Hello Cesar, nice spot! It seems to be great & fun for beginners, family and kids. Nice and safe for top roping and rappelling. Is there any metal-bolt anchor at the top? if so, I just need a couple of carabiners/tubular rope for the anchor, right? Any other 5.0-5.3 spots in JT that you recommend? Thanks Cesar in advance for your feedback!!!

      Hey again,
This is Bear Island, it is a bit of a walk by Joshua Tree standards, about a mile of even terrain. There are about 4-5 routes there 5.0-5.5 of which I think two have bolted anchors still. The rest may require building them with gear.
Another popular spot is Trashcan Rock at the quail springs turn out. It’s right outside of the parking lot which is convenient. Many 5.0-5.5s on its west face. All of them require scrambling around the climbers left side in order to build your own anchors-no bolts.
If this is your first outing using gear to build anchors in JT and you aren’t going with someone with more experience and proficiency, I recommend hiring a guide for at least the first day. Joshua Tree has a reputation of being difficult to access for newer climbers. It’ll help give you and your family a better overall experience.

@@wildernesshomefilms Hello Cesar, we'll probably start doing something easy, like pothole rock, sweaty pie and maybe bear island. Not a big deal, but fun for the family. Then along the year, we'll explore other places for climbing in combination with some rock climbing at the Gym. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for your replies and inspiring others to go out and enjoy life as old times.
