This is just in time. I was just playing along to Guantaramera by Celia Cruz the other day. That percussive approach resonated with me. You know what time it is Jeremy. Thelonious!
One of my all time favorite moments listening to a jam session happened a few weeks ago, they were playing Caravan and everybody was doing standard straight ahead jazz stuff until the pianist decided to drop a montuno in the middle of his solo and completely changed the vibe of the room immediately for a while before going back to the standard stuff. He got a huge, well-deserved round of applause!
Beautiful, good approach to tumbaos and montunos (vamp) . Interesting to see your chromatic approach to the leading notes of the montuno notes, many thanks Jeremy.
Thanks Jeremy, it's an interesting subject that I've never really dived in to. I think you managed to cram a lot of the essentials in, which is helpful. Thelonius! 😊

Phew! Just made it! Happy montuno-ing!

Yeah, that’s a jam session classic! One more great reason to master montunos!
Thank you, Jeremy. Needed that!!!!🌹🌹🌹🌹Thanxo for helping the Lost Gringo Tribe. Thelonius Palmieri.
Lol! More expertise coming very soon on this subject, so stay tuned.

Awesome. Stay tuned - more coming on this subject (with greater expertise)
FANTASTIC video, nice and clear! :)
I’m happy to hear that, Nick! Haha I know so little that it’s not hard to summarize clearly. 😂
Great video Jeremy. My imposter syndrome is so bad, I sometimes don't think I can really have it.
Hahaha nice, Vegaskid. I see what you did there…
Very understandable. Maybe it helps to not know everything when helping us begin something very new. Thanks Thelonius.
Thanks for the comment! More coming soon from an expert - so stay tuned!
Thelonious … and Gonzalo Rubalcaba!
Nice! I’ve got another montuno lesson coming soon that will help fill in some of the blanks left by this one. Keep your eyes peeled! 👀
Thelonious!
Thelonious lives! Actually, I'm reading the giant Monk biography. It's so interesting to think about him as a person rather than just as a legend.
So true. A lot of the amazing idols we have growing up and studying we’re actually people. I’ll have to look for that book!
Thelonious!!!! very clear explanation, thanks!!!!
Oh yay I’m so glad. Thanks for the comment, Tomás!
Oh, very good for beginners on this field! Way too short about the bass line :) Thanks, Monk :)
Stay tuned for more - I just did a conversation video with Alex Brown who plays for Paquito. I learned a lot!
Makes you wonder...did Thelonious ever try this on "Thelonious"...?
Thelonious
Nice! Thanks for watching, Ian! I wish I had a Thelonious Monk emoji to share here…
Thelonious!
Thanks for checking out the video, Samuel!
