this would actually work really well with all sorts of neutral runs: in the more peaceful runs, it’s a semi-serious fight, a warning not to go too far, but still having a playful edge to it. he’s not trying to kill you, he’s not trying to stop a rampage of any kind, he just wants to talk and show you what kind of water you’re dipping your toes in. “joking aside” and then proceeding to crack some jokes anyway, just to mess with you. the more ruthless runs, on the other hand… he’s serious. he can’t decide between humor to cope and cold anger, so it’s some sort of fusion of the two. this “version” would probably only happen if you either kill papyrus, reach a certain lv, or both. “joking aside” and he really does mean it. he’s still reluctant to kill you, but he’s absolutely willing to and he definitely doesn’t mind roughing you up a little or a lot. very much a “you’re on thin ice” vibe. i imagine there would be lots of small variations; dialogue, attack intensity, it would all depend on what you’ve done every step of the way. there would ABSOLUTELY be a completely unique set of dialogue and maybe even attacks too if you ONLY kill papyrus, confusion and grief and anger all rolled up into one sad skeleton. “joking aside”… why the hell would you do that? he definitely doesn’t mind killing you now, but what’s the point in winning if he doesn’t have any loved ones to live for? maybe he doesn’t mind you killing him, either; it’s just a matter of who gets there first. he’d dodge for a little while, but he’d run out of steam much faster than in the geno route. “joking aside”, he’s tired, and he’s been tired for a long time, and the only person he was keeping it together for is gone. that person is gone, and you killed him. are you proud of yourself? this fight wouldn’t even be that hard, as far as attacks are concerned. here, he truly is the weakest monster.
Version 1 is like, "okay, you killed a few monsters. You're still all good." Version 1.5 feels more like, "Listen, Kiddo. you killed almost half the underground, but you're still kinda good."
Woah this is so great, ngl this ver reminds me of sans from TS!Underswap Location 2 DEMO, so this is a great level! I love how bonetrousle and megalovania moments were made even more hype than they were before. It's also made more undertale-like than the original version. Both are very good though!
