The biggest thing I noticed was that OSU was flat out more physical than the Vols. Not even close, the Buckeyes set the tone in the trenches.
@@Volsfanatic-kn3xw Will Howard was leading the country in completion percentage going into the MI game, and finished the season 4th. He also finished the regular season 3rd in both QB Rating and ESPN's Total QBR. Thats also after losing key linemen Josh Simmons to injury at OR (PFFs highest rated OT at the time and projected #1 or 2 OT drafted), and Seth McLaughlin (Remington winner despite missing final 3 games to injury). Howard wasn't some mid player. It makes no sense why people keep underestimating his talent.
Buckeye fan here and I am impressed by Vols fans showing up at the Horseshoe. Very dedicated fan base! Agree with you on getting better coordinators who are innovative with "out of the box" schemes and adjustments. OSU struggles against inferior teams because they play down to their opponents but tonight Day and Chip were playing for their jobs. Buckeye fans do not take kindly to losing to TTUN 4 years in row and a Natty does not change that.
At this point, I’m starting to believe OSU deliberately threw game against Michigan with the play calling. Been watching them ALL year and the play calling was unlike anything I’d seen before.
Vols fans. Do not hold your head down. OSU is a beast trying to get their footing and you met up with them after a loss they needed revenge for. What I saw from the Vols team were a team that is one year from having the ability and talent to win it all. Look ahead not back you need to see where you are going and not where you been. Your team is on the right track. Keep building and keep put in the pieces you need.
Fichigan game was lost because Day wanted to win a different way then how the team is built, especialy considering tOSU's best o'linemen were out, so repeatedly running up the middle was delusional thinking. Horrible game plan by Day, and because of his mental issues now developed after multiple l's vs Fichigan, he was too stubborn to make the appropriate in-game changes.
My honest opinion. The Vols used the scUM Blue Print coming into this game. Problem is that OSU used the same blueprint , as to not let it happen again. Throwing the deep ball right off the bat , while showcasing the Buckeyes formula 1 WR squad totally took TN away from the drawn out game plan. You mentioned how easy it was for OSU horizontally and in the Flats. That was due to the Vols having to keep 2 safeties back, along with forcing the LB’s to help cover the slot receiver. Especially when OSU put one in motion. Even when the Vols tried to stack 8 , it left either the TE wide open, or Jaylen Smith in a 1 on 1 out of the Slot. As far as the Buckeye Defense….. That’s a totally different monster that’s been consistent all year. But the Vols QB is tough and played his heart out. He took a pounding , and kept them in a position where it wasn’t too far out of hand. Mainly with his legs. Guy’s got guts , and I believe a bright future.
Sorry to say it but, Nebraska and Xichigan gave you the blueprint to what happens when our coaches don't do their job. Last night, the coaches did their job and allowed our players to play their game. When you put the game in the hands of the talented players.......They Win! I have no idea what was said during that players/coaches meeting after the L 2 weeks ago, but I think it went something like this: "Coach, let us play our game". Tennessee is a very good team. Hold your heads high. That freshman QB is going to ball in the next few years. As for coaching at Tennessee, drop the 2 extra wide outs scheme......way too one dimensional.
This was bad no way to sugar coat it. The players and coaches were not ready. Ohio State is a great team and they played with energy and focus. Tennessee was so flat. If the rest of the team would have played with even half of the heart that their qb did, it could have been a much closer game. It was still thrilling to see the Buckeyes back to kicking ass.
Nico played one of his best games last night, he made smart decisions most of the time, and ran well. He just had ZERO help from ANYONE else, not the O-line, not the defense, not the receivers, NO ONE.
As a Buckeye fan i was impressed by that kid to be honest. Idk how many times he got hit by Ohio States D line but he kept getting back up and giving everything he had. Vols need to be optimistic about his future, he has Heart.
I thought the running backs did a decent job. Sampson may have gotten loose for some longer runs had he been able to go, but Ohio State has been okay with occasional 20-30 yard runs as long as their red zone defense stayed tough. The most impressive play in the game was when Nico was able to run in that first TD.

You mentioned after 3 weeks to prepare. this is the game plan. Same goes for bye weeks, we play pathetic after a bye week. Just absolutely sad the way we played last night.
Yes, Michigan and Nebraska gave you the blueprint, but Ohio State got in their own way during those games so technically they didn’t. Ohio State shot their selves in their own foot during the Michigan game if they would’ve came out and did the same game plan against Tennessee they would’ve destroyed Michigan.
Even before their RB got hurt, TN was down 21-0. It would not have made a difference. The Vols had 179 yards against OSU's 1st team defense, but the problem wasn't just offense. NE and MI didn't have a blueprint, OSU just inexplicably tried running the ball first, they did not make that same mistake this game. OSU did whatever they wanted thowing the ball, and it opened up the running game. OSU's first team offensive possessions: TD, TD, TD, not an INT, Punt, FG miss, TD, TD, TD. Then the 2nd and 3rd string QB's came in early in the 4th to finish the game.
This team reminds me of the late Fulmer years. Zero imagination. Basic, generic play calling on both sides of the ball. Defense was absolute trash. The OL has been bad all 4 years Heupel has been here. The OL coach is Heupel’s best friend which means we’re stuck with him. Heupel will not put business above career. If Elarbee is the friend he pretends to be he’d resign today so that he’s no longer holding back OL development. You’re right, Banks does not make adjustments on the fly and his stats are built on bottom feeding teams. It was just a pathetic performance by coaches and players.
The problem is it didn’t matter what Tennessee did. You don’t have the athletes and skill guys to beat OSU. Your best corner couldn’t stop are best receiver, your offensive line was bullied by our D line. And our coaches out coached. Tennessee never had a chance.
Tennessee has many fine players but Ohio State is much more talented overall. The Buckeyes will waltz through the playoffs and establish itself as an all-time team. The offensive strategy changed after UM, which was stubborn, thin-skinned Ryan's attempt to out-muscle the Wolverines. The blocking scheme was changed from zone to a gap scheme. Oregon won by one point at home with Ohio State playing vanilla defense. I look for the Buckeyes to use a lot of stunts and blitzes to get pressure on Gabriel, whose running and deep passing was a complete departure for him. It won't surprise the Buckeyes this time.
A big thing here is the attitude on offense. With the desire to throw the ball downfield we become a different team. Much more dangerous. The only difference between this team on offense and the one that lost to UGA a few years ago is the QB isn’t as good but he’s got so many weapons.
This is a bunch of “let’s throw the baby out with the bath water” stuff. Getting rid of Banks would be ridiculous. Halzle and Elarbee could go. OSU’s roster is way better than ours. Stop thinking that UT is a championship contender every year. What part of our history suggests that? We have won ONE natty in the last 60+ years. Stop thinking that we should be winning natties every decade. We are not that program. We made the playoff-one of three SEC teams to do it. The season was a success. We just laid an egg last night. It happens. GBO!
Nah, the talent gap was insane. Once UT got smacked in the mouth, that’s all she wrote. Wouldn’t have mattered if you had Vince Lombardi calling plays.
To be fair we lost to Michigan because we did exactly the opposite of what we should of done when calling plays and even then we would of won that game 9 out of 10 times but it just happened that the 10th was the one that mattered. Our kicker sucks and we played conservative and kept running it down the middle. So yeah, I'm not sure that blue print would of worked because we actually decided to play to our strengths this game and just not power run it down the middle.
As a Buckeyes fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this but offensively, Chip Kelly added wrinkles that weren't on film such as putting Jeremiah Smith in the slot. We also incorporated more of a vertical passing game so the assessment of Nebraska and Michigan is inaccurate since we went out with a different game plan.
@@anthonyaliberti I agree. We should have relied on the strengths of our receivers more than what we did in that game. You seen Jeremiah draw two DPIs in the end zone in that game that would have been touchdowns if it wasn't committed. He's a cheat code!
Michigan spends every day of the year planning, practicing, recruiting specific players, running drills, etc…. specifically to beat Ohio State. Even if you do have 3 weeks it is difficult to prepare for them. Like you said, they are very beatable, but not like that…
Don't know why College Football fans just refuse to abandon this transitive property mindset that is never accurate anyway. Understand major college football is week to week, especially in this NIL/Portal world of parity. This is currently the 3rd iteration of Ohio State. Nebraska was after they lost All-American caliber LT, Michigan was after they lost Remington Award Winning Center. Credit those teams, but that was more about OSU playing down to the comp & the coaches thinking they could roll with a vanilla attack. Survived vs Nebraska, didn't vs Michigan. Now watch the offensive film vs Oregon (31 Points in Eugene & left points off the board) & Tennessee (42 points with starters out at 10 min mark of 4thQ) and those are completely different gameplans. I get wanting to watch some film for indications on OSU's deficiencies...but you really needed to think about those games with Penn State (a team probably comparable to UGA at this point) & Oregon (a team better than anyone Tenn has played). OSU lost 2 games by a combined 4 points..and the defense has been salty all year save for one game. The Volunteer offense has been atrocious on the road this season..truth be told most of the SEC has looked fairly pedestrian away from home and would NOT be overwhelming Vegas favorites vs other top 25 teams on *neutral* fields. Ohio State was the ultimate X-factor team going into this tournament, and give them close to a month to re-tool their online & 2 weeks to scheme and this result was way more of a possibility then Tennessee looking strong in Columbus. The rivalry game had people fooled..just because Ga Tech *should* have beat Georgia (and they should have) doesn't mean the next team will even if they are better than Tech. Each week/game in college football is like a season within itself.
If people want to win 10 regular games a year then this is your coaching staff ..if you want to win a national championship then it's time for a change . ITS TIME TO QUIT SETTLING .SHAME ON US VOLS FANS
The Tennessee offensive coordinator never gave Nico a chance to get good starts in the last few games ! He needed short competition passes ! Plus Nico is NOT the future of Tennessee football! The kid does not have any enthusiasm for the game , looks like another jay cutler just running to the sidelines to get to the bench !
If you watch the Nebraska game your watching a Buckeye team looking ahead. It wasn’t a blueprint to beat Ohio State. Ohio state was scared to lose to Michigan and didn’t play to win. Not a blueprint print especially if you get an aggressive Ohio State team and aggressive game plan. If you are watching those two games your setting yourself up for disappointment
Agree 100 percent Tim Banks needs to go Out coached anytime we played a legit team. His limited success is due to having good athletes. JH needs to re evaluate his staff. All that said, very proud of our team and those young men played hard all year.
I saw an interview with Josh before the game and he looked about as excited as roadkill. Your coach clearly has given up and no longer cares and that's why your team can't be successful. He had already lost the game in his mind before kick off. And the media needs to stop hyping up every freshman quarterback, with a difficult last name... They all think they have the next Tua.
I'm so sick of the 20$ million roster crap. Y'all try to make it sound like they went out and bought a team. Almost all that money went to seniors who committed out of HS three years ago. They only took six giys from the portal. Then y'all ignore Oregon and Texas who both spent more.
When we win the coaches are geniuses, when we get beat they are idiots and all need to be fired. Remember where we were at years ago, progress has been made, but we don't always embrace reality. Coaches coach, Players play, yesterday Ohio State was better on both fronts. We talked too much trash and as ttey say, put up or shut up and we couldn't put up simply because they have better talent bottom line and we a team has better talent it doesn't matter who is coaching, you're gonna take a beating. Learn from it, grow some humility, stop talking so much crap because no matter how you cook it that Crow will still taste like crap. Nobody in these comments took a hit on that field last night. Good season guys GBO

And the world famous buckeyesss win the game
When your coach gets out-coached by Ryan Day, and he did, your anger is righteous. And I agree, Howard is only mediocre.
It happens. GBO!
QBs from Hawaii don't like cold weather. End of story.
Tennessee, stop thinking that if you beat Alabama, you're good. Still not ready for Prime time, let Alabama do it.
Nah, the talent gap was insane. Once UT got smacked in the mouth, that’s all she wrote. Wouldn’t have mattered if you had Vince Lombardi calling plays.
One other thing, ohio state didnt play the same as they did Michigan either
Offensive coaching needs fired and defensive coaching sucked offense line can’t block disgrace🤮🤮🤮🤮
It was awful!
You run a high school predictable offense. Only works against inferior athletes.
Appreciate you watching. Good luck to ya'll.
@Volsfanatic-kn3xw of course! It was kind of cool seeing the Vols fans show up in droves here in Columbus. You all came out to support your team.
I don’t understand why we didn’t do that against Michigan. We would’ve stomped Michigan.
@@anthonyaliberti I agree. We should have relied on the strengths of our receivers more than what we did in that game. You seen Jeremiah draw two DPIs in the end zone in that game that would have been touchdowns if it wasn't committed. He's a cheat code!
I’ll get my comments of your page brother .. all love
Right back at ya, brother
NIL and transfer portal will destroy college football watch and see.
Still shocked as a Buckeye fan they didn't bracket Jeremiah Smith!!! You cannot leave him on an island with your CB.
Absolutely
Egbuka!
How was that stadium takeover??? 😂😂😂
as a Texas fan. We'll be taking over "UT". Yall can go go by Tenn if you'd. We got this
That OSU team was so mad/embarrassed by losing to Michigan they took it out on poor Tennessee.
They looked good!
It sounds like he is saying that Tenn should not have been in the payoff
When Ohio State plays with fire there was nothing Tennessee could of done. Bottom line is the Buckeyes are a better team.
I agree with that.
We was trash i have 0 problems saying that
You're 1,000% correct
Tennessee fan SEC fan. You didn't know that Tennessee is slow. You can't coach speed.😢
Agree 100 percent
Tim Banks needs to go
Out coached anytime we played a legit team. His limited success is due to having good athletes.
JH needs to re evaluate his staff.
All that said, very proud of our team and those young men played hard all year.
Absolutely, well said!
Just take that L bro and let it go out defense shut y’all down you guys couldn’t do anything
Trust me, I know. I watched every second of the ass kicking.
Will Howard doesn’t have to be great😂😂… he is average but makes the throws… if the line holds up, goodluck on the outside against those receivers…💯
I feel bad for Vols fans just got fraud checked in primetime and looked like a MAC team.
We looked more like an fcs team.
Florida use to kick the hell out of us during Fulmer's year's. And your right about Tim Banks overrated big time
I'm so sick of the 20$ million roster crap. Y'all try to make it sound like they went out and bought a team. Almost all that money went to seniors who committed out of HS three years ago. They only took six giys from the portal. Then y'all ignore Oregon and Texas who both spent more.
I agree with everything you said
Appreciate you watching!
This video is hilarious
Tennessee needs to be banned from the Sec and add Osu lol
