  • Replacing sealed wheel bearings can seem like a daunting task. What sort of press do I need, how do I get them out and more importantly how do I get them in without damaging them.
In this tutorial I show you how to replace sealed cartridge bearings in your bicycle wheel the simple way and you don't have to waste money on tools like a specialist wheel bearing press. In fact, the way I am going to show you using what I have in my workshop will work as good or better than what is considered the 'professional tool'.
This really couldn't be easier if you take your time and follow the steps I show you. Get rid of that slow rough hub and have a smooth fast ride that lasts for ages.
Once you're done check out my other wheel maintenance and building videos...
Learn how to set up your own bike successfully and you will get a great sense of satisfaction and achievement.
As always, if you are in doubt or don't feel confident about your bike maintenance, go and speak to a professional bike mechanic.

That sounds like the cassette lock ring is in the way. Often you can't even get the axle out without removing the lock ring. Hope you have sorted it out 👍
