No greater gift than one who lays down their life for friends. A coward won't lay down their life for others.

Manipulating people for power and control is also a sin.

@@newhorizon1355 Actually it is not. The Bible never said not to judge, but if you do you have to realize that measuring stick will be used to judge your own actions and attitudes. In short you are dead wrong.

@@newhorizon1355 OK let's just clarify. Mark Driscoll is a manipulating person that claims to be a Christian (I will take his word for it on that) and yes I am saying that he is a manipulator because that is what the fruit has shown for literally years. He has displayed it over and over again and has refused to submit to any discipline over it from his CHRISTIAN BROTHER AND SISTERS. When Jesus says to take the log out of your own eye he uses the word 'brother'. So yes you are wrong. For you to say "do not judge" with zero context is absolutely obnoxious and wrong of you.

@@newhorizon1355 Yet Paul does write in the NT that sin within the church should be confronted and handled. That is clearly understood when reading the NT. I have seen pastors living in obvious sin (affairs, stealing, lying), confronted by faithful brothers in love, and were unrepentant. They should not be leading the body of Christ if they are not going to repent of sin. In fact, Paul writes that we should have nothing to do with them.

@@newhorizon1355 I don't have to tarnish his character. He already has done that a thousand times over to himself. And you are just playing word games at this point. You made a statement indicating judging someone is a sin which I called you out on and then you proceeded to take the Bible out of context. Now you are attempting to change the subject. And as far as forgiveness and trust are concerned those are 2 different things which again you are misconstruing for some reason. All throughout this you are also being manipulative. And judging a "man of God"? Please. You guys always do this sort of thing where you defend the actions of a "man of God" that has done multiple times destruction to people's lives and for what? His own self-righteousness? Your self-righteousness? Driscoll has done enough damage. He doesn't get to call people cowards without being called out for his own cowardess. You are enabling terrible behavior from so called "men of God" that have caused huge damage and you are STILL refusing to stand up to it. That is incredibly cultish behavior and in the end it is not going to fly.

@@newhorizon1355 You are so incredibly wrong. No, judgement is not a sin if it is a correct judgement. Mark Driscoll has been around for years and has a wrap sheet of manipulating people for power and control for years. There was a process for Mark that he rejected. Now this guy has a new church and for some weird reason folks like yourself continue to enable him to go on manipulating and hurting people. Yes God is the ultimate judge and He will indeed have the last word. At the end of the day I am not mad at you or him. I just think you are dead wrong. Based on the fruit of this guys life I think he is in the process of harming more people and do not see he is qualified to be in the pulpit. People are stupid to put themselves under him and it is more than doubtful he has anyone keeping him accountable. He threw all of that out. And by the way, try committing a crime. People that are unbelievers will justifiably judge you and lock you up. Your view of scripture is perverted.

What about running away from your wounded church family, abandoning your convictions, and planting a new church in order to avoid accountability and church discipline? Like, that kind of cowardice…?

This is just a 30-second clip of a sermon which I haven't watched, so my comment is in light of that. Since this clip is only 30 seconds, I wanted to add some context.
The Greek word there used for "cowardly" is listed as:
"1169 deilós (an adjective derived from deidō, "fear-driven") - properly, dreadful, describing a person who loses their "moral gumption (fortitude)" that is needed to follow the Lord."
Christ passed through a crowd and went away when the crowd was going to throw Him off a cliff (Luke 4:30). In Damascus, Paul was lowered through a window to avoid capture while authorities were trying to seize him (2 Cor. 11). Jesus speaks of the last days and tells people to flee to the hills. If avoiding conflict is a sin, then why did our Lord slip through a crowd, why did Paul slip out a window, why would our Lord tell those in the last days to flee to the hills?
The text in Revelation isn't referencing simply avoiding conflict. It references giving up faith in Christ, not enduring, and not persevering till the end. Avoiding conflict and giving up faith in Christ are two COMPLETELY different things. I won't say he misinterpreted the verse because I haven't watched this full sermon. He may have gone on and clarified. I will say that posting 30-second clips is irresponsible. He did mention not having any other choice, but this clip makes is sound like if you avoid conflict then you are a coward and will not inherent God's kingdom. Back then those Christians were facing certain death because of their faith, not just avoiding conflict. That's why the verse before says that those who overcome will inherit the kingdom. The context in Revelation 21:7 & 8 is remaining faithful to the end, persevering, and overcoming through faith in Christ. I wish the clip would have included that information rather than posting click bait. There are newer believers watching these videos and the Scripture should be presented faithfully.
We saints have to evaluate what we hear preached. We compare it with the Word of God to see if it holds true. There are many teachers out there, and we must evaluate their teachings to ensure we are not lead astray or coerced in to believing something incongruent with the Bible. Take care, saints. Stay alert.

A coward is someone who knows what their friends are doing to others and doesn't say anything about it to protect the victims. Until it happens to them

For than one that burys his talent shall be cast out, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. That's one in the NT. Here try an OT account of cowards, judged by God as Sin. And the ppl argued and debated Joshua saying we can not take this land, for there are giants living in it. Their cowardice was punished, not onebof them lived to enter the promised kand.

@@newhorizon1355 Again, friend, where's the commandment? What deed could you possibly do that was not something God required of you in the first place? Remember, He commands us to be perfect, and we can't improve on perfection. We can't even hope to reach that goal. I have no "profit" of my own because I earn nothing by doing what I am required to do. That's why our redemption is by grace and grace alone. There is only one thing that you can place before God that is, properly speaking, your own-your sin. The only thing that can redeem you is not your work, but the work that Christ has performed on your behalf. He freely came to do the Father's will and to submit Himself to the law for our sake. He, and He alone, is a profitable servant. Repent of your sin and place your trust in Jesus Christ.
