Even being a Volvo lover, I'm surprised that MAN didn't beat them into having the first most powerful OTR truck. Congratulations Volvo. You are the best. RT
After driving the Volvo FH480 Euro 4 through Europe I can say it's a wonderful drive for sure. This will be dream to drive one day. Kudos to Volvo for this one!
ever driven a powerfull truck like that?. its pure joy letting that engine loose. this is not the heaviest rig, but many wants the power even if they could have managed with a smaller engine.
ESSA É A VOLVONA. MINHA PAIXÃO. QUEM SABE ALGUM DIA POSSA TER UMA DESSA, E TRANSPORTAR O PROGRESSO E O DESENVOLVIMENTO PARA TODA A SUDAMÉRICA. THANK YOU ALL ENGENIEERS OF THE VOLVO. WARMS REGARD'S FLÁVIO - SÃO PAULO
In Norway and Sweden you need all that power! You would understand if you have been driving truck here! We too often see east and south europeean 2 axle trucks with 3-400hp stuck in the winter, or crawling their way slowly over the steep mountains because their way underpowerd for our roads!
VOLVO es el mejor desde siempre, aqui en peru con las carreteras mas agrestes del mundo ,VOLVO sube desde el nivel del mar hasta 5000 metros sobre el nivel del mar. Scania and Mercedez is sensitive machine are not available for off-road routes of peru
us truckers turnup their engines for years 800-900hp not a problem for them i bet these volvo will be preaty popular in scandinavia cos' sweds want to introduce 90t rigs
im about to drive one of these in about two weeks. :P my class is going to visit volvo in göteborg. :P then were gonna try the newest volvo trucks and cars :P
I met a companyowner from Holland yesterday in Oslo. He told me he had ordered the new R740. Nice.. The one he drove now was a tuned uped R620 with 850hp. 3500nm.. The thing about Scania is that they measure their hp on the rear axle and Volvo in the transmission. So Volvo doesn´t count the loss between the transmission and axle. So Scanias R620 is stronger than Volvo 660
@cas1029... Here is the states our standard trucks wouldnt need that much HP, only trucks here that would need it is Heavy Haulers & our Turnpike guys.
the only reason Volvo gets so high torque numbers is only because they don't bother making V8 engines, the I6 is a much better option when making an engine manly used to tow heavy things, because you get more displacement per cylinder, longer stroke and therefor more torque, it's the beauty of the simplicity Volvo are leading :)
Actually alot of people that simply dont drive trucks but have an interest in them see volvo trucks as inferior in one way or another to say, a peterbilt or a western star. This is flaed logic. Ask ANY truckie, and they will put their pay down to tell you that Volvo trucks are the most quiet and smooth trucks going round. They really are the luxury end of the market in trucking. And Horspower? Just look up what the FH16 can do. It can probably move your little village in under a week.
@bykashka75 It is best to load the truck so the load is balanced between all the wheels, that way you reduce the rolling resistance slightly. Also, getting it low in the trailer is good too, gives better balance in corners, such as on and off ramps from highways. Mind you, if it's snowy, getting a bit of extra weight up towards the pulling wheels can be an advantage for traction. Most forklift drivers usually know about this when they load trucks.
What amazes me in Europe they have single axles. How much weight are you carrying? Over here its 80,000 pounds max, any more requires a permit. And that much power to a single axle too, wow.
@bykashka75 No, putting all the weight on just the trucks wheels, or the trailers wheels, is not as efficient as distributing the load over both sets of wheels. The less you compress the tire, the smalle the contact patch will be, and thus the less the rolling resistance as well. You also heat the wheels up a bit less, and wear them more evenly. There is a small fuel saving too, but it's not big. The biggest advantage, is stability. Particularly onbendy roads. Low gravity is good !
Im 14 Years old. I´m driving this Truck at my Birtday. The Truck is very still good. But im driving 25km/h XDD But my dad driving his truck at his work. :D
well, I think the Volvo has 12 speed and they come in 4x2, 4x4, 6x2, 6x4 and 6x6 so it would do well, at lest they do well here in Iceland and we have a lot of mountains and more slippery roads than you do in Canada because we don't get the same cold (I know it sounds stupid but ice is far more slippery at freezing point than -20°C)
who needs more than 460hp except heavy duty transports... for standart transports its wasted money and diesel if i had the money, i would buy one anyway, love that volvo :P
im not too sure about any of the newer ones, can only get them in america under special order, but mid 90s the hump encroaches all the way into the sleeper, and only seen very few cab overs with even a decent sized sleeper, none the less an OTR Sleeper. I also dont even think scanias are availavle in america, I have never seen not even 1 scania outside of the internet.
This Volvo FH16 700 is the king of the highways! Very strong!
US truckers..this is the strongest truckengine at this moment!!!

imagine that you drive this rig...with such a truck, there is no way the driver can meet fatigue. it's just...a dream.

After this video I want to be a truck driver.

Scania and Mercedez is sensitive machine are not available for off-road routes of peru
there are only two brands of trucks: the old Volvos and new Volvos!

i bet these volvo will be preaty popular in scandinavia cos' sweds want to introduce 90t rigs
I'm getting my license to drive heavy trucks next year, if everything goes as plan, and I just HAVE to drive an FH16 at some point during my career.
im about to drive one of these in about two weeks. :P my class is going to visit volvo in göteborg. :P then were gonna try the newest volvo trucks and cars :P
Its beautiful. And engine is even more:)
best truck ever
uma grande maquina para uma carreta dessa. gostei parabéns
Volvo is the best!!!!!!
@MrTrucknugget Thats taken from the old saying for ford, "Old Fords Never Die, They Just Gets Faster"
We just had the volvo fh16 720hp in so we cut see it. And it is still a straight 6.
I met a companyowner from Holland yesterday in Oslo. He told me he had ordered the new R740. Nice.. The one he drove now was a tuned uped R620 with 850hp. 3500nm.. yes...but there will be always people that want a unique car/truck with prestige and power, not that what everyone gets...
@cas1029... Here is the states our standard trucks wouldnt need that much HP, only trucks here that would need it is Heavy Haulers & our Turnpike guys.
O FH É O SONHO DE TODO MOTORISTA
it is a real beauty

@n33dyr1 totally agree...
some of the ones made for new zealand have three drive axels on prime movers...
Cool Truck!
Very Impressive!
Awesome truck, thank you for sharing
Very beautiful
amazing,great engineering

That's not bad. 700 Hp and 3150 Nm of Torque! Wow. As far as I recall it's a 16 litre straight six.. ?
@n33dyr1 here in europe we have many uphills...horses are for the uphill purpose!
Im 14 Years old.
I´m driving this Truck at my Birtday. The Truck is very still good.
But im driving 25km/h XDD But my dad driving his truck at his work. :D
@n33dyr1 6x2 is for very heavy loads like bulldozers or cement blocks......with 4x2 you save diesel and it drives easier than a 6x2 tractor!

MARAVILHOSA....MEU SONHO!!!
AGRADEÇO AOS ENGENHEIROS DA VOLVO.
FLAVIO - TOURWAY
SÃO PAULO - BR
@teamakita
you dont need that power in low gears...you need it uphill for constant speed
1.Scania R730
2.Volvo FH16 700
3.MAN TGX 41.680
4.Mercedes-Benz Actros 1861 (612hp)
Yea, I understood :) Thank you
I must drive it!!
we can build houses that are incredibly efficient,do we,not for the masses. We can build extremely quiet trucks,do we no,but Volvo did
scania rated to 620hp actually, and possible 720 hp motor on the way..still love the volvo though.
I hate cab overs but that is one good lookin truck.
it looks great !!!
@getous alrigth well take care and let me know how ur trucking career goes
and of course be safe
thank you for you comment ya is correct I am a driver too I feel sleepy went I am on the road and the engine is loader then the radio.
Volvo Still A Volvo .. not like other companies :)
who needs more than 460hp except heavy duty transports...
for standart transports its wasted money and diesel
if i had the money, i would buy one anyway, love that volvo :P
U need more than 500HP in Australia for all the b-doubles and road trains :P
im not too sure about any of the newer ones, can only get them in america under special order, but mid 90s the hump encroaches all the way into the sleeper, and only seen very few cab overs with even a decent sized sleeper, none the less an OTR Sleeper. if you put it in a 6x4 or 6x6 configuration, yes it would.
Volvo Trucks and Volvo Cars isn't the same outfit
It sounds so quiet compared to American trucks.
Kiedyś to było
What fuel consumption r u getting with full load?
Do you think 6x2 gives better fuel than 6x4 whilst still being as safe?
it is amazing.
Excellent!!!
@getous well thats cool mabey you should do some videos of ur trucking career
The best trucks are Volvo FH16 with power and durability
What about the latest version of it which is the Volvo FH?
yeah exactly!! and with 1000bhp and a majority still limited to 55mph..and imagine the cost of fuel on one..:O..u wud want a tank beside ya..:O
U can drive volvos i-shift manually to. only the first gears i think
wonderful.....very good
awesome! nice! look like cadillac!
volvos are king i drove an FM10 once savage truck im sure the newer ones are even better
que buen camion!!
I'm still waiting to see what Scania is gonna come up with as an response to the FH 750 ;)
volvo power!!!
Do any of you people who say 700 HP is a Waste of Diesel even DRIVE Trucks for a living?
what's the engine limit resourses? how many kilometers can the truck go? like 2-3million kilometers?
@Xantec
More Hp translates to more Torque = better fuel economy.
@ahchuan2000
That's why it has a radio ;)
I have heard a rumor that Scania will start with 720 hp soon :-)
che stupenda macchina
Most trucks are with more axles - in Europe too.
