  • Vladimir Putin is attending the 3rd BRI Forum hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping. At the same time, the Anglosphere intelligence alliance Five Eyes has just held a public meeting, with a press conference in Silicon Valley. In Ep 1333 of Cut The Clutter, Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta talks about the common theme that emerged from the two events and the evolving theatres of geopolitics. Also featuring a special interaction with ThePrint Deputy Editor Moushumi Das Gupta, just back from covering the ruinous flood in Sikkim.

Kudos to those who army officers and dam workers to get the job almost done, but after the dust settles we should also investigate why the dam was not having an alarming system, if the water was piling up so fast, why we couldn’t have open the gates earlier and do we need some siren systems in villages, towns or cities (near the river bank and border areas specifically) so everyone knows if theres a emergency, like put some in religious places, they already have speakers and stuff, in 2023 we shouldn’t be only depending on humans discovering errors there should be use of technology, p.s taking nothing away from the ITBP officers and dam authorities, big salute to them they have all the respect. And thanks to print team to specify something that has not be done by leading news channels, you guys deserve a news channel on tv, people want news from people like you, journalism at its peak.❤🇮🇳

True. I live in australia and have witnessed myself. We were ruled by the British for over 200 years and we still follow them. China faced century of humiliation but worked hard to develop itself and compete with them. We Indians are still doing our best to continue the Anglo-Saxon superiority by helping them against China. To be honest, we have shown that we are happy to be raped and kicked by the British/American if it helps us to stand against China. We have already betrayed China and BRICS and to be honest the Americans will throw us out the day they won’t need us. Americans consider the Chinese as competitor but they consider us inferior and that’s the truth.

The story on 5 eyes meeting vs. Chinese BRI conference was absolutely irrelevant and a complete waste of time. Not clear what Shekhar Gupta was trying to declutter by merely reading through statements made by the protagonists at the conference.
Surely you can do better than this. For example it would have been better if the entire episode had been dedicated to the Sikkim situation.

What high-tech products do Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the UK sell to the world? milk? wool? Iron ore or LGBTQI?

Infact, 50 years ago, we had Prabhat Stores, which used to sell cheap tech books of Russian translated English books and that money was used for polital propaganda of parties.

Hi Shekhar, please also talk about the recent same-sex marriage ruling of the Supreme Court. I think it was a surprising decision which defied the recent trend of more acceptance of LGBTQ community and has the entire community dismayed.

Genuinely curious, as same-sex relationships were de-criminalized few years ago, is it not enough? why bother about marriage? Why should the gay people follow the same thing that heterosexuals follow..?

You want muslim riots in India if SC approved it? Courts must be careful of the people’s perspective too since India has various religious beliefs and it can’t simply put a law that offends the religious beliefs of a particular people.

Russian cyber warfare capabilities aren't a cause of concern for the western countries since the earlier failed attempts during the early weeks of Ukraine conflict. Also what is the thing with the CAG report on the vulnerabilities of these dams. Sir, please make this break from Israel-Hamas a bit longer. There are a lot of other things. पक गए बिलकुल।

I take your point, Jaydeep. But Israel-Hamas is the biggest news development. I will, however, keep in mind what you've written. Do keep watching and writing in, and thank you for supporting our journalism...best wishes, Shekhar

China seriously needs to evaluate it's expansionist stance. The west would never want ny Asian or African country to challenge it or allow it to reach parity . Not just governments, it's people too. In that case losing belligerence and growing together with south Asian countries, especially india and korea , japan is in it's long term interests.

China obviously doesn't subscribe to that logic. Global domination with Beijing being the center of the world is what they seek. ATM they look very hard to stop.
