I was thrown in the deep end when my manager told me to make presentation in one day I felt little out of my depth to complete this presentation in a day as I was still learning the ropes . It's very much difficult to climb the corporate ladder in less time. I can think out of the square in different plans Basic English is a steep learning curve😀😀😀 Emma very nice idioms I will try to use them in my work place
When she had to change herself the new job it was really steep learning curve for her , she had the time to learn the ropes. Sometimes she felt she was thrown to the deep end. ..from that experience she got to know that thinking outside the box was the excellent solution to solve the problems , She climed the coperrate ladder , she could be a manager in her new company by the time she was 27... (thank you sooooo much! It's such a value lesson for everyone! I love you! ❤)
I just got this job, I shouldn't think about climbing the corporate ladder yet, right now I should just focus on learning the ropes. I love you, Emma! You're such a good teacher and you're so charismatic. With you, learning English feels more like something I do for fun than actually studying. :)
From this video, I learnt that i have to think outside the box in order to climb the corporate ladder after 2 years. But before that i have to learn the ropes. Thanks Emma for this helpful video.
One of the challenges I have had in the university is leading the graduation project. But it was an opportunity to apply the technical and leadership knowledge I have learned in the past, it really steep the learning curve for me!
I was amazed by one employee inside my company, our boss moved him to another new job, I thought he thrown him to the deep end, but he always thinks out of the square, within a few weeks he learned the ropes 🌹 And I amazed how you link our minds with your lessons, massive thanks Emma
I think I'm addicted to watch your videos. There are many things I haven't learnt before. I always find out something new in your lessons even though I learnt that in books. Thank you so much.
I studied English literature in the college of arts , Baghdad , I feel you are nearest person to my ears , American teachers have no ability to pronounce like you , thanks for your efforts .
Hi Emma!! I’m a Japanese, living in Australia with working holiday visa. I’ve studied English with your videos, and it’s been really helpful so thanks a lot!! I made a sentence with an idiom that you shared in this video, so I’d like to share with everyone!! “When once I get a job that I want, I want to climb the corporate ladder as quickly as I can” I wonder if it could be a natural sentence haha
Hi Manga-Lover, my apology for intruding. If you allow me , I wish to reply in place of Emma as the latter is a very very busy person & give some tips in English-learning as a foreign language. Your written English is more than good; you have grasped how verbs work in the three, i.e past, present & future which include the conditional and the possible. May be you could find yourself in the not too far future (if not already ) to make an unprepared speech ( impromptu & improvise', as we say in French ) before friends & guests. Here is an important tip; In written English, we could make nice pretty rambling sentences but in oral i.e spoken, we have to make short phrases, nice & short, brief & concise, no more no less. Your discours or speech would be fully appreciated by your friends & alike. Hope you could still read me after all those turbulences, social & political, past and recent in your native-country & world-wide. Regards.
After my graduation, I started to work at a big company and learnt the ropes at the very beginning. Chances were that I was thrown in the deep end at first, while I wasn’t scared at all and felt it a steep learning curve. I work very hard and always think outside the box. Hope I can get promoted quickly and climb the corporate ladder.
Hi Emma, At the time I joined my new company, I didn't need to learn the ropes as I get used to doing the same stuff at the previous work place. However, I've been thrown in the deep end, and I didn't like that because I was in a charge with a new software product, which I have no enough idea about it, so I was totally out of my depth. When I became frustrated with my career, I decided to think out of the square. Hence, I decided to change my bread and butter to teaching English instead of dealing with software, but at first I need to steep my English learning curve. I'm pretty confident that I'll climb the teaching ladder as I believe in my teaching skills, which are: extremely patient, good listener to listen to students, highly capable to break down any big piece of information to many particles of information with giving examples, and above all of that is my passion to deal with languages, especially English. Thanks a lot Emma and patiently will be waiting for your next lesson ☺. Regards, Ahmad,
Wonderful!! You've done a brilliant job here 😊 There's one part I want to correct for you: "but at first I need to steep my English learning curve." You've used 'steep' as a verb here, but in the expression, it's an adjective describing the 'learning curve'. You need to explain 'what' was a steep learning curve... So instead you need to say: "But improving my English was a steep learning curve."
I've gotten lots of opportunities from many companies and I was willing to join for my new job and I tried hardly to join with a new team or some new colleagues but I didn't finished my formality. Otherwise I was not deserve to climb the corporate ladder quickly. Eventually I was failed to do that. Thank you teacher. Oh! Your voice is little changed.
My quest for a good Aussie English teacher seems to have succeeded. Emma is no doubt the best one. But not only that, she is also one of the best English teachers, regardless of the accent. I have found only one other, Paul Gruber, but his accent is quite a strong American one. For British English, there was one, the one in "Streamline English" but that is antique...Thanks Emma
Immigrating to Canada was a steep learning curve for me because I did came across some difficulties due to language barrier at the very beginning. Fortunately, I managed to settle down because I received much help from my husband and friendly neighbours.
Hi Emma, You are just superb. İ loved your teaching methods. Also, you looks so friendly and this is the main reason that i admire you and your positivity😍 thanks for all
At the first day of my internship being thrown in the deep end made me worried but I' ve learned the ropes. To climb coporate ladder working hard is the most important key.
Emma, I can't say thank you enough for your lessons, due to them I was able to pass the IELTS test and conequently immigrate to Brisbane. Could you please make more videos dedicated to Australian English.
I was thrown in the deep end when I joined my new job. My job really goes well and my team is great but I feel out of depth. Learning the ropes in a new workplace take sometime. Smart work will really stand in good stead to climb the corporate ladder. People who think outside the box handle things better than others. I am in a steep learning curve now.
when sarting a new job that take me about 1 week to learn the ropes, everythings were new to me, i was thrown in the deep end at the first task, but i wasnt afraid of that, by steeping the curve and think out of the box, i 've gained expensive experiences, and now i become a person who probably called climbing the corporate ladder.
when I first time got my current job, I felt be thrown in the deep end, but I try hard to learn the rope with my colleague and my boss, and they always teach me to think outside the box, so that our product can have great improve. but to be honest, climb the corporate ladder is hard to a freshmen, but it was a great experience for them to learn more.

Hello Emma, the English training today has already got me thinking outside the box. I am sure going to make use of the other idioms in my next business meetings. Thank you.
Finally, I've found the context which I can memorize these idioms in! "Heard you have a new job..." "Yes, I'm an executive manager." "And?" "I've just finished learning the ropes." "It must be tough." "You bet. It was much easier in the Middle Ages: the clients were thrown in the deep end and the case was almost closed when they were ot of their depth." "But now..." "Now we have to climb the corporate ladder every day... a steep learning curve if you ask me. Always hanging around." "So I guess you must think outside the box." "Sure. Since the gas shortage started, the chambers have been closed."

Hello, again! I have a question to ask. If possible, appreciate it. That is one sentence in a English vocabulary book I could hardly understand which or where is the suject, verb, modifier, etc. The sentence is bellow. Thanks a million. I always always recommend your fantastic channel to my friends and my students. ^^ I am teaching English language in a Language center in my hometown in Libya. I always get a lot of amazing methods and information from your lessons. Thank you so much.
Is it correct? "The first time I left home to work in for a new company in a different country, I remember feeling thrown in the deep end. I had a better job, a higher wage and a nicer apartment to live but since I didn't know anyone in the city, I was feeling out of my depth in my social life. Even though I had people showing me the ropes in the office, preventing my social life and homesickness from affecting my job was definitely a steep learning curve. However, once I managed that, I was ready to climb the corporate ladder."

Hello, again! I have a question to ask.
If possible, appreciate it.
That is one sentence in a English vocabulary book I could hardly understand which or where is the suject, verb, modifier, etc. The sentence is bellow.
"When you have done all the steps above that you feel will be useful to you, "(close your book and remind yourself of what you have been studying.)
Please forgive omitting the contents of this contex but where I want to ask is in the inverted commas'.
Appreciate if possibly resolve the sentence into its suject, & predicate.
I couldn't understand the structure of the sentence.
I am sorry that I gave you a stupid question, though you are not my teacher nor tutor. Don't worry about this.
At the moment I am studying by myself. And I could overcome this question! I will use your videos as a part of my study, so looking forward to watch your useful one. Thank you!

I was out of depth when I was sick.
I'm learning the ropes on English to be good public relations.
