Another great episode! When I finally got around to watch the original Gone in 60 seconds, I realized that the massive final jump scene is two blocks from my house. Kinda cool.
@CarStarz42 honestly just google steve stanford Eleanor sketch and you can easily see his concept is pretty much identical to the end product. Foose made it a reality but it's not his kind of design. He removes stuff and smoothes out lines. The Eleanor GT500 has a full add on bodykit with stick on arches etc etc, nothing like the stuff foose comes up with.
I just commented a long rant about how she sold the first judge the idea Eleanor was a character. I believe he thought the car talked and had lines in the movie 😂
The best 1967 gt500 fastback copy of Eleanor are built here in Norway. If I remember right, I think the guy whom built it,had aprox 10 thousands hours of work documented down to ever single f-ing bolt, nut, spring, clips and screw used. So when you bought the car, you would get like 100 + document folders with pictures of the entire build. I had the honor to see this exact replica of Eleanor a few years back. I worked on 60, the original was brought down from alaska, aka the hero car, all the others were poorly made to look like her, eddie yansick had a field day with most of them, what a great guy and stuntman.
I'd started visiting CVS in 2004 to 2010 during production of Herbie Fully Loaded, Dukes Of Hazzard 2005, few original Eleanor's, and later Ecto-1 and Ecto-1A
You forgot to mention that the movie cars all got independent rear end suspension. That’s one of the factors of deciding if it’s one of the real ones used in the movie or it’s a replica.
love this movie one of my favorites seen it many times love the car eleanor in the movie i love classic ford mustangs one of my favorites this is why this movie is warm to my heart seeing the shelby gt 500 they are definitely fast cars on the road
It's a pity Dynacorn Mustang bodies weren't available then , it would have saved genuine cars from getting wrecked. I'm rarely ever impressed with Chip Fooses customization, I dont like his taste, an original GT500 looks far better IMO .Apparently Carroll Shelby wasnt 100 percent in favor of using big blocks in his Cobras or Mustangs, he preferred the lighter 289 ci , for more balanced handling, he said in an interview that it was Ford that wanted the big blocks used.
I gotta be honest here, I’m not big on modified movie cars but I absolutely love Elenor. Fortunately I already had this mindset and Gran Turismo was a thing before going into The Fast and the Furious. That movie was great, but as a car guy it gave me headache.
Yeah, I mentioned the AMT one in the video, but yeah there was a number of short lived replica kits around of it for awhile, but mostly independent groups like that who probably stopped making them right away after all that legal junk became high profile.

I don’t think there was a car enthusiast around the globe who did not want this car when this movie came out. I remember leaving the cinema’s in Sydney Australia and everyone leaving the car park like they just boosted a car lol
In 1976 when I was 17 years old. One of my high school friends older brother had bought a brand new 1968 Shelby GT 500. He wanted to sell it and I said I'll take it. Now the house that I grew up in had no garage or access to the backyard. We just had a carport which when the cab-over camper wasn't in the bed of the truck it lived on the carport. I told my Late Dad we need to buy this car. And Dad said we don't have any place to park it. So I just kept driving my first car which was a 1965 Chevy Chevelle Malibu SS.
Everyone gives Chip Foose all the credit for Eleanor‘s design he had a lot to do with Eleanor, but Steve Stanford is the gentleman who originally designed Eleanor Foose just helped CVS with building the cars and some of the design work there was another gentleman involved too. I do not know his name. I believe he worked for the studio.😮
Yeah, Foose sure seems to think he did anyway; regardless, they both had a part in the car's design and it's still more Shelby styling than anything else anyway, so no biggie 😉
Another great video, but i will admit that the car jump in the movie was beyond unnecessary for sure because a lot more stunt cars could have been saved and be sold at auctions or sold to private collectors for sure, that would have been a blast indeed and love the design of the Eleanor for the movie remake, spot on incredible to admire and enjoy even for a moment or two.

Almost correct, it was actually a '71 Mustang sports roof impersonating a '73 in the original film, I have a video about that car on the channel too if you want to learn more about it and it's a wild story indeed 😉
'Man, he can drive fast 🤨... probably, mostly the car i telling you the truth 😅' Unbelievable my friend for some reason i forgot to comment on this video or yt thought it was spamming bot and took it down quickly well who cares then as usual nice work with remake movie's eleanor facts carstarz so thank you and have good day bye now later.
Awesome job and I love both gone and 60 seconds movie the original and remake took the jump little to far but it was still good just wish they didn't put it in the crusher
Indeed it was a poor choice too use any CGI in this film, but especially really obvious and such bad looking CGI for a critical scene. It's a shame for sure!
I've only seen this one, so I can't compare it to the original. This one came out right after I finished my sophomore year of high school, so I can't help but be a little sentimental on it, but it's not perfect by any stretch. I'd like to see the original at some point, though. From what I understand, that big chase scene was filmed in real traffic.
Understandable and indeed. I have a video on the channel on the original film car if you want to learn more about it though, the story behind that car and it's wild builder and driver is crazy stuff!
@ 🤣 nah it is a channel that was building one a few years ago until he got sued!he had to hand the car and body kit over!as always great episodes sir 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I covered the '34 Ford in that film already and will eventually make second rounds through my list for secondary vehicles like that, but still have a lot of primary ones to feature first 😉
And all the huge problems the company Unique performance got into aswell, which according to facts let prisoners build the Eleanor replicas for only the most minimum wages, this scandal forced them to shut down later on.
Cool, yeah you're welcome to do into details on your story on that on here if you like. Many folks have shared their special car accusations in the comments section of videos on here and I enjoy reading them all. There's no character limit that I'm aware either of so feel free to 😉👍
you know honestly I kinda wish someone would do a hybrid design with more of the classic elements, as the back and the sides look great, but the original nose looks way better on the genuine article as it doesnt need that stupid blue light next to the headlights, and honestly I kinda prefer the gunsmith cats version of the 500, also there is another too the blue lady as its called, Jim Morrison's one, like that in its beautiful dark blue is a spectacle to behold, problem is proving if its genuine or not also funny thing about the engine, the 428 was chosen as it put out the very tip top of the performance of the 289 hi po that was in the 428 as a baseline without the need for special tuning or gas, and was reliable and easy to source given its literally a police interceptor motor the 427 was already too costly to produce and took too much time, which is why shelby lost the licence to do those cars with ford literally it was getting so bad that he sourced three shelby cobras with 428's given it was taking sometimes over 6 months to get the cars out thanks to the motor alone and once lee got wind of it he bought him out and made their own version with the 68 king of the road, which kind of a luxury hybrid version of the 500, a really nice car in its own right but by them ford was kinda making their own super hopped up ones with the bosses and the like so ford chose to basically dumb the shelby thing after 1970 and focus in on the mach's and the bosses and they did make some fine ones at that too, but the main reason for the lore behind the 65 to 67 is because of the luxury switch of the 68, and theirs even a road test of it here on youtube and that thing handled despite its heft, its one of those really dumb things where its kinda like people arguing over ferrari's, the real ones that arent mass produced if you like it you like it and who cares what the other guy says you've got a shelby, a boss or a mustang mach 1 they were all great cars, and far better than their GM contemporaries, atleast until 1975
#11: If you try to build a replica, you will be sued by Warner Brothers and your car taken into possession by them if you refer to it as Eleanor as its copywritten. :)
It’s a beautiful recreation, but I call it the Shelby wanna be because Carroll had no involvement in. 1974 original is hands down the best mustang movie.
Correction there was three mustangs with a 427 built when was damaged and don't know what happened to it p number 2 ended up going to Bill Cosby he rejected it it was too fast later sold to a man wrecked it and died
Sounds like you're mixing it up with the Super Snake Shelby Cobra, which is a totally different car, not a Mustang. There were a few production versions of those Cobras, but not the Mustangs.
Re-title the video please Sir. A few years ago the spouse to I forget who, owns the rights the Eleanor name. Shes take cars from youtubers, had their videos removed and I believe even acquired some of their revenue for using the Eleanor name. I enjoyed the video, thank you.
No worries, that's not a problem anymore after she lost the final case to Shelby America last year. Plus it's not like the video is of me showing off a replica I built and call "Eleanor", which is the ones who she was going after back then...
I thought I read somewhere that the last Eleanor seen in the movie (the one Nicholas Cage and Angelina Jolie drive off in and it stalls out) was actually a real unrestored GT500. Can you confirm or put that rumor to rest? Thanks.
That is correct actually and even wilder yet, it was actually an in really nice shape GT500, temporarily dressed up to look like a heap. I was originally going to add that info as a "bonus fact" at the end, but the video ended up being up too long already, so I cut it.
I saw the movie car that sold at Mecum and the fit and finish on the car was awful. But being it was one of the actual movie cars is the only reason it brought the high hammer price , because it so wasn’t because it was a quality build. And once the female from the original movie lost her law suit, anyone can call their car an Eleanor. In the Mustang community everyone was very happy about that. Before she lost her law suit she actually was able to take someone’s build because they call it Eleanor. Then that where the licensed cars came to play. They would pay to be able to use the name Eleanor and then after she lost the lawsuit, you didn’t have to have an officially licensed car to use the name Eleanor, then that made us all wonder how much money was wasted, buying an officially licensed Eleanor car versus just building one yourself.
Sadly, authentic and numbers matching 1967 fastbacks are now rare and almost impossible to find because of the flood of Eleanor restomods being created with them. Turning a beautiful original into an Eleanor should be considered a felony.
The film would have been better off with out a terrible CGI stunt. Not to mention there was no way that car was driveable after jumping "to flat" real life it would have destroyed the car and the driver. They should've done a different chase ending that was more believable
Indeed, we'll believe it or not, the '71 Mustang in original Halicki film did actually survive a huge high speed jump onto concrete like that and still drove after, but that was only because Toby built a custom roll cage through the entire structure of the car and actually chained wrapped the running gear to the car so it didn't get snapped out; but it nearly killed him though! I have a video on that car in the original film on the channel too from about a year ago if you want to learn more about it 😉👍
I just thought you avoided it so Denise Halicki didn’t try to sue you for recreation of her character… that she created… and owned all rights too… and stole money from anyone that put a black stripe on a mustang 😂 Fun fact: the case took ten years to settle because the original judge, not knowing the movie, thought Eleanore was like a cartoon character like Cars. When the final judge finally heard the case he basically called her crazy for thinking she can own another persons creation just by modifying it with a name.
What's interesting is that I made an experiment on this a few years back. I showed both verions of the movie to 5 friends of mine, and all 5 said that the new ones was a more entertaining movie, so I think people that say that the first verion is better, only says so from nostalgia alone, not from a critic type of view
The 67 mustang is my favorite one I have the same car in model from the movie gone in 60 seconds in the box it's self with the same helicopter and shows the car running from the helicopter same price on the box for what it sold for
Yeah, Foose sure seems to think he did anyway; regardless, they both had a part in the car's design and it's still more Shelby styling than anything else anyway, so no biggie 😉

I'd started visiting CVS in 2004 to 2010 during production of Herbie Fully Loaded, Dukes Of Hazzard 2005, few original Eleanor's, and later Ecto-1 and Ecto-1A
Cool 😉👍
You forgot to mention that the movie cars all got independent rear end suspension. That’s one of the factors of deciding if it’s one of the real ones used in the movie or it’s a replica.
😉
love this movie one of my favorites seen it many times love the car eleanor in the movie i love classic ford mustangs one of my favorites this is why this movie is warm to my heart seeing the shelby gt 500 they are definitely fast cars on the road
😉👍
It's a pity Dynacorn Mustang bodies weren't available then , it would have saved genuine cars from getting wrecked. I'm rarely ever impressed with Chip Fooses customization, I dont like his taste, an original GT500 looks far better IMO .Apparently Carroll Shelby wasnt 100 percent in favor of using big blocks in his Cobras or Mustangs, he preferred the lighter 289 ci , for more balanced handling, he said in an interview that it was Ford that wanted the big blocks used.
Makes sense, the lighter the better; especially on the track 😉👍
I gotta be honest here, I’m not big on modified movie cars but I absolutely love Elenor. Fortunately I already had this mindset and Gran Turismo was a thing before going into The Fast and the Furious. That movie was great, but as a car guy it gave me headache.
Indeed 😉
AMT has a 67 Shelby also and there was a resin company called Scale Productions making Eleanor, each release is or was limited
Yeah, I mentioned the AMT one in the video, but yeah there was a number of short lived replica kits around of it for awhile, but mostly independent groups like that who probably stopped making them right away after all that legal junk became high profile.
Ok.. so if Super Snake is #3
And the Bullet is #2..
What's the #1 car??
That would be the 1965 Shelby GT350R Prototype that pulled down a super wild 3.85 Million back in 2020!, here... www.mecum.com/lots/414695/1965-shelby-gt350r-prototype/
Ooooo yeaaa
Love to own one
😉👍
Being mad that a movie jump scene isn't real is like being mad grape soda isn't made of real grapes😂😂😂
Lol, I like REAL grapes soda 😉
My high school girl friend had a ‘67 fastback. I alway thought the ‘67 Mustang was the best of all the Mustangs.
Cool 😉👍
I won a large Jegs banner at a car show because I was the first one to know the year and model of the mustang in the original movie.
Cool 😉👍
I don’t think there was a car enthusiast around the globe who did not want this car when this movie came out.
I remember leaving the cinema’s in Sydney Australia and everyone leaving the car park like they just boosted a car lol
Lol, yeah same thing happened here in the US too, including the after movie parking lot dash, same with the first F&F film around that time as well 😉
In 1976 when I was 17 years old.
Probably the best choice in that case and very cool that you had Chevelle at that age too 😉👍
@@CarStarz42 Thanks. Maybe some day I'll find another SS.
I like the movie for all the gorgeous cars . The first movie is the best 👌.
😉👍
Please do a video on the original Eleanor next.
Of course I did that one way before the remake, over a year ago in fact, here you go... th-cam.com/video/Apnr7goQMu8/w-d-xo.html&t
Nice car
😉👍
@ Yh
Another great video, but i will admit that the car jump in the movie was beyond unnecessary for sure because a lot more stunt cars could have been saved and be sold at auctions or sold to private collectors for sure, that would have been a blast indeed and love the design of the Eleanor for the movie remake, spot on incredible to admire and enjoy even for a moment or two.
Thanks and indeed!
The Unicorn for both Memphis and myself.
😉👍
The first time I saw a "Eleanor" Mustang in the flesh was in town called Benoni in South Africa.
Cool, yeah it apparently appealed to a global audience indeed 😉
What is the tachometer used?
It's a Autometer Sport-Comp Monster Shift-lite 3903 tachometer
More details on how to build an accurate replica here for those interested undertaking such a task... automotiveviews.com/2020/07/31/eleanor-a-quick-practical-guide-eleanor-series-part-ii/
Another fact is the original Eleanor is a 1973 Mustang sports roof, but never got as popular as the 67
Almost correct, it was actually a '71 Mustang sports roof impersonating a '73 in the original film, I have a video about that car on the channel too if you want to learn more about it and it's a wild story indeed 😉
Thanks much and indeed 😉
@CarStarz42 you too dude, and yes, i have another movie car for you the 59 cadillac convertible form movie 'pink cadillac' starting clint eastwood.
@@milfordh.mercado2787 I'll add it to my big list to look into, thanks.
"Digital fart" is good, but id go as far as a digital shart😂
Lol, hat works too 😉
Cool movie car. Can you do a video on the H.A.R.V. Jeep pick-up truck from Jake Speed 1986?
Indeed, I'll add that one to my large list to look into, thanks 😉👍
Eleanor was a 1973 mustang in the original gone in 60 seconds😊
No, the original Eleanor was a '71 updated to appear as a '73. This is documented.
Correct, I have a video on the channel of the original car as well 😉👍
A '71 impersonating a '73 Mustang actually. I have a video on the original car on the channel if you want to learn more about it 😉👍
Awesome job and I love both gone and 60 seconds movie the original and remake took the jump little to far but it was still good just wish they didn't put it in the crusher
Both films have their moments indeed.
If I had a choice between Eleanor and the Tumbler Batmobile, I would choose Eleanor.
😉
I remember being so disappointed at the bridge jump. Took me right out of the movie as kid. Looked so fake on the big screen. 😅
@@CarStarz42 I'll have to check that one out. Thanks.
“I got a 60’s mustang for sale.”
“Is it a fastback?”
“No.”
“Ok, bye.”
😉
Please do the 1973 dodge polara from the sugarlond express!
I'll add it to my big list to look into, thanks 😉👍
Man, all that money they put into restoring the cars and then to total them. 🤦♂️
As always, thanks for the insight.
Indeed and you're very welcome 😉👍
Could you please 🙏 do the John Wick mustang at some time 😉
I do have that one on my big to do list, thanks 😉👍
All I’m going to say is B is for build 🥴🤣
Lol, "B" is also the grade of actors in this film, or maybe even "C", lol! 😉
@ 🤣 nah it is a channel that was building one a few years ago until he got sued!he had to hand the car and body kit over!as always great episodes sir 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
And one of the rarest muscle cars in the movie didnt even get that much screen time. The Moulin Rouge Hemi Cuda
Indeed and it's a beauty for sure 😉👍
HB Helecki's widow lost all her claims to the 2000 movie car, thank god.
Indeed 😉
Why dont you make a fun fact about the 1957 plymouth belvedere in the movie(california kid)
I covered the '34 Ford in that film already and will eventually make second rounds through my list for secondary vehicles like that, but still have a lot of primary ones to feature first 😉
@carstarz42 thanks dude thank you so much
And all the huge problems the company Unique performance got into aswell, which according to facts let prisoners build the Eleanor replicas for only the most minimum wages, this scandal forced them to shut down later on.
Mega yikes indeed, yeah that company has a quite ugly history indeed.
Like the film. Hate car thieves.
Indeed 😉
I have a documented CVS 67. Id be happy to share the story with you if you’re interested. I’ve had the car over 15 years now.
Cool, yeah you're welcome to do into details on your story on that on here if you like. Many folks have shared their special car accusations in the comments section of videos on here and I enjoy reading them all. There's no character limit that I'm aware either of so feel free to 😉👍
you know honestly I kinda wish someone would do a hybrid design with more of the classic elements, as the back and the sides look great, but the original nose looks way better on the genuine article as it doesnt need that stupid blue light next to the headlights, and honestly I kinda prefer the gunsmith cats version of the 500, also there is another too
the blue lady as its called, Jim Morrison's one, like that in its beautiful dark blue is a spectacle to behold, problem is proving if its genuine or not
also funny thing about the engine, the 428 was chosen as it put out the very tip top of the performance of the 289 hi po that was in the 428 as a baseline without the need for special tuning or gas, and was reliable and easy to source given its literally a police interceptor motor
the 427 was already too costly to produce and took too much time, which is why shelby lost the licence to do those cars with ford
literally it was getting so bad that he sourced three shelby cobras with 428's given it was taking sometimes over 6 months to get the cars out thanks to the motor alone
and once lee got wind of it he bought him out and made their own version with the 68 king of the road, which kind of a luxury hybrid version of the 500, a really nice car in its own right
but by them ford was kinda making their own super hopped up ones with the bosses and the like so ford chose to basically dumb the shelby thing after 1970 and focus in on the mach's and the bosses
and they did make some fine ones at that too, but the main reason for the lore behind the 65 to 67 is because of the luxury switch of the 68, and theirs even a road test of it here on youtube
and that thing handled despite its heft, its one of those really dumb things where its kinda like people arguing over ferrari's, the real ones that arent mass produced
if you like it you like it and who cares what the other guy says you've got a shelby, a boss or a mustang mach 1
they were all great cars, and far better than their GM contemporaries, atleast until 1975
Thanks for the additional info there and I agree with that styling preference for sure 😉👍
#11: If you try to build a replica, you will be sued by Warner Brothers and your car taken into possession by them if you refer to it as Eleanor as its copywritten. :)
That was overturned last year fortunately, but yeah the car has had a messy legal history for sure.
It’s a beautiful recreation, but I call it the Shelby wanna be because Carroll had no involvement in. 1974 original is hands down the best mustang movie.
Indeed on both accounts there 😉👍
Correction there was three mustangs with a 427 built when was damaged and don't know what happened to it p number 2 ended up going to Bill Cosby he rejected it it was too fast later sold to a man wrecked it and died
Oh dang I didnt know that happened. Last I heard about that was late 2021 early 2022. I appreciate the insight🙏🏽.
Indeed on both accounts there.
Sadly, authentic and numbers matching 1967 fastbacks are now rare and almost impossible to find because of the flood of Eleanor restomods being created with them. Turning a beautiful original into an Eleanor should be considered a felony.
They are rare now indeed and that is certainly a factor for sure.
I have a video on that car in the original film on the channel too from about a year ago if you want to learn more about it 😉👍
The only classic ford's I like are the rancheros
Those are cool indeed 😉👍
I have a 1967 Mustang Fastback and would never cut it up to convert it into one of these monstrosities. If it were the Chinese shell have at at!
A wise choice there 😉
I just thought you avoided it so Denise Halicki didn’t try to sue you for recreation of her character… that she created… and owned all rights too… and stole money from anyone that put a black stripe on a mustang 😂
Fun fact: the case took ten years to settle because the original judge, not knowing the movie, thought Eleanore was like a cartoon character like Cars. When the final judge finally heard the case he basically called her crazy for thinking she can own another persons creation just by modifying it with a name.
She's nutty for sure and that is funny indeed, I never looked into it that far, but wow, lol!
What's interesting is that I made an experiment on this a few years back. I showed both verions of the movie to 5 friends of mine, and all 5 said that the new ones was a more entertaining movie, so I think people that say that the first verion is better, only says so from nostalgia alone, not from a critic type of view
Opinions vary I suppose, but even outside of nostalgia, there was a lot more effort and realism in the original, although both are good indeed 😉👍
I think it’s one of those things that a remake can rarely replace the original in the heart of a true fan.
The 67 mustang is my favorite one I have the same car in model from the movie gone in 60 seconds in the box it's self with the same helicopter and shows the car running from the helicopter same price on the box for what it sold for
😉👍
I've seen the first movie several times, I refuse to watch the second one. Never seen it never will !!!
Totally understandable friend 😉
Chip Foose did NOT design Eleanor..he oversaw the construction of the clay mold. Steve Sanford was the actual designer.
Yeah, Foose sure seems to think he did anyway; regardless, they both had a part in the car's design and it's still more Shelby styling than anything else anyway, so no biggie 😉
Hollywood....... the original WhistlinDiesel.
Lol 😉
