Torch Work. (Old Footage)

  • I found some old footage from before I started filming things for YT. This was shot with my Phone camera at the time. Sorry for the bad quality but I think you still get the idea of what I was doing. For those of you that like less talking, this is a video for you. And those that like less music, well,... sorry about that. I hope you enjoy the video none the less.
This project involved separating these two parts that had been wedged on there really tight. Since We didn't have a vise to attach this to the table, It was quite the struggle trying to keep it in place. Once the Gas Axe was let loose on these parts, it was only a matter of time before they came apart. As you see in the video, I cut off as much as I could to access the inner threaded parts. This allowed me to torch into the material to make some relief cuts so the tension was loosened enough to remove. As I've mentioned before, I'm sure there are 100 ways to do this but I chose this one. Its not a "how to remove", Its a "how I removed it". Thanks for watching I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you so much man! I work for a rail car company 10 hours a day doing what you do here and I spend my free time watching your videos. My wife can’t understand why I watch work after working. If she only knew how many times you have saved me time at work. Keep them coming brother. God bless you and your family!

Isaac Thankyou so much. Watching you work with your work area on fire figured if there was a fiery hell you would walk through it not noticing. There is no fiery hell as no Father would allow his children to be there any more than we would put a bad pet through that. A great man Lazarus came back from the dead and clearly had been ‘asleep’ and had nothing to tell everyone about.
Anyway seeing you work with fire amidst fire is hilarious and amazing to see what you bring out of it. Please keep your work going it means so much to us in adverse times.

@@lawfulldick4158 when you apply heat with the torch, to the shaft, it wants to expand but is restricted by the outer component so it can only grow in length. When it cools however it contracts equally in all directions so actually shrinks breaking the bond. Rule of thumb is about .001" per inch of diameter. Taking material out of the center gives it more room to contract in the direction he wants.
