item blue print there icon you click it tell you where to find that crafter😊

Depends on the boss, if damage only melee yes ) but better to have it for stats anyway
