In 15 years on TH-cam, I have never commented on a Video. This dock build using Vanilla assets is incredible. It is so good, I actually took the time to write my first comment. Great work!
@@JoPsyph Don’t be so close-minded. Of course I’ve seen plenty of comment-worthy content, but most videos everyone watches are from massively popular creators. I felt encouraged to comment because this channel wasn’t huge at the time, and was one of the only content creators putting out quality Valheim build guides on TH-cam. I just wanted to support the channel.
You have inspired me to make ambitious structures in Valheim, I am working on a blacksmith hut+storage+docking+ship shelter all in one huge structure for the last 5-8 hrs. I have taken ideas from a few different builds of yours. Your builds are functional, intuitive and I like how you approach building by first laying the framework. Instead of getting confused by following multiple people on TH-cam, you are my go-to guy, your videos are short not hours long, are full of great ideas and your structures are as good as anybodys. Thank you for inspiring me and sharing these amazing builds with the world. Valheim is a true masterpiece and you are one of its master craftsmen.
I especially love how you made skylights with ladders! I've been placing ladders on top of 45 roofs for both decoration and to be able to walk on them, but I'd never considered replacing a whole roof with them. I'm going to add some skylights to my builds now!
The problem is things below them deteriorate, they're not proper roof panels. Also, if it's a work bench, it won't work since it requires a roof. That being said, I use them as well.
I've learned that lining the ladders on all sides with the wooden beams does help with the rain damage and lack of roof. It's not perfect, but it helps a ton! Another thing is to just whack some open shutters on the sides of the big windows, that helps with being sheltered too!
its been 3 years of this video, but now i just watch it for the first time and almost make me cry, this is so beatiful, great work. thank you for the inspirations
You are ridiculously talented with your vision. You have inspired me to push myself further with your designs. I have learned so much just by re-creating your video builds. I learn something new every time, and now have the skill to customize your designs to fit my environment and different ideas. Thank you for what you're doing. Your interior design has taken my game to the next level as well. You are therapeutic!
A nice design. Having built several longship docks myself, I might recommend adding another 2 meters to the width of the dock to make it easier to berth the longship, especially in stormy conditions.
@@MichaelGlitzos Not sure what your point is. Can't build this boat shelter, at least with the stone flooring, unless you are already in the iron age, as Vetlive obviously is. Easy to add 2 meters to the width at this point.
As far as the music goes, there's a big spoon of Stellaris' "Towards Utopia" in there, and you won't change my mind. As far as the build goes: godaaaaayumn, as always. I love your stuff. It really inspires my builds.
Tried this design on my own. The guide was easy enough to follow. One big issue is that one of the new patches updated the way smelters and charcoal kilns work so now they produce smoke and require ventilation.
So, I just recently started playing this game, like this last month. And I am so glad I found your channel. I love this build, and while I have not been able to get to the iron ....yet....I have figured out how to do this build without it. And I love it! My current build on this design is version 2, and made out of wood, and I love it! Thank you for doing these.
It is indeed a very nice build, but when I recreated it I was doubting the roof section where you added the staircase as a means for windows. Sadly when it rains it damages anything underneath.
@@boopjackrex7598so change the building to suit it. Doesn’t have to be an exact replica you know 🤦🏽♂️ put the stairs above water or something, change the layout, etc
Man that's a beautiful build, and useful! Love the use for ladders for rooftop light wells. Of course, you have the annoyance of them not being "true roof tiles" but hey, it does do great for esthetics
i just start play valheim 2 week ago .. watching u video was give me satisfaction because i sux in design my own base whaha .. all my house was box shape .. i really envy to those good in design their own base .
Thank you so much for this guide i was stuck in builders block and could not for the life of me figure out how to do a boat house but thanks to you i have been inspired and now kno wwhat im going to build
Thank you Vetlive, the amount of different builds you are doing are giving inspirations to many out there that love this game. Thank you from one of the many you have inspired to do amazing feats in terms of doing buildings in Valheim
i've been waiting for this one! :) so many new cool details like the 26 degree x's above the windows and ladders in the roof. space-utility ratio is amazing here! excellent build for those of us who'd like to keep our fps up!
You should add bumpers to where ship stands so when tide happens, your ship wont wreck your dock. An assembly for moving the cart in-out of boat would ve been a good addition, while you can put cart in, there could be a ramp to take it off aswell, Good build. Wp.
Awesome, appreciate that you build by hand without using the floating character mode too. I prefer to build stone out into the water as a base, quite difficult to place the blocks but it does not degrade as core wood does and stops a lot of griefing from creatures messing with your boat as it is built directly to the bottom of the water without gaps Your videos are amazing, I've downloaded some of your creations from Discord. Unreal.
OMG. This is brilliant!! I want one just like it. You have such creative sense. I've bookmarked this video so I can play it as I build a boat house JUST LIKE IT!!
Looks as if the sails will hit on trying to exit dock. That was a major issue with mine. I could paddle backwards in since the sails would line up with ship. but would go back to across when trying to go forward.
@Vetlive do you have a Spotify playlist of the songs you use in your videos? Your music selection is as outstanding as your builds. Keep up the great work!
Thumbnail at 0:05 Additionally, hello from a newish Valheim player. After scrolling around for a while, saw this thumbnail and it was like angles were singing to me like that SpongeBob episode where the jellyfish are carrying him… Anyway, thanks for the video!
I will never understand where you get these beautiful ideas. My most "amazing" builds look like boxes compared to yours even trying to add texture just so gorgeous
Tried to make my own when I got the karve, for the most part it came out good, I learned a lot in the making of it however and if I were to do it again I think I'd do better than before, originally I was just going to make a dock until some unruly boar decided they didn't like my new boat being so close to the shore, then I committed to the boat house idea
"How to make a simple boat shelter" Make a U in the water, put a roof over it. + interior *insert fully functional base here* 😂😂 Honestly man this build was way better than expected.
I'm following exactly how your doing it bit when I go to build the last 2 45° wood beam 2m they always break, the log says its green but when I go to place it doesn't work 2:20
This is awesome, but just one question, how do you keep the exterior beams from rotting in bad weather? Your builds are beautiful, but I always have part that rots and looks ugly after I'm finished.
I have one question. Does the ship hit against the walls or ceiling when there is a storm with big waves? I had this problem quite a lot after building a jetty for it with the same distance that you used when there was a storm with big waves on the water. Had quite problems with it.

Thanks for this comment. I was just wondering how he could do such small 45° beam. This is so créative!

The issue is structural stability. You're not going to have that until the iron age (with the iron beams as seen in the video)

This is perfect. I have a covered boat launch at my current base, but not super-happy with it so this helped me very much.
