      @DoRC yeah true but the new arrma outcast 2023 is not much different than from the old one I think it's just the body shell upgrade maybe the motor setup. Do you think this would work well in an XRT with the new Max5 G2??

    • @DoRC

      Yeah I think that would be a good combo. The truck that I recorded this in weighs almost 30 lb dry which is a lot heavier than an XRT. I was fairly conservatively geared because I wanted to run it on 10S but especially with a cooling fan I think you could push this motor pretty hard with the lighter XRT.

  • @ImAcoastpedder

    Thanks a bunch for posting this. Building a New XRT Slider. First Electric RC. Had Nitro & Gas since the 70's. Ive been trying to decide between the 5690 & 56118 (1100kv) to pair with the MAX5. This is another video steering me to the 5690. Although this being my 1st. Electric, I have no idea if the 56118 would be a better choice. Any info on how the 56118 would differ from the 5690 performance wise ? I'll be running the M2C Motor Mount, 1:5 Scale wheels & tires.

    • @DoRC

      The 56118 will be more powerful but it'll also be heavier and more prone to flexing the motor mount while bashing. I've been running the 5687 in my very heavy X-Max for quite some time now and have never felt the need for more power. Personally unless you're wanting to do speed runs the 5690 should be all the power you need.

    • @ImAcoastpedder

      @@DoRC Thanks for the info ! I just wasn't sure which one was less prone to overheating. Being my 1st. electric, wasn't sure what ratio to go with as I'm seeing people using all kinds of different ratios. Stock speeds or slightly more is where I'll want it. 25/30 with 1.5 seems to be a common gear selection.

    • @DoRC

      @ImAcoastpedder The larger the motor the more power it has so the less likely it'll be to overheat. The sacrifice you make is more weight and more chance of it flexing the mound or possibly breaking something.
      If you're going to go 1250 KV I would recommend starting at maybe 22. I run 21 on my 1100 KV and it feels pretty good for general bashing. 25 might be a bit aggressive.

    Love your videos so much dude how hard is a noob to solder ?

    • @DoRC

      It's not terribly difficult as long as you get good equipment. A lot of people make the mistake of buying cheap equipment and that's going to make life very difficult.
      Pick up a Hakko FX888D with a genuine hakko wide chisel tip some kester 63/37 lead core 0.030 diameter solder, watch some videos on soldering connectors, do some practicing and you'll be fine.
      I know that the equipment recommended is a bit of an investment but the solder lasts a long time and the iron is something you can have for the rest of your life. It's definitely a good skill to have!

    Could you do speed runs occasionally and see where the motor stacks up ?

    • @DoRC

      I used to do speed runs but I don't really have a good place to do them and it's not really my thing but I definitely could do them again. The problem is that top speed is such a subjective thing. Depends on your batteries your gearing temperature tires surface driver skill the phase of the moon etc so getting reliably comparable results is kind of difficult.

      If your x-max is heavy other than gearing extremely conservatively there's really no way out other than upgrading the power system. 1635 is quite a bit more aggressive than stock gearing which would be more like 1235. You can try going to that and see if that helps. GPM makes a 12 tooth pinion with a 5 mm bore in mod 1.5.
      Ultimately though if your truck is heavy the stock Motor is going to struggle no matter what you do. It's sufficient for a stock truck but that's about it.
