I triend Vanilla Powder and it was instant love for me. For me is a happy vanilla but not cheap. I think is something I would go to on sunny warmer days!
I went to the scent bar in NYC this weekend to pick up a few things. I was given a sample of vanilla powder. I decided to take out the sample in the car and spray it, by the time I made it home I had ordered a full bottle. I can't wait until it gets here. I am in love with Vanilla Powder.
Goodness me, the perfumes are dropping so fast that you can't really follow it anymore....anybody else feels similarly? And the quality of them is often quite abysmal.
I buyed a sample of Vanilla powder Matiere Premiere and it was a love at first sniff! Its another take on vanilla, in the opening it smell a little bit of animalic but that goes quick away. Once it settle on the skin you smell the vanilla, the Palo Santo is thank god not that strong witch is good and a hint of coconut with a clean musk. Its good that its not to powdery. Its my first perfume of Matiere Premiere and i'm happy with it, i'll hope it works out for you in time. ☺
I love BDK Vanille Leather 🥰🥰🥳🥳it was a blind buy for me and I am so happy to have it in my collection 🥳🥳🥰🥰just as you have said, if it was stronger that would be perfect 👌👌thank you for another great video 🥰🥰🥳🥳
I agree with you re Vanilla Powder. Certainly a unique perfume but I am strangely drawn to it particularly in the dry down. I get more of a desiccated coconut vibe rather than vanilla. In my opinion should be called Coconut Powder . I’m still tempted to get a 50ml bottle though
I recently smelled the Electimuss London one and I am going to purchase it. It is the perfect mixture I was looking for. Exceptional in any way, in my opinion.
Agree that Deep Dark Vanilla is not great. I think it would be fantastic if they used a more chocolate cake patchouli but as is, it's a no go. Althair is awesome and I can't wait to smell Bosca Vanilla Forte. Fire at Will by Jovoy is still my favorite vanilla for now.
Great video! I absolutely love vanilla fragrances and own a few in different categories (gourmand, spicy, woody, etc)… As soon as I saw Vanilla powder I knew I had to have it. I enjoy the house of Matiere Premier as they often have an original twist on the main ingredient and therefore stand out.. I really do loooove the new release… but I went in knowing it wasn’t going to be a summer/tropical fragrance… I also enjoy Palo Santo as a note and I was on the hunt for a great Palo Santo fragrance… I had sampled Eau California by Celine and was disappointed and I was hoping this release would be more like I had hoped Eau California would be like… palo santo powdery vibe… So yes… Vanilla powder is definitely an odd duck and needs to be tested on skin before purchase. I like that it has a sweetness but not gourmand, coconut but not beachy or tropical , it’s creamy/lactonic-isch due to the palo santo and it has a powdery-ness but not the fizzy kind (more dry). So I wish I had gotten the 100 ml instead of the 50ml… But for me it’s in my current top 5 list.
A super selection I am perhaps most likely to go for the vanille leather, sounds like the love child of ombre leather and tabacco vanille....just imagine
I have Althaïr and it’s gorgeous but definitely easy to overdo it as it REALLY blooms in the heat. I wore 4 sprays on a cold day and then got in the car with a seat heater and I completely choked myself out. The ambroxan and cinnamon are what I get most prominently when it heats up. Good to keep in mind as we head into cold weather (and the heated homes/fireplaces/cars associated with the chilly weather)!
For me, the great thing about Vanilla Powder is how different it is, very unique and not like any of the vanilla fragrances I have in my 700+ collection. I think I need a FB 😅
I don’t understand the feedback on vanilla powder at all. For me it is so likable. I presented it to my mother and two guy friends and instantly they liked it. The two guys have max two perfume bottles each! It is sufficiently unique as well. Not B540 but in the ballpark. Looking forward to seeing the performance more when the pay check comes in. Though I saw the sillage lingering nicely in our house with the sample.
I love, love, love vanilla!! Many of these sound a little out of my comfort zone, but I have tried BDK Vanille Leather and love that one!! Would also like to get my nose on Althair! Happy Thanksgiving to you, Sebastian! ❤
@@ThePerfumeGuy Yeah, I’m a bit “shocked” myself. Most perfumes just disappear on my skin after smelling cheap, dirty, filthy or even rotting corpse. But this one? Sprayed side by side with Oud for greatness. It’s perfect.
D.S & Durga for me sometimes have these artistic scents that compromise on pleasant wearability. Burning Barbershop. Even Debaser for me. I do have and like the very wearable Radio Bombay. I'll stay away from their Dark Vanilla. A few of my favorite Vanilla's: Ted Lapidus Pour Lui TF Tobacco Vanille Byredo Vanille Antique Vanille by Mona di Orio
Thanks for a great run through, love vanilla scents! I have been wearing Vanilla Powder for about 2 weeks and I still can't wrap my head around it, it leans dry/sweet toffee on my skin but has something overly peppery that I don't enjoy. I am used to wearing ambroxan so I don't think its that, rather the coconut in combination with palo santo? I think they might be competing with eachother and the result is somewhat cloying and overbearing. I will stick to eau duelle in search of another vanilla that has better staying power. Will try the bdk vanille leather!
Vanilla Edesia... SOLD!!! 😆 I'm obsessed with DS&Durga Deep Dark Vanilla but I totally agree with you it's not for everyone, there is some funk in the opening, at least I perceive it, don't know what it is, I find it slightly similar to their Pistachio one. I don't really Care for Althair but I will try it, the one I'm really looking forward to test is Vanilla Supermassive, you can't have enough vanilla fragrances!!! Thanks for the video Sebastian!!!
I got a sample of Deep Dark Vanilla and it didn't smell like anything special to me at all. Smelled cheap actually... but I did just blind buy ELECTIMUSS Vanilla Edesia (haven't received it yet*) and I am hoping to love it! The reviews for it have me very intrigued.
I thought it was just me Sebastian, with the Bosca Vanilla and the marine note, I love love the opening it reminds me of the opening of Orchidee Vanille however I got the marine, fishy note that made me feel so sad. I remedied it by using Osea oil which is quite citrusy to kill the fishy note so it stays delicious.
Vanila Powder smells a bit like Alexandre J Zafeer Vanilla Oud. But the coconut is much more prominent there. And instead of musk, it's got oud. Plus I don't get ambroxan in it. Unlike Vanilla Powder. The Ambroxan is quite strong in VP. The longevity AND projection is actually quite crazy in VP
I have a sample of Bosca Vanilla and I liked it so much I was contemplating the full bottle purchase. I cannot smell the fishy/marine dry down on myself but now it got me thinking if maybe that’s a characteristic of a certain batch… idk I’ll definitely have to try it a bunch more times
Thank you for this video! I adore woody vanillas and thought I was going to LOVE Vanilla Powder, but I was it did not work for me at all; I got that same waxiness you mention here. Deep Dark Vanilla weirdly smelled like BBQ chip flavoring on me. I am dying to try the BDK next!
Got a sample of Electimuss - Vanilla Edesia recently from Lucky Scent, and I'm totally with you. If your vanilla preference is sweet or gourmand.. this may not be for you. I like cumin, and love almost anything incense leaning. I get a hint of Mancera's - Velvet Vanilla .. but smother, better blended, and much more subdued. Velvet Vanilla is way too much for me. Smells better about 45 minutes or so after applying. Only wear it when blended with another fragrance. Looking to pull trigger on Edesia during Blk. Fri. weekend. 👍🦃
Too much cumin in Vanilla Edesia sadly, I was charmed with the opening and almost ran to order a full bottle after I first sprayed it on my wrist, glad I didn’t. The same note, that ruins Guidance to me. Althair is lovely, the only fragrance I was excited to buy full (125 ml bottle) from the list. As vanilla lover I have tried all except Guerlain so far..
Althair definitely pretty and for both men and women lol I honestly think it leans more feminine but maybe because I don’t get the pine/fresh spiciness that some people seem to be getting? I just get cinnamon and sweet vanilla, and a light cream soda fizziness lol 💙🤷🏾♀️
I don’t like gourmand vanilla. I don’t like sweet perfumes. I like Althair, and I actually just ordered deep dark vanilla. I thought it was weird at first, like vanilla extract. But the more I wore it, the better it got. So I bought it. I ordered a sample of vanilla powder. I really like Babylon, that to me smells like smoky vanilla, love it. Is starlight vanilla the one that smells like Dama Bianca?
Hate ambroxin so much. That, birch, tuberose, and aldehydes are the magic formula for an awful fragrance to me. Rarely, small doses can be tolerable but not more than a faint dose. However usually those notes are not faint.
You could not have said it better when describing Vanilla Powder! I was really excited to try it out and unfortunately was very disappointed with it. It is just weird and very hard to describe why. I really wanted to love this one.
I had the same thoughts about Guerlain Bosca Vanilla forte. I thought the opening was really good, and then it dried down to an unpleasant marine scent.
Have you sampled any of the fragrances from the house of Versatile Paris. I am curious about Croissant Cafe, a very affordable house. Also, have you tried Penhaligon's Eau the Audacity it was being compared to Babycat or a good alternative to it.
Hello from Paris . I love you frangrances review . I would like to Knowles if you Knowles Victorian vanilla from Coastal Carolina? What do you thune about ?
Grrrreeaat review per usual…you should give Maison Rebatchi - Vanille Riviera a sniff..soo good, a green🌿 Vanilla🍨✨…very special & unique to me. It was an INSTANT purchase for me after getting a sample of it from Lucky Scent, I purchased a full bottle..and the bottle is simplistic & beautiful. Hope you will explore it if you have not already😍🙏🏽💯
Quick question on Guerlain’s Vanille Planifolia Extrait, do you feel it is its own unique vanilla per se, or do you feel it is very similar to some other vanillas by Guerlain? I’m very close to pulling the trigger and getting the bottle.
Vanilla seems to be the main common note I dislike - it's funny, I'm happy with vanilla in food, I can intellectually appreciate frags when they showcase vanillic sweetness, but it always smells "too sweet" when I smell it on my skin. I just don't like smelling like a sugar cookie or milkshake. So this is a good list of things not worry about 😂 I also adore patchouli, though. Working through my most recent decant haul, and Nicolaï Patchouli Intense absolutely blew me away.
I don’t personally have that rule I say wear what you want when you want but some people don’t want really strong warm fragrances when it’s really hot outside and some people prefer to wear warmer, stronger, richer Fragrances when it’s really cold outside. Hope that explains.
Oh bummer hopefully you'll get to find these and get your nose on them. These are very new on the market minus the PDM which has been around for a good 2+ months now! :)

Me too it's insanely addictive, lune Feline atelier too
BDK Parfums, Vanille Leather is SO strong on my skin! The dry down is … magical. I just wanna bite. 14 hours now, still like a magical aura around me.
