I forgot to mention.... if you're pictures don't import into davinci, make sure to convert them to jpg or use adobe DNG converter and then import :D
*your, lol. Btw great video!
Now that was AWESOME! Thanks for another great and useful technique Jamie.
Thanks David! Glad you liked it :D
This is cool 👌🏻
Thanks Jakub!
Hi, I think you made mistake from the beginning. If you import photos as you did via fusion comp, you change the photos resolution to the resolution of composition i.e. 1920x1080. You can't enlarge such photos without loosing details, as seen at the end of your video. Better way is to create empty fusion comp, first of all ad a background node connected to output node to set output resolution, then import photos directly from Media pool and proceed as you did. The output from your last merge should be via a new merge node connected between background and output. So the pictures remain at full resolution and enlargements have all possible details. AND, for max sharpness all merge nodes should have set Filter method not to linear but to Lanczos or Sinc. Apology for my English. Regards, Marko
Thanks Marko! Noted.
Thats great. good tutorial.
But if you had used 3 different lenses or you just moved with same lens toward the zoom, you would get so beautiful parallax effect, in this method the zoom is just dead-zoom. :p
True, but I was just showing the easy way. Also this is based on the effect from the movie "limitless" where they didn't do any focus pulling. You would need a focus puller to get that effect as well and most people dont have that type of equipment.
@@JamieFenn Come on Jamie, you dont need that thing, its mainly only 3 still pictures, made with ANY camera or lens.(Not the "Limitless" zoom)
@@arsh0603 A focus puller would ensure a perfect parallax effect. Or a dolly... it would be nearly impossible to get the same consistent speed with your hand compared to what machine could do...
@@JamieFenn My friend, I think we are talking about two different effects, stay blessed and keep up the good work.
Sounds like you don't know what parallax is
Great. I try
to create settings and send to a friend. But Davinci doesn't see nested images
(png file) How to do it? How to make Davinci understood that need to refer
to this file? Can you make a tutorial of it?
Make sure to convert to dng or jpg before importing!
@@JamieFenn Oh, maybe I incorrectly described the question. My problem is export macro(.setting). I create wedding titles and use vector files (flowers, pattern - different formats, not problem with import)and then sent macro friend. When she loads a setting in her PC, vector file references my file location rather than her file location и and gives an error - media out. I don't understand how to prepare a project for her:( Like in after effect - command Connect files. But how it do in Davinci? Have you ever come across this? Thanks:)
Limitless ways to zoom, pun intended lol. Forward zoom, reverse zoom, zoom through city streets, zoom through doors. Fun stuff!
yup!!! :D
Nice tutorial! Thanks.
you're welcome!
Here before any dislikes
Lol, sometimes I have no idea why I get dislikes.
did everything the same but men i get to the second merge i cant see my clip. its like its behind the first merge. but everything is the same as you did
Bro you're the reason why I use Davinci Resolve 16! Big ups to you bro!!
steven chabala that’s so awesome Steven! I hope I make your creative mind flow!
Nice one Jamie!!wonder if putting on a 6' slider if that have any gain?
Not really. Just a tripod should work.
Another GREAT tutorial, Jamie! Thank you so much for sharing.
You're welcome Ary!
This is a great way of doing it. I have toiled away using edit module only for a recent project. Can't wait to give this a go.
Clickumentary have fun! It’s definitely a sweet effect and thanks for the kind words 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
i was just looking for it yesterday into your channel and here you gave it away :) god bless
MAGIC! hahah glad you like it!
Jamie you are turning me into a pro video by video, first thing in my life I really like doing
TeaTime Severrag haha that’s awesome to hear! Glad you’re enjoying yourself. 😁
Only been using Davinci for a week and only just got into the idea of vfx and compositing but im somewhat amazed at how simple most effects actually are, always thought they'd be alot of work, I get some are but most are easy, its also given me a whole new perspective of the amount of thought that goes into youtube videos in general
Nice...great technique to get a very dramatic effect.
Thanks Rick!
This was dope! Looking forward to seeing more. New to the channel!
Awesome to hear! Welcome!
man i cant stop watching your videos, u r super man u r helping me to build an amazing channel man
Happy to hear that!
hey jamie.. love to see the hard type. lol.
loved it...
I explained it in the end. You'll need multiple cameras and lenses set up just like the photo. Record all at the same time and then match them up in post. I dont have 3 cameras and tripods unfortunately.
Nzt-48 effect yewwww
hahha yepppp!
Hi Jamie, once i did this kind of effect but directly in the edit page, i was wondering what is the benefit of doing it in fusion? Great channel, keep posting fusion effects!!! thanks a lot!
Yea definitely! I feel like the fusion tab is something people should start using more. Its quicker and theres more flexibility. You can achieve the same effects in the edit tab and even the color tab sometimes, but I think when creating composites, FUSION is the way to go!
Thank you so much for your lessons and thank you from Ukraine.
Hey thank you! If you like videos like this check out my new one :D tinyurl.com/y33hymv8
Awesome! Keep these tutorials coming. Thank you so much.
Will do :D
hey... jamieee again ❤❤
Awesome again Jamie!
Hey thanks so much Pete!!
Just make video like Zack King magic effect thanks
Just? lol zack king is hard to replicate...
Going to be trying this out 👌🏻 quick question, from your intro video showcasing the effect, how did you mask in the second “limitless” photo so it transitioned to another street/location? At what point on the node tree in fusion did you add that mask?
😀😀😀
I love your work!!!!!!🧑🏾🧑🏾🧑🏾🧑🏾👍👍👍👍✔✔✔✔
Much love !
Is this on the studio version or the free version?
Free.
can you hare link to those images
Ill start putting the files up for download in future videos.
@@JamieFenn Do you have the pictures maybe?
by far the best explanation I 've seen
Hey man! Do you know if this also work with videos for the different frames? There is another scene in the movie with such a scene.
Have a look:

Would be great if you have a advice to recreate this sort of shot.
Thanks
Yes I as I explain in the video :D
@@JamieFenn Could you maybe provide the project file? That would be awesome!
great ,thanks
You are welcome!
U a Swami. Great
Whats a swami!? hahah
Bro u the best
nah you're the best
Thanks for this Jamie, great tutorial. I have now subscribed and look forward to more of your content. Quick question: using 3 video clips rather than 3 stills, would I just use each video clip (one for each lens) to replace each of the copied still sequences you created? Or is there some other process?
Yup you could do it like that!
@@JamieFenn Thanks Jamie. As I plan this attempt for tomorrow I realise I have more questions. Maybe dumb but did you match max aperture across the 3 lenses? what was your focus point with each lens, and can you repeat this process to double up the zoom path (walk farther down the street and do the same for twice the coverage in distance)?
5.6 and infinite focus I think. Keep in mind you cant have anything moving in the shot that where you mask or else it will look funny.
@@JamieFenn thanks :-)
