Love EVERY song of The Raisins! My sister used to live with Rob, and I was at their house almost every weekend. Got to watch everyone practice all the time, went to all concerts....and had great times just hangin out, cooking, watching football and acting plain crazy! Rob is a musical genius, and a nice person to be around. Love ya Rob!
Thanks so much for posting this. Rob Fetters is so good, great. He is so underrated as a guitarist/musician. He was before his time in many ways and could easily have been a featured performer in a more commercially successful band. Gotta do your thing, when you have this much talent. Rock on, brother...
I wonder if these guys thought they were creating some piece of classical rock history with this tune. I sure did. One of the most awesome compositions I've ever heard; and one of my favorite pieces of music, of any genre. Great. Great. Great.........
- I'm hearing it for the 1st time today, Tuesday April 13, 2021. I always loved "Fear Is Never Boring." I should have investigated their music before now but extreme allergy misery stopped my life at age 8. I'm still alive but I haven't felt that way (alive) since before the allergies stole my life. That's the way it goes though. I laugh at my pain and misery now. I refuse to keep whining. Computers sure do make research much easier. If they were common household items and if the internet was easily available or available at all back then, I probably would know of more of their music. The same goes for lots of bands though.
I remember seeing them in Pensacola around 1981 and was watching them set up for the show. Me and a friend of mine also played in a band back then and still do. I told Scott, I bet this band is going to suck judging from the beat up Fender Precision Bass and the Strat with the missing pick-up. I was floored when they kicked off and we stayed the entire show mesmerized. Great Band and fantastic musicians. I would love to see them again.
amazing.. Robbie and the Raisins played at my club on Pensacola beach Fla. in the late 70s. I met them at Machine Gun Kellys and was blown away..a band that played their own music... was unheard of mostly. not many could touch Robbie and his fender Strat..then or now. If you see this Robbie. thank you for all the incredible memories and moments in time that were the best of my life. Jim
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area but grew up in Cincinnati. I'm an engineer now but play guitar every day. Fetter's was definitely an influence on my playing. Someone posted the Raisins album as MP3s a few years ago and I've been listening to it. "Perfect Crime" is a barn burner.
Hey Jim, I was there at Machine Gun Kellys in Pensacola too! This band rocked my world back in the day! Great times when they would play there...loved The Raisins! Great memories!!
cuz the industry is run by crooks and con artists. ex: after EMI turned down the Beatles, Brian Epstein was on his last leg and had to THREATEN them to sign the Beatles. (BE's dad owned a chain of record shops, and Brian said "if you don't sign the Beatles, we will NOT stock any EMI records!") THAT is why George Martin signed them.
I spent months looking for Stella under The Raisins and just found it recorded under the Psycodot name. No matter the band, such a great song. I've hummed it for years.
saw them at coney, and started my band ... wish I could go back in time and see them again ... this time period was like haley's comet, comes around once in a lifetime and never again ...
I am missed the this band 20 years ago due to growing up weird. So that is that Rickey N on keys, Bob N. on bass, Bam (there is only one Bam) on drums and Rob F. wearing the same red pants he wore last night.
1973 -74 I use to go watch these guys in a club called Machinegun Kelly's in Pensacola Fla. I believe they were originally called The Raisin Band. They had 2 guitar players at that time. They were always awesome to go watch.
+Robert Harshman The times The Raisins played at Machine Gun's are part off my own history as well. My future was forever shaped by a couple of those nights. It was insanity back in the day, sheer debauchery and hedonism.. Bob is still one of best bass players I have ever seen. There was not a weak link in that band.
Wowza! Thank You for posting This! Never saw this one before! Only seen Stella from this performance! Won't you or someone please post More! More! More! Hoy! Hoy! Hoy!
everyone FORGETS the music biz is TOTALLY CORRUPT. ex: everyone --- EVERYONE -- from Hendrix to Pink Floyd to U2 to the Beatles ALL ADMIT THEY HAD TO CHEAT To get success. (EVERY song you hear on radio was PAID to be there!)
Is there any info on this entire show? I've found five total songs from this show on TH-cam from two different users and put together that it's 2/13/80 but I can't find a setlist or really anything online about it. Obviously the show was taped for tv and one would assume it is in its entirety out there somewhere, whether converted to a digital format or still on physical tape. This band is great and Fetters is one of my favorite underrated guitar players. Would love to find out more about this show!

Rob was such a great song writer and has a wonderful catalog of work if anyone is looking for something new

Pensacola was definitely one of their strongest fan bases. Magical times.
How these guys never hit it big is beyond me. Wonderful

Rob and Bob's big hair back then and the Rundgren guitar tone on the solos!
saw them at coney, and started my band ... wish I could go back in time and see them again ... this time period was like haley's comet, comes around once in a lifetime and never again ...
Truly great.
Oh the nostalgia. I'd love a dvd of this whole show. Used to catch the Raisins each summer in Pensacola at Machinegun Kelly's. Good times!

It's hard to have faith in the future of your own band when The Raisins never hit it big.
