- In this video, I share four key lessons every new rider should understand before hitting the road. From the importance of budgeting for protective gear before buying a motorcycle to the value of continuous training, these insights can make a world of difference in your riding experience and safety. I also emphasize how riding skills can deteriorate without regular practice and the crucial role that road strategy plays in keeping you safe on the streets. Whether you're just starting out or have been riding for years, these tips will help you become a more confident and prepared rider.

This will sound completely ridiculous, but its the internet I'll be the idiot - shops that sell helmets need a wind tunnel. I want to test the helmet for wind noise before I pay for it.
Not idiotic, brilliant!
Not just wind noise, also the effect of wind on the helmet. I once bought a peaked adventure helmet, it was terrible to wear, with the wind grabbing the peak and constantly wanting to tilt my head backwards. Not at all pleasant on long trips.
It would be expensive but not a horrible idea. I wear ear plugs so they are all quiet for me. 👍🏻
Best idea I’ve heard in 60 years. The last one I remember was was when I was 8
I wear earplugs and they are a game changer. I can't ride without them now. If you don't you will get tinnitus eventually
Riding is Riding - Training is training - What a great Mantra - It should be a shirt!
Had to emergency brake recently and was able to pull it off because of practice due to watching these videos. You are saving lives and misery. Thank you and keep the shiny side up everyone.
For the budget topic: bikes are more expensive to maintain than a car. Example: tires are expensive and they don't last long -- I get maybe 4-5k miles on my rear tire. Budget accordingly, you do not want to be cheaping out on the maintenance items.
I always ride with a Helite Turtle airbag. I've had two crashes over the years, one a highside at 60mph, and that vest has saved me from being killed or paralysed. The increased trauma protection is great, but a good one like the Turtle blows up a massive C-collar under your helmet so that your head doesn't get bounced around and your brain scrambled insed your helmet. Plus its a big high-vis vest.
Stood up and walked away with only a broken arm.
Yeah had I known I would use my helmet this much. I would of spent more for a quieter helmet. I should of got auxiliary lights sooner. I like my safety toed work boots for riding. But my shifter has a great deal of adjustments to it.
So I totally bought the motorcycle before I bought the helmet but I think that’s perfectly fine because I didn’t write it until I got my helmet so the price of the motorcycle didn’t affect what kind of helmet I got because I got a 2020 Honda supercar that I paid $3300 for and then I ended up going with a ari helmet and it’s been a very comfortable. My one complaint is I can’t open the visor with my gloves on so for that reason, I think I’m gonna go with a show for my next helmet after this one has run its course.
Once again exlant advice thanks for posting ride safe good travels

TY for Sharing
ATGATT folks!
Thank you
I find the problem with some of the advanced motorcycle courses is that they don't provide the motorcycles or gear. I don't live in the United States does your program provide gear and motorcycles
Advanced courses assume you have gear and a motorcycle already. New riders often don’t.
You can’t be an advance rider if you aren’t practicing the basics on your own motorcycle. The beginner courses are just a few hours of practice. You need exponentially more than that to even be a decent rider let alone advanced.
If you truly are that advanced of a rider without owning your own motorcycle then look into Superbike School.
To add here: the point of the more advanced classes is that the instructor is teaching you to control the bike that you own. It's not ideal to take the class on some random (tiny) bike that you don't normally ride.
I have two bikes and have only taken the advanced class once. I want to retake the class with my other bike now -- I just need to get it scheduled.
Just an FYI: Practically everyone in the class dropped their bike, so best to ensure you have engine guards to protect your bike from the inevitable drops during the class.
