- Dal khichdi - a simple yet super comforting meal a recipe for which everyone needs to know!
Ingredients I used:
- 1/2 cup rice
- 1/2 cup toor dal
- 1/4 cup moong dal
- 1/4 cup masoor dal
- 1 tbsp oil + 1 tbsp ghee
- 3/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 3/4 tsp cumin seeds
- pinch of hing
- few curry leaves
- 2 green chillies, slit
- 1/2 tbsp ginger, finely chopped
- 1/2 tbsp garlic, finely chopped
- 1 and 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- water as needed
- coriander leaves, finely chopped

It's looking so delicious i want to try at my home....
Add some dahi salad along with it and it will take your khichdi to another level., for salad take chopped onion, tomatoes, salt and a pinch of sugar. Khichdi and this salad combo is divine.
May i know how much water to take please
I usually add 2.25 cups of water for khichidi for 1 cup of (rice+dhal) and keep the stove on mid flame and turn off the pressure cooker on the very first whistle so the food doesn't get burnt. It's not too runny or sticky. If it's runny, i will just let it sit for a min after tadka. Your results may vary.
