Tip about the traction, rather than releasing the throttle, try instead to just bring in the clutch a bit, it allows you to maintain your revs and control. If you release the throttle you're also releasing your means of control.

i have the facelifted version of this as my first bike. 2 years and 14000 km in now. I did driving school on a 77 hp Yamaha XJ6 so a similar sized 4 cyl seemed alright for a first bike.
i did briefly ride an MT07 in driving school as they had them new and more fuel efficient back then and they encouraged it. I politely asked for the 4 cyl XJ6 back as i found the low-down torque in the MT07 a bit too much for my skill. (i loved the low weight of the MT07 though)
I just wanna say i was wrong to pick this as a first bike. It's way too much power and i've only just started to stop being afraid of it. At first it felt as if past 6 or 7 k rpm, all hell broke loose.
i got used to it lacking the gear indicator (driving school yamaha did not have it either). It's not a dealbreaker.
Now i find the biggest downside on this bike is the WEIGHT at about 213- 215 kgs. All cheap steel, baby! i have had brief experience with other random bikes and this one feels HEAVY.
Word of a advice for new riders, go small... Like a 300-500 tops, at first. No more than 50 hp.
You learn much quicker when you're not constantly afraid of it. Develop skill to max a 300 out and then go bigger.
PS: i was 34 when i started riding. No previous experience whatsoever, not even a moped. Maybe that matters, but anyway, my two cents.
PS2: the Dunlop tyres it normally comes with are complete shit. A set of Michelin Road 6s completely transformed the thing and inspire much more confidence. Feels more or less planted, not twitchy anymore. Especially in the rain where the Dunlops utterly sucked by comparison, both front and rear !

I must admit my only experience was a year on a 125cc so jumping on this after passing my full A license seemed like a big jump also, the weight and power once you get into the rev range past 7/8k seemed crazy at first but after a few months of riding now I think I’m getting used to it so I get what you mean.
I would agree about getting a 400/500 first if you haven’t had any experience at all but at the same time I wanted to get a motorbike to keep for a few years and learn slowly and I think I’d want to change after season if I jumped on a 500, but thank you for your feedback and experiences, it’s awesome to hear other people’s journeys 🙏

@@RevWithMac i agree with a smart purchase to grow into and not have to swap within the first year or two already. I mean finance is obviously important for most these days. A year's headstart on a 125 is already a big steal as it introduces you to high speed traffic and dynamics while not allowing for too much else !! At the same time, i do honestly believe i would have crashed and died if i had this bike at 18 or 21, while young and courageous (stupid). Luckily, I did manage to put > 300k km of traffic wisdom (albeit in cars) under my belt before i had this bike. Middle age kinda casts its own perspective on speed and safety as well, i think. I am generally quicker on my bike now than most of my middle aged biker friends. And it's the same in a car, but that''s not to say i am safer. As you said, depends on who you are, everyone's journey is different more or less.

yeah a quick shifter would make this bike way more fun! I am debating getting an aftermarket exhaust as I know how good these can sound, not sure which one I should go for, you got any recommendations?

@@RevWithMacGreat looking bike you got there!
Dominator makes great 'bang for buck' exhausts, however, if you prefer something with more bass and have a higher budget then Delkevic exhausts are superb, only problem with Delkevic is import duties outside of UK unfortunately. Whichever you end up choosing it'll be a world of difference from the stock, best wishes from Poland. :)

thank you! so it's very basic at the moment but it does the job well - I run a GoPro Hero 6 on a chin mount, along with a Purple Panda mic and had to get a 3.5mm adapter from GoPro, here's a link if you wanna check it out -

Great video mate 👍 I really do like the look if the 650f. But how much is insurance coming out on it. Ive recently passed my license and for anything halfway new I'm being quoted thousands of pounds.

It really depends on your age, experience, location and bike but In my case I'm 27 and this is my first ever bike (other than a 125cc but that was years ago) so no - no claim bonuses or anything, for fully comp I'm paying around £600 a per year, which is not bad at all.

Do you think it would be a good bike for first bike fully? Looking at getting it only bad thing is insurance is 2600🤣

forgot to say Restricted to 47bhp

I think if you had some experience on a 125cc it’s a great starter “bigger” bike, if it’s your first ever bike it might be bit too much tbh, I’d rather get something smaller first (cheaper to insure) then get a 650 unrestricted later on 🙏
