    She wasn’t evil, she was simply damaged and never got to heal from the trauma. She and Anakin are examples that most monsters aren’t born…they are made by monstrous circumstances. While Palpatine is the rarer example of a monster that was born. He was a psychopath before ever becoming a Sith.

      Its Sad that Obi-wan could display enough sympathy towards Ventress' situation to comprehend the reasons for which she turned to the dark side to ultimately forgive her, but failed to do the same with Anakin, who Kenobi simply saw as evil, and turned a complete blind eye to his inner conflict.

    She is a criminally underrated character. Watching her arch on dathomir for the first time and seeing how there was never a point in her life where she wasn’t subservient to someone else or had a “master” was tragic but it explained so much about her. And she’s a badass

    Ventress is one of the best characters ever. The relationship with Obi-Wan, her kinship with Ahsoka, her deep and complex personal damage, her drive, and her skill and abilities... Were she ever able to deal with her personal pain and suffering, she could have become one of the greatest force users in the galaxy. She was immensely clever but never learned emotional control which he various antagonists used against her time and again. She was trained in saber dueling by the greatest duelist in Jedi history. She could handle dueling both Anakin AND Obi-Wan at the same time. Palpatine saw her and Dooku as a rising threat and offered Dooku to kill her. Dooku didn't want to... he had become fond of her and for a moment thought about taking her and going to confront Palpatine. He ultimately decided it was a losing bet as neither of them were ready for such a task and with his own life now hanging on the balance did what he felt he had to and turned on her. His fondness of her being the proof in his mind he couldn't do what was necessary to defeat his Master. Of course I'm injecting a tiny bit of my own hypothesizing in the gaps but it's all based on real story. Ventress never had a home. Every parental figure she had aside from her Jedi master used, abused, and discarded her. Every time she found a home it would be destroyed, taken away, and betrayed or cast her out. She never had a friend who didn't die or betray her. She truly was a tragic character. Under all her anger, fear, and suffering there was kinship, loyalty, even kindness... Despite her dark masters best efforts, she had never been fully corrupted. She wasn't loyal out of fear. She wanted her masters to be proud, grateful, to be endeared to them. Had the Jedi not been so sanctimonious and arrogant during her time, she could have become one of the greatest among them. I know there are stories that indicate how she met her end but to be honest I'd like to see her make an appearance in the Mandalorian or the Ahsoka show...

    • @Count.Saruman
      @Count.Saruman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      That's not a tiny bit of your own hypothesising; it's the truth. You're entirely correct in that there was a Ventress-sized gap between Dooku and Sidious, which is... not a small gap. Ventress still needed time before she and Dooku together could truly defeat Sidious, but Sheev being the brilliant schemer that he is noticed this instantly.
      Dooku, who joined the Sith not for power but for change and reformation, calculated that he still needed Sidious and that duelling him at this point would be a mistake. He therefore fell out with Ventress, which is just what Sidious had planned. This is also what ultimately drove the nail into Dooku's coffin, which is why he never again thought to challenge Sidious and remained his loyal little patsy until his end.

Sure, he had a couple moments of weakness, such as when he had to fight maul after he killed Qui-Gon, and when he had to confront Anakin on Mustafar. I love Ventress, she is my favorite. I even have two Siamese, Asajj Ventress and Ahsoka Tano. Dark Disciple is so great and heartbreaking. I want better for her. Fingers crossed she shows up in Kenobi.

    Pity with her... She was one the few WOULDA BEEN redemption stories since the ONE thing the Jedi hated, or 2, Love and Attachment, that happened totally unplanned sounds like with Quinlin Voss, started her on a path that PROBABLY woulda seen her turn into a powerful Grey Jedi if NOT total redemption by the time of the movies is what I've heard. The fact that EVEN in poor mental state becoming a kinda Sith/evil Bounty Hunter/Assassin type BUT able to reliably set aside ALL of that to work alongside notable heroes just shows and proves she can become one the strongest possible heroes. Since ONCE that'd happened she'd become one the ultimate Heroes knowing all too well of the worst sorts of fear and darkness having been that for so long herself... That old saw bout living as a hero or villain so long the character or person actually switches sides. Sometimes permanently which think under a friendship an guidance from Voss, Kenobi an Still Knight Anakin here probably woulda been the case

      Don't forget she dies wielding a yellow light saber, defending a Jedi and dies a Guardian usurped by Sith and Jedi alike.. EPIC!!! She's more Ahsoka but Force Ghost than anything. She just needs Kenobi's help to heal Dathomir from the other side...

    I think this is probably the finest analysis you've ever done. I always liked Ventris' character, even though she was seemingly evil, it was clear that there was far more complexity to her than was obvious. Brilliant and well done. It is interesting, though, that Obi Wan could somehow see past the apparent evil in Ventris, but could never find his way to see past it in Anakin.

    Ventress was misunderstood; she was just going from one dark pit to the next, struggling to break free.

  • @N1co777

    I agree... in the cartoon series when she became a bounty hunter she did a lot of selfless and light worthy things proving that she is not dark at the core... her fear made her carnal and instinctive for self preservation and then that was used and she was manipulated by Dooku... I was bumbed about her death

    This speaks volumes about how truly compassionate and understanding Obi-Wan was as a person. It's why I keep saying that he could have saved Anakin in place of Qui-Gon. Ventress is one of the best characters in Star Wars in my opinion, and I would very much like to see the rest of her story play out in some sort of mini series, or maybe even a short film. Although, if I had to pick, I'd rather it be a mini series.

  • @ColdFusion365

    Obi-Wan actually did refer to her as “a complicated woman” in an episode of “The Clone Wars” and the book “Dark Desciple”. Everyone she became close to since her childhood were taken away from her and she was psychologically damaged from it. She never learned how to deal with pain. Just lash out her pain to justify her actions.
    She hated the Jedi because they were so dogmatic in their ways. Even the council showed some hostility towards her when Obi-Wan asked her to attend a meeting. The other members were ready to pull their lightsabers out. Only Masters Yoda and Obi-Wan welcomed her. After that Asajj told Obi-Wan she would never come there again.
