Great video! And we feel so privileged to have found this group of wonderful people in Buenos Aires! I have shared this video with a few friends and family members who are nomad lifestyle curious. Thanks to you both for creating such a wonderful community online and in real life!
My wife is about to join me in retirement at age 46 and we're in the final stages of setting up slow travel out of a backpack overseas, taking care of parents, and doing van life in the US. There's always a challenge to this lifestyle, but I appreciate you bringing everyone's version to light. :)
I love that y’all found community. I’ve been to many countries but i have a hard time finding community so it’s still a big decision to keep the house as home base for community
Great video! I think I saw you guys (well, Steve) in Lisbon, Portugal in early Dec (Dec 4th of 5th). I also follow "Suitcase and a Smile" - and love what you do and thanks for sharing these other Nomads! I'm not yet in the lifestyle but it's my goal for 5 years from now - doing a lot of travel but waiting for my partner to retire (I'm self employed and can work anywhere) and super excited for the future travel. Thanks for all you do!
That was really interesting and fun! I’m a solo female and have not cruised because it seems expensive for a solo person. Glad you included solo female travelers.
I love cruising solo! On the first day of the cruise, there will be a meetup for people who booked the cruise solo. It’s a lot of fun to connect with others who travel individually. Each time I have made good friends from that event and we spend time together on the cruise, doing activities or having meals together.
Well that was great fun! I loved seeing people we know, “Hi Cris Gawlik and Kate and Dave!” as well as seeing people we haven’t met yet but would love to meet! It’s always fun to hear other nomads’ stories! Thanks Chris and Steve!
Great video, as always! We are nomads as well, very similar to you, Chris and Steve. We haven't figured out how to plug in to where the cool kids are yet and keep ending up on the opposite side of the planet! Though I suppose that's yet another example of how this works dofferently for each of is...we are really letting opportunities and the universe guide where we're going next! Thanks for all of your great advice!
Loved hearing the stories! We too sold it all (without a storage locker) and will be where the cool kids are as well... arriving in BA from Montevideo on January 20. Hope to see y'all!
So great to hear everyone's stories! Those were wonderful guests. It's true that there are a multitude of ways to be a nomad. It's nice to hear how others do it, but ultimately you have to create your own style based on your personality, interests and goals. And you can always modify the way you travel as you learn what works for you. I've been a nomad for 2 1/2 years now and I can't imagine settling down. This is what retirement should be all about...following your dreams no matter how countercultural it may seem to others. Best wishes for safe and amazing travels in 2025!
It's fun to see some familiar faces 😊 In your video you said to reach out if we want to be in the book. My husband and I are nomadic with our dogs including a senior dog, so that might be an interesting type of nomad to include
New subscriber! Really enjoyed your interviews and how ou are all heading to Argentina. Recently did transatlantic cruise. Wondering what cruise line and ship you are on as we are aiming for South America next year
Just found your channel and subscribed. My husband and I decided in August (2024) that we wanted to be full time slow travelers. In November we sold our Henderson/Las Vegas home of 22 years and everything else was dispersed of in 6 weeks. We arrived in Buenos Aires on Jan 1st and will be here for 84 days. We would love to possibly meet up with your group to discuss this very new to us lifestyle!
Not only are there different types of nomad travelers, but your type of nomading can change over the years. At age 35, I started as a corporate global development expat that took me to 40 countries. After my company downsized, I sold everything and became a FT digital nomad at age 52. Now age 64, I rent a live/work space and run my own business in the US but split my time between America, Asia and Europe. It keeps changing and that's what makes it so interesting. What's next?

Have fun launching!
I found this video so helpful. Especially the last conversation about not actually being alone.
Oh thank you. It is so fun to find each other on this treasure hunt

There's lots of us out there

It is great to hear how everyone is finding their own version of the nomad lifestyle.
It is good to have community in this traveling life. Excellent stories 😊
Thanks for the comment! Community is everything!
This is an excellent video. I would like to see you do this periodically when you are gathered with some other travelers.
Thanks, we are planning on doing more of these!

It's a journey of exploration and change, isn't it?
How does one get a digital nomad job? I'm an OTR truck driver and want to explore other countries.
Start by googling remote jobs! Good luck
Repositioning cruise and house-sitting is an absolute no for me, I dislike both concepts, so yes, different strokes for different folks :)
You are totally right.
Agree. No interest in watching pets or living the life of a Reno vacationer on cruise ships. Interesting interviews.
