I LOVE how positively this song paints introverts! Never once does he try to get her to be more social or leave the house. He just accepts her the way she is and celebrates it!!

I had to say thank you to the holderness family, because right now I've been an introvert, not by total Choice, but I've had to recover from several surgeries on my knees, and their videos, have helped me get through some dark times when I've been in so much pain. Their videos give me something to look forward too, on the days when I'm not feeling so great. Thank you. I'm also grateful that there are so many other introverts out there like me, and I really hope by summer I'm able to start getting out there again with my husband. The first line of this song that Penn wrote, could have been written by my husband! I'm lucky if I can find a skirt, let alone one that fits at the moment!🤣🤣

I'm having some issues with my vision. I told a friend that I'd rather lose my hearing than my sight. They acted so shocked! I was shocked that they couldn't understand. But, I guess if you actually like noise it's different. Ugh! I don't!
YES! I mean…yes. Everything does seem SO loud. Of course, I think I married the loudest man on earth, so there’s that.

I didn't know how much of an EXTROVERT I was.
Sunny looked like she really enjoyed doing this video too...naps AND a walk, throw in some treats and that's like golden retriever heaven right there:) I love visiting one on one or a small group of family/close friends, but big group of strangers literally can give me a panic attack. And then after about 3 hours, I can feel my batteries reaching the end of their charge and need to go home and be in a quiet, dark room for a bit. I love the extroverts in my life though! We need someone to organize social events and drag us out of the house every so often lol.
Penn deserves a shout out for coming up with the lyrics to this video. Talk about perfect! And yes, I can relate. I feel like I’m an actor playing the party role when I have to attend a function and when I’m home the mask comes right off.
Yes! Most people don’t realize that I’m an introvert because I can “be social” when required. I even enjoy it in the right circumstances. It’s just that it takes a day of solitude to recover.
I watched this from what I call "my quiet room." It's literally a smallish walk-in closet at the end of the hall that I claimed, painted navy blue, and shoved a GIGANTIC fuzzy bean bag and my weighted blanket into. I come here when I've had enough people-ing and need a break and most of the time, don't even bother turning on the light. Just scroll through my phone and/or have a nap. It's GLORIOUS!

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND!!! My dad was an extrovert, my mom an EXTREME introvert - I got both of their personalities. I can totally be the life of the party and thoroughly enjoy it - however, something will click and my extrovert juice will run out and I just need to be alone! A lot of people don't understand. One moment I am the life of the party and the next moment - poof I am gone..went home early because I was all done and desperately needed silence and to be alone.

You just described me too. I only do people for an hour or two a day. And then I need to recharge. Too many people and I pick up on their feelings, emotions, and energies. Being alone helps me recharge.

@@theholdernessfamily that’s crazy, in addition to discovering what I consider myself to be is called an ambivert within the past few weeks, I also recently discovered I’m an empath in the past few months! I always thought being an empath meant you had to feel things to the extreme, but that’s not necessarily the case. It can be exhausting being around other people, but a lot of it depends on what they’re putting out.
Do you find if you watch the news too much it also messes with your energy and feelings? It does to me so I have to limit myself there also.
@@asugarholicslife Yes. I have to know when to cut it off and go do something else. What else bothers me is large crowded areas with lots of people.
I totally understand how you feel Kim. I’m definitely an introvert. I retired at the end of March 2020. Staying home during the pandemic 😷 has not been a punishment for me.

I so understand this. As an introvert, I love being alone. Small talk is hard. Instead of a party I would rather have a deep conversation with one person. All of this is so true! And I am also married to an extrovert, who can talk to anyone, anywhere, about anything, and loves it.
Same here. Married to an extrovert but I’m very much an introvert. I can definitely make small talk if I have to, but it’s so draining. Especially if it lasts more than 30 minutes

Me to a T! Both this and the anxiety video were great (although I have less of the latter, it's definitely there). I've always had extroverted friends, good ones, that helped me out of the shell for a time, but for them I gave them the quiet time they needed at times without being entirely alone. My first migraine happened stuck in a room with four excitable extroverts. I felt like the Grinch: "All the noise, noise, noise!" but without a need to make someone else unhappy. Shudder. Give me a book, a blanket, a cup of hot tea, and I'm golden.
10000% my relationship with my hubby. He is all about hanging out with people and socializing. Give me comfy pants and alone, quiet time!! :)

This is so me. I'm a consultant and I work with people all day. After being "on" for hours, I have to have some alone time to recharge. That means cocooning in bed with some Kava tea and some TH-cam videos. I like being around people and I'm very outgoing, but I can only do it for so long before I'm emotionally and mentally exhausted and need to get away and chill out and reset.
I think it's so important to know what you need
I offer the term 'Ambivert'. You are able to enjoy aspects of both the extrovert and introvert traits. It is akin to being ambidextrous.
@Anthony Vandergugten I definitely feel that. Sometimes, I can go out and have fun and need to talk. Other times, I need to be by myself.
This video speaks to me as well! I took care of my mom (dementia) and worked full time. When she passed 5 1/2 yrs ago, I became an introvert. I was EXHAUSTED and thoroughly enjoyed my alone time. The pandemic made it even more comfortable to burrow down, so to speak. I love spending time with friends and family, but only occasionally and only for a couple of hours at a time.

Kim, I just read your “Introvert Origin Story” from the email. Fellow INFJ here, also an HSP. I should be at my son’s baseball game right now, but instead I’m sitting on my couch with a blanket and a cup of coffee absorbing all the words I can read. I am a teacher and after a week of kids chattering every day, Saturday mornings are hard. Thank you for sharing this. So many people don’t understand.

The difference between a introvert and extrovert is that an introvert needs three days to recover between socializing with people and an extrovert just keeps going! Extraverts believe I hate people. I don't. I love people. I just need 80% down time and 20% people time.
This was so cool. I’m definitely like this. When I’m in public around a lot of people, I can be “in” the scene but get bored very quickly (more so as I’ve gotten older) and want to leave. I extremely rarely hung out with coworkers after work and less than a handful of those I consider friends. Definitely an introvert.
I always love the introvert/extrovert stuff you do because my husband is an extrovert and I’m an introvert, so we always want to do different things. Luckily, my hubby has lots of guy friends that he can do things with and I get to stay home and binge watch something while he’s at Buffalo Wild Wings watching 5 games at one time.

I love how much Sunny appears in this video :) My husband and I are a bit of both. We like to be with other people and at a party, but after about an hour or so, we've had enough and then want to go home and spend the rest of the time introverting. We've been together so long, we can each do our own introvert next to each other with occasional looking up asking, "You good?" and "I love you" and occasional reaching out to hold hands and hug ending up with a wonderful night
I love this! I'm older and not in a relationship and I am fine with it! People want me to go out and meet someone and I'm just fine by myself. Y'all show how it works when you are in a relationship and you are an introvert. Great video! I could have used it in my old relationship as he always had to be going out and it made me miserable. He died and a part of me felt free. I just love you guys! Now that you won the Amazing Race, you could get credentials to be councilors and help people one on one! I loved how you handled the money. I can totally relate to this video. I don't like parties and I don't like being in crowds. I work with people all day but when I come home I just want to be by myself and read or watch TH-cam videos. And I introvert all weekend! I need my alone time!
This is such a healthy relationship model! They understand they need different things to recharge and encourage each other to do that rather than demanding they stay joined at the hip.
So relatable! I am a total extrovert, but since the pandemic, I have to become half introvert and half extrovert. There are days when I can't wait to see my friends and be out, and there are days when I need to recharge by being an introvert just like Kim. You guys are honest and real with a hilarious edge! Growing up, I always thought I was extrovert but I realized that is how I wanted to be and I didn't acknowledge I was in fact introvert. I love doing things alone and how much energy I use to be out with large group of people. I love people like Kim but I value my "me" time so much to be me.

I'm an introvert like Kim and this song speaks to my soul! Hanging out with people is nice and all but can be extremely draining, I find energy in my own solitude where I can listen to music, watch movies and write songs, that's how I get my energy. Love this parody! 🤩😍
This is so relatable. I'm an introvert and also have anxiety, so social settings are sooo hard for me. I'm okay with a few people I know well, but I need time alone to de-stress and re-energize.
As an introvert I would say the hardest part is going on trips with extroverts who refuse to compromise lol

I was thinking last week that Kim is my spirit animal (spirit person?) and this video just seals the deal. I easily spend 6-7 hours a day dealing with people over Zoom and all I wanna do at the end of the day is play with my cat, read a book, watch/listen to your videos or podcast, and drink a little wine. Spending my free time with other people is generally not my idea of a good time. Thankfully my partner is also pretty introverted, so we mostly just putter about the house.
So true. I work at a tourist destination driving carriages and I LOVE people but at the end of the day I need alone time!

I'm the same. My hubby is an extrovert. I do admit most of the time I do enjoy myself when we go to events together, but the time getting ready I often dread going for no other reason than I'd rather be comfy at home. It is exhausting and I have found myself finding a quiet corner at a party from time to time with some fellow introverts to recharge. I watch Outlander, though. :)

There were a couple of times watching you on the amazing race and I felt a few times you pushing through when I would have hit a wall and said, nope, not gonna happen. No more challenges today, I need alone time. This is the truest thing and introverts feel seen.
