Kryton: Sir! Sir! They've taken Mr Rimmer!
Cat: Quick, let's get out of here before they bring him back!
Lmao
Took me out!
I love how Lister just eats the cigarette, everything about this scene is amazing!
If someone did that while squaring up for a fight with me I'd leg it for sure
I’m sure there is a blooper of that scene. Instant regret. 😂
vampiremidnighter13 the spirit of Lister himself.
hobanagerik “I don’t know WHY I ate that fuckin’ cigarette...!” - Craig Charles
@@WardyLion Haha, it just made the whole scene. I take it that it was improvised?
Lister's accent makes the scene work and takes it from good to great
His is the only Jordie accent i dont hate :P
@@Laoruperteen18 You'd be seriously spoiling for a rumble if you said that to any scousers in real life!
@@Laoruperteen18 He's Scouse not Jordie
@ Voldebutt So the only Jordon you don’t hate is a scouser? Lol
@@Laoruperteen18 If you accused a Scouser (from Liverpool) of being a Geordie (from Newcastle) you’d be best doing it from a far enough distance to give you a good head start getting away 😆
I love how Binks's face went from condescending smeg-pot to "oh shit" the moment Lister mentions a Holo-whip.
Don Warrington plays it perfectly.
His face expression was priceless the smirk gets me every time Xx 😂😂
"I definitely shouldn't have swaggered up and down being a complete arsehole for no particular reason."
Hilarious that Binks & The Cat ended up working together, on a Caribbean Island, solving crimes :).
Death in paradise?
@@timthewarlord2304 yes
Never too late for a change of career
Binks was also in Dr who as the Time Lord President Rassilon at one point if I'm right.
@@C_0_D_E1He was also in Rising Damp.
"I can't believe I f@¢king ate that cigarette!"
1:28 "Lister to Red Dwarf... Displays evidence of spoiling for a rrrumble!" As a fellow Liverpool lad I love how thick his accent is here. Never mess with a scouser.
Always the victim.
Love how he rolls the 'R' in Rumble. Lister mean business. :)
*Threatens hologram with holowhip, proceeds to attempt to punch said hologram.*
Never change Lister XD
Craig is fab in this scene but can't believe there are no comments about how great the Legend Don Warrington (Binks) is in this! "Unnecessarily Ugly" lol xD
He makes this scean one of my favourite episodes.
Plus the excellent reaction to Lister's mentioning the holowhip!
It's okay. I have it on reasonably good authority Binks and Cat get to work out any differences in Earth's Caribbean.
I could listen to Don Warrington all day. I love the way he speaks. The way he pronounces "delusion" is full-on word porn! 😂
He's an absolute legend. Rising Damp and Red Dwarf are two of the most important (and hilarious) comedies of all time.
"Unnecessarily ugly" always makes me laugh!
Don Warrington, absolute legend. Plus both he and Danny John-Jules have appeared in Death in Paradise.
"Ah felisapien bred from the domestic house cat and about half as smart..." I'm done this episode is hilarious.
Blinks’s face was hilarious
Lister’s inspection was even funnier Xx😂😂😂😂😂
i just love when Craig actually eats the cigarette ;DD
my favourite dish. Cigarette with chips and salad.
Didn't he say that he had no idea why the hell he ate it?
Suralin0 on the Smeg ups tape, yes.
I guess there wasn't a Tripple fried end and child chutney sandwich handy
Djarra not sure what child chutney is but it sounds barbaric
The way he says "chronological age - mid-twenties, physical age - forty-seven" destroyed me. I was 14 when I first saw this. You know that something is a special kind of hilarious when it makes you laugh even more 20 years since you last saw it! 😂😂......jeez I'm old.....
haha, I get you!....I make myself sad :(
Bushmansmeg never mind mate. If you ever want to get together sometime and weep at our situation for an hour or two then just let me know! #OldBastardsStickTogether
Dude your 34 that's not old so ?.
@@kingzilla9859 I'm 36 now bro 😂😔
Andrew Evans I was saying for back then I myself am 35 now and I will never call my self old until I'm 60 you should do the same you'll feel a lot better 😃.
I love it when he said "Chin absent, presumed missing." 😹😹😹😹😹😹
Genitalia, small and unoffensive.
Genitalia- small and inoffensive....
"Displays evidence of spoiling frrrrrrumble" 😂
Interesting fact Craig Charles who plays Lister, just decided on that take to eat the cigarette, so it's not a fake one, nobody on the crew asked hin to do it and he himself isn't exactly sure why he did.
My guess is that he wanted to make Lister more of a badass character that he plays.
i still cant get over how he just eats the smegging cigarette!
Putting it in the ear holster would take too long.
Craig doesn't even know why he did that.
Just eats the smoke and takes off his coat 😂
"Hold my beer" cigarette version!
This was my favorite scene in red dwarf of all time. Just love the delivery, the characters. Everything!
100% agree. Perfection in writing and acting.
What season and episode?
The Rimmer Experience is top also
@@longrider42 Season 5, Episode 1, "Holoship".
Yeah, I know I'm a year late. You might still see it!
Love the out takes of this series. The ciggie munch was an ad lib and Craigs reaction after 'cut' was called was priceless!.
Oh nice I recently bought the bluray 1-8 boxset so hopefully that's included on the bonus disc.
"...bred from the domestic house cat and about half as smart..." I'm done! This entire scene is hilarious 😂! I stumbled on this show many years ago and a real gem.
In the original script, Binks had another line after the bit @1:44, where he says "The human is under the delusion that he is somehow able to bestow physical violence to a hologram," he was originally meant to continue with "an amusingly common misconception in such primitive lifeforms."
they actually do have a holo whip (demons and angels)
I AM GOING TO LASH YOU TO AN INCH OF YOUR LIFE. AND THEN.....I AM GOING TO HAVE YOU!
oh yeah the creepy evil Rimmer had it didn't he...(Shudders...) Oooooh the normal Rimmer wasn't that bad...at least he had no brain to fight back with...
Imagine Angels and Demons was filmed before Holoship, as according to commentary this series was filmed in reverse order, with the majority of the first weeks shoot Back to Reality, so A&D was probably considered to happen before this episode, but switched them around
@@deadbydayinblack AGHHHHH
In the first novel and Holoship its implied that Holo-whips are used by living Humans as a means of attacking Holograms, but in Demons and Angels it seems like Holo-whips can be used by Holograms to attack Humans. Are they the same device used for different purposes, or different weapons altogether?
One of the best scenes in what might arguably be considered the height of British comedy
And unless he wants his derriere minced like burger meat, he'd better be history in two seconds flat!"
Burgah meat.. lol
When Starfleet discovers the red Dwarfers
Exactly!
@@rahulshah1408 and to think Patrick Stewart was hesitant about allowing this but he realized that it was VERY opposite and he laughs his ass off at it now!!!!
when cardasians or romulans discovers the red dwarf
Ho. Ly. Shit that is a crossover I'd pay to see.
@@guyincognito7308 I've seen that interview. Patrick Stewart has a lot of gall thinking that he could have anything to say about it. I assumed at first it was joke but I now think he may have been serious.
Perhaps the best two-minute summary exhibition of the Red Dwarf series' sheer awesomeness...
What a great scene for Don Warrington (Binks). He gets to come in for a scene, hurls insults at the crew and then leaves!! 🤣
This show was hilarious when I watched it in the 90’s on pbs and still funny. Though the later seasons lost some of the appeal with the cgi graphics but still loved them. On a side note the entire series is available on Tubi
Hand's down one of the best scene's in the entire saga. I've been watching red dwarf for decade's now and "the boy's from the dwarf" are all just amazing character's and still keep me laughing to this very day.
Please read the books, they will only add to your pleasure.
Two years later ...
I sat down with this show at a time when things weren't very good in life, and it was such a pick-me-up. I'm fortunate to have a few friends nearby who are also big fans, and when we're together, well, it's massive funny looks from our spouses. In recent days, I was camping somewhere and had the opportunity to put an orange traffic cone atop my sleeping bag for a photo op. Of course, my friends got the reference ...
I think its funny that both the actor who played Binks and the Cat went on to co-star on Death in Paradise.
Omg I knew I recognised him from somewhere
They were also in the crouches together.
Don Warrington first made his name in Rising Damp (if you're old enough to remember) LoL
Lister to Red Dwarf! Intruder seems to be blissfully unaware that we have a rather sturdy holowhip, in the munition cabinet. And unless he wants his derriere minced like burger meat, he better be history in two seconds flat.
Well,he did beat a hasty retreat.
Read that in scouse
Happy 60th birthday ⭐️🎂🥳🎉🍾🎊 Craig Charles
Lister to Red Dwarf
We've in our midst a complete smeg-pot
Favourite line in the episode, such a fantastically well-produced show.
A lot of great episodes in Red Dwarf but this is my favourite. Rimmer is still a smeghead, but shows his human side. It was perfectly written.
Serves Binks right. He comes into Lister's home, insults his friends. It's a miracle that Lister didn't break out the whip without giving him any warning.
That's probably because i doubt they have a holo whip at all.
@@RAFMnBgaming They actually do. They picked it up during Season 5, Episode 5, "Demons and Angels."
@Stefano Pavone That is right. He is bluffing here, but the evil crew end up having one in Angels and Demons.
Krathoon the evil crew is just half of them, how would they have a holowhip if the originals didn't?
@@PureGoldNeverCorrodes agreed
Why has this suddenly gone viral again and turning up in people's recommendations? You tube algorithm I guess. It's a brilliant clip from a fantastic show! Enjoy the views and spread the laughs!
Fantastic 😂😂
We need to make the "Lister To Red Dwarf" scene from this episode into a meme. AND FAST.
spoiling fr'a rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrumble
I love how Craig rolls his R's. 🤣🤣🤣
God, I love Don Warrington! Ironically, he and Danny also worked together in Death in Paradise.
And Don Warrington did a good job in Doctor Who Age of Steel as the President of Great Britain, when a parallel earth has a serious case of the Cybermen.
Lister was an absolute boss in this scene
He's trying to sell them Kenco coffee!
Love this scene, Red Dwarf at it's finest.
One of favourite seasons and scenes
The days when the BBC could be funny. Miss em!
I loved this show as a kid. Could only watch it on PBS late at night. ASI don't live in the UK.
One of my all time favourite scenes!😆
Boys from the dwarfffff
0:51 - 'Unnecessarily ugly'.

I'm ashamed to say ive watched red dwarf in its entirety several times and i never noticed he eats the cig
Best show ever... That is all.
This killed me when I saw it in the 90s.
Just real quality off the cuff revenge sarcasm there from Lister, which then amusingly also got threatening. 😀
I love Don Warrington. He grew up just a few miles from me!
Commissioner Selwyn Giving Officer Dwayne Myers a dressing down. lol.. had forgotten he was a guest star in Red Dwarf all those years ago!
Ah! Dwayne and Selwyn together before Death in Paradise! My mind is blooown!!!
Philip Monihan same here!
Ahh. "Binks" I never realised that was his name. I thought he was saying 'Bridge' for some reason.
that's right, run, chicken, lol.
Holo-whip! Classic!
This is funnyiest scene ever 😂😂😂
It is probable that this was the very episode, that caused Patrick Stewart to initially believe, they were flagrantly infringing upon the Star Trek concept.
When the phrase “Blissfully unaware” became integral to a threat, we were hooked.
Brilliant writing in this scene! 😂
It's funny how Cat and that hologram are played by actors who also starred in death in paradise 😂
This scene just popped up in my head. Low and behold those are a lot of views for this one scene
Craig charles is so cool. Love this scene
Binks is don ewarrington from rising damp
No, he's the president of Great Britain!
nop definitely the Police Commissioner
of Saint Marie
I don’t know what to say sooooo
Sup
Commissioner!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Don't know why i ate that [BEEP] cigarette :D
Because he's spoiling for a rumble.
I was just about to type the exact same thing :D
Best scene ever!
give me this over any comedy produced now
i grew up watching red dwarf. im only 19 watched every episode up to but not including back to earth practically every month. how sad am i lmao
I'm right there with you bud, though I'll only be 19 for another month or so.
The latest season was actually much better then the 'back to earth' shit, the premises were almost upto the standard you'd want and their acting and commitment to the dialogue was 200% better. It'll never be as good as s1-6 but watchable at least.
@Peaches J yeah, one of the writers left... can only assume he was responsible for writing the dialogue for all those years. Did you watch the latest season, which would've been 2 years ago though? They improved a lot.
@Peaches J If you haven't seen Back To Earth, I would actually recommend watching it. I recently watched it again and it does surprisingly hold up quite well!
You kind of have to go into it with a slightly different mindset though. Try to think of it more as, the 'Red Dwarf movie' the writers always talked about wanting to make.....only on a tv budget.....that's been broken up into 3 parts for some reason.....and went straight to DVD....and it's actually quite enjoyable as a one-off film.
The story has an interesting premise, there are some nice call-backs to previous series, and there are some genuinely funny moments in there too. The whole Coronation Street bit is hilarious! The car they drive in to get there is ridiculous and they do a whole 'landing sequence' routine when pulling up, Kryten and Rimmer trying to pass themselves off as northerners in the Corrie shop is classic Red Dwarf, and Lister even meets Craig Charles in the Rovers Returns! There is some genuinely good stuff in there!
No Kochanski either!
Love this episode so much
So good!
Don Warrington is just fab in this.
0:30 😂😂😂😂
Don Warrington from Rising damp!
1:58 Binks was thinking, "Holo what?"
Nothing of value Binks? That's the flagship of the great Vindalooian empire you're talking about!
Recon mission complete, transmit, with speed QUICKLY PLEASE!
Freaking awesome!
I only just know realised the guy playing Binks was also in Doctor Who as the president of the UK in Rise of the Cybermen...
Have a watch of classic and very funny comedy RISING DAMP if you wanna see him in a role he is loved for and made him famous. .
Ye never wanna go messin' with a mon that eats his own fresh cig to prove a point...>,;,
It was a real cigarette. Craig just did it instinctually and once they yelled cut, spits it out and says 'I've got no idea why I ate that fucking cigarette!'
When the character wins over the actor B-D
AnonEyeMouse Lister chose to eat the cigarette, Craig chose not to.
Classic
I was embarrassed how long I watched Don Waddington on Death in Paradise before I figured out I recognized him from Rising Damp.
How do I not remember this from the first time around?
Still walks up and tries to punch him at the end…
Phillip from Rising Damp 🤩❤️
never watched never will but looks interesting here
I like that jacket 😁👍
Lister is not going to take any more guff from another hologram... Craig Charles improvised the cigarette thing...
I'm SO mad that I'm just now finding out about this show
You're not the only one tbf, it's one of the best comedies ever but quite underrated.
Welcome to the gang! I've been watching it since the first episode landed and let me tell you, it'll become much much more than a ton of laughs. It is the PERFECT anti-depressant. Yes, it has been said that a family member could pass on; two and a half episodes later you'd get your emotional equlibrium back. (your mileage may vary.)🙃
Binks to Enlightenment -- Get me off this ship! Now, please! Go!
Coward.... :-)
1:51 they cut the great line " an amusingly common misconception in primitive life forms"
It wasn't in the original broadcast. It was trimmed and was shown as part of the Smeg Ups as a full scene.
