Its mad how football has changed. And what a kit that was for Liverpool.

I can totally understand both sides liking either modern oder old footbal. To my sisters, who are not football fans, it seems to be the same but long tiem fans will realize that these two styles are entirely different. I personally prefer modern football way more but I understand why my grandpa wouldn't like it. For him it's too fast. He can't followe the game and it hurts his eyes. He also feels like modern football is lacking in passion. It's very vague but I get what he means. Old football to me feels too slow and unsystematic. It feels like there is barely any coordination and every attack is not the product of a strategy but just coincidence. But that was the appeal of old football. Individual skills were extremely important. You had way more one vs one moments as today, which means creativiity and kills as well as good timing for defenders were very important. This style of playing football is the reason why my grandpa and dad considered football to be a man's game. And not gonna lie, I don't think women would have survived this kind of football. Modern football is about speed, first touches and combinations. It's way faster and more atheltic. But they lack physical power compared to older players, which is a given considering how fast they need to be. Individual skills are not unimportant but more than being able to win a one vs one, what's more important is to be abel to trap the ball perfectyl for a fast transition. Since Gurardiola`s Tiki Taka era, football has been all about fast combinations to score before your opponents can even intercept. That's what is the difference between old and modern football to me. Old football is a man's sport, it's about indivdual skills. Modern football is a teams sport. Both have their own appeal. And I'm not gonna lie, as someone who grew up in the likes of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Zidane etc. I sometimes miss the one vs one situations and the great skills these players displayed. But overall, I just really love these fast team combo attacks. So for me it's modern football. Sorry for the long post.

What a calm finish by Ian Rush. First of 47 goals he bagged that season.

I remember Sammy Lee what a player until that awful injury, in them days if you had a bad injury you were not the same player coming back in most cases you were finished, unlike now they are incredible the physios and the doctors are.

Thank you so much for this. I knew these highlights existed but had never seen them. How different did Molineux look back then? So much space between the pitch and the stands. Still full of inbreds though ;)
