I've used it over and over again to help my clients get their systems back up after a lightning storm or some other issue has taken down the Hard Drive or corrupted the data. Where did you get the frimware file
I have a 7845 and can't get this to work. I keep getting Software Upgrade Error. Does the new drive need to be exFAT or NTSF? And there are several dlm files in the firmware package, do I used them all?

Hello, I am Huzefa Sultan from Kuwait.
We have the Xerox phaser 7800 Printer and when we shutdown the printer and remove power cable its firmware corrupted. though i downloaded latest firmware, but how to upgrade firmware information was very tough to find on internet and xerox support as well.
after watching your video and follow the steps my printer has back to the life again.
I corrected this below three thing which i couldn't find else where.
1) Format flash drive as FAT32
2) Create folder altoot
3) cretae file name without .txt extention Forced_Upgrade

Hi sir, i tried this method on my 7120 (its not damaged, but i cant access centrework web interface and i read that update my firm would fix the problem) and when i boot the printer nothing happen. Do i have to remove the hdd or something like that ?

Prepare a USB Flash Drive
Ensure that the USB device to be used has sufficient free space to contain the files to be downloaded.
Create a new folder in the USB Flash Drive and name it DWLD.
Copy the software file(s) obtained in (unzip the file and extract the .bin file if required) into the DWLD folder.
Start Upgrade
1.Power OFF the machine.
2.Insert the USB Flash Drive into the USB connector beneath the USB FAX port ( you can also try USP port on the control panel).The FAX Cable (if present) should remain plugged in during the SW upgrade. This enables the FAX software to be upgraded using this procedure.
3.Power ON the machine while pressing the Energy Saver button. Hold the button down until Download Mode appears.
After a while, Transferring will be displayed on the UI and the S/W will start to download to the machine .If Transferring is not displayed after 3 minutes, there is a problem either with the USB Device or with the USB port. Make sure the Flash Drive is plugged in all the way. Repeat the procedure with a different USB device.
Thank you for the video. If screen is turning gray after showing first page display and I can take print from PC through network means OS is loaded but no display. Is there any option if screen showing gray display the options can I see or change through PC/system?

I'd recommend first to check settings or reset to the default state. If that function worked and then stopped working it's enough to fix it. But if you've experienced that problem from the beginning the you have to install a new updated firmware.

It could be anything, wrong IP/DNS/mask/gateway settings on your printer or something happened to your local network so check it first. Simply connect a laptop or something to that cable and check if it's OK. If it still doesn't work try to hard reset your printer and your last option is to remove backup battery from NVM module. That module looks like a laptop's RAM module with yellow battery on it. Simply remove that module and disconnect the battery for a minute.

@@ElectronicsComputers i did it and upgrade was success but there is a problem in calibration. It prints only 'Before' Page and Instead of "after calibration' its printing 2 error pages with red colored text. saying ERROR: Undefined, Offending command: nan.. Blah Blah.

Now it fails. Is the system secure and safe. That's the question. I disconnected the printer from the power supply, I waited ten seconds and reconnected the power supply. always show fuser error. when i unplug and plug it again it working. i am tried of this the is no problem. fuser unit is ok but still i do the giving problem can u give the solutions.
It's hard to give you some advice with that information. Try to clean contacts on fuser, update firmware or perform hard reset. Check all errors through the service menu, there might be information about failed part, sensor etc

Do you know whether forced altboot systematically resets the admin password ?? I've got a 7830 I bought years ago on Ebay, I changed the password and cant't recall what I set (well, I thought to recall, but all passwords I can remember of don't work). I contacted Xerox, who said the account for the serial was 'on hold' and that they can't help (i.e. for the 12-digit reset code), so I'm on my own. I recall having had an issue with the SD card on the motherboard, which I had to replace (someone kindly helped by sending an image file for that), I don't know whether this SD card issue could somehow be linked to the admin password getting lost ??? Anyway, I'm not interested in the counters, so if altboot does the job, fine by me !

For most Xerox models Altboot solves the problem. If doesn't work, then you need to use Xerox password reset tool. That app generates a 12-digit code using your device serial number and the amount of total page count. First try the alboot, if you are still unable to resolve the issue, give me the data for the reset and I'll try to help you.
I know all that… and as I stated, this was a 2nd hand device bought on EBay. Xerox refused to provide ANY support, so no 12-digit feature code, and as stated, I tried all known and default passwords with no luck.
What about forced altboot and admin password ?
There is the problem with startup in WorkCentre 7830. Long time. And after 10-12 minute alert message RESTART PRINTER is appear. Or if loaded, freezing or working 5 minute and after restarting. I think need to replace HDD (may be it is incorrect?). Month ago updated firmware-cos were same problem. After working perfectly during month-again this problems.
Can we format HDD before installing or during firmware installation system will self formatting?
Looks like an HDD related problem. There's a regular 2.5'' laptop's drive. Try to connect it to a desktop PC and check its SMART. If that drive is almost failed formatting is not gonna help you. Just replace it with a new one 160Gb-500Gb

Maybe your hard drive is corrupted. Check your hard drive for bad blocks or simply try another one.

@@lenawilloughby8827 the whole process takes no more than 30-20 minutes depends on the hard drive. If it's SSD then way faster.
If you're 100% sure that your hard drive is in perfect condition then try to remove NVM module and then the battery for a 10 seconds. Finally put everything back together and try to install firmware.

First, check your HDD/SSD and simply reinstall your machine's firmware. It's absolutely the same process as I was showing in this video.

Yes, I'd recommend to start with the firmware. It should work. Same process as I showed in this video.

Hello, I know it is a very old video but I am very sad, my wc7545 printer does not start the green screen, it only keeps turning on and off in black and white, just like what happens to your printer before turning green( all ligts turn on and off same with you frist)
Try installing the RAM module into another slot. If you have two RAM modules, then try them one by one in all slots. Maybe one of them is faulty. Check the hard drive as well. Additionally, try unplugging the flash module (a small board with a big yellow component (battery) on it) and turn it on without it to see if the machine's behavior changes. Lots of things could go wrong, so it's hard to pinpoint exactly where the problem lies.
my 7435 cannot boot.. after power up it loading upto 3 of 6... then the machine not responding.. please help
check the hard drive maybe it has some bad blocks. if it's OK try to reinstall firmware.

You can reset the NVM settings on the Xerox, erasing all settings and restoring the machine to the original factory defaults. (“NVM” stands for Non-Volatile Memory. In a Xerox machine, the non-volatile memory is where the settings are stored. NVM enables the machine to save settings when the power is turned off.)
1. Press and hold the “0“ button on the keypad, and while holding "0" press the “Start” button. The Access Number prompt opens on the LCD touchscreen display.
2. Type the access code 6789 into the prompt using the keypad. The Maintenance Mode screen displays on the touchscreen display.
3.Touch the “Initialize NVM” option on the touchscreen display.
4. Power down the Xerox machine and leave the machine off for 10 minutes. The NVM is reset and the original factory default settings are initialized.

To update the software:
1.In CentreWare IS, click Properties > Services > Machine Software > Upgrades.
2.Under Upgrades select Enabled.
3.Click Apply.
4.Refresh you browser and navigate to Properties > Services > Machine Software > Manual Upgrade.
5.Under Manual Upgrade, click Browse to locate and select the software upgrade file in .bin format.
6.Click Open.
7.Click Install Software.
The file is sent to the printer. Once the software is installed, the printer restarts.
8.Check the configuration report to verify that the software has updated.

Try to boot into download mode: Turn on your device while holding the button “STOP”, when you see message - “Download mode. Press Stop Key” and then Press the “Stop”. Then message shows up “Wait Image” and then try to run firmware update.

@@ElectronicsComputers nothing on screen just the buttons light up and you hear the machine on just doesn't fully turn on like it stuck in sleep mode. I unplugged it use the test button nothing.
@@antoinettehenry2160 try to unplug your machine and after that remove NVM battery from the motherboard. You'll find it on a small PCB which looks like a RAM module. If it doesn't help then there's definitely some hardware problems. Also check the connections on the motherboard and the screen.

I have the same problem since yesterday i havent start my maching for a 2 week because covid 19 curfew situation. When i start my WC 7845 yester day all light on the button turn on but display didnt turn on and usb didn't work either. My usb pen have a light and when i connect the usb drive to the machine usb drive light didn't turn on either
I asked for a complete Fuji Xerox DC IV 3065 firmware
when i comand print from usb . then popup msge show "job daleted" i have wc 5890 .
Never had that problem but if that happened to me I would reset the device to default settings.

a. On the root of the USB should be a folder called altboot
b. Then inside of that folder should be the following:
DISABLE_DATA_BACKUP
FORCED_UPGRADE
WorkCentre_5735-5790_system-sw#061.132.228.10101#.DLM
c. Power off the printer, plug in USB, Power on printer. Follow instructions.
USB should be FAT32 (Not NTFS). Create the 2 files with Windows notepad and save with no file extension. Grab the Software file from Xerox.com and just extract the bin file , don't use the zip
