  • United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA)’s pro-talks faction Friday signed a tripartite peace accord with the Centre and the Assam government in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. While signing the Memorandum, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, ’this is a new start of a period of peace for the whole Northeast, especially Assam. I want to assure ULFA representatives that the faith you have kept in Govt of India, from the side of Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA), a programme will be made in a time-bound manner to fulfil everything, without you asking for it. Under MHA, a committee will be formed, which will work with the Assam govt to fulfil this agreement.’

From the body language of Amit Shah it is clear he is not too pleased with Himanta Biswa Sarma.

To suffice the incomplete information, ULFA has two factions - pro talk and armed. This tripartite peace accord has been signed with the pro talk faction while the armed faction remains at large in the jungles of the Indo-Myanmar border under the command of Paresh Baruah.
So, 'peace-restored' is just a gimmick unless the armed faction too is brought to discussion for they are the ones who disturb 'peace'.

Paresh Barua is not in Myanmar but in China the chief patron of ULFA.

You are people of Burmese origin and not natives of Tripura. You want separate land then go back to Burma from where your ancestors came.

There will never be any peace in NE because it was for 600 years under Chinese and Burmese occupation prior to 1832 when East India Company liberated North East from Burma and returned to India but with majority Chinese and Burmese origin people who have never accepted themselves as Indians to this day.
NE used to be a collection of Bengali kingdoms which were first invaded and occupied by Tai people from China followed by Burmese invasion from 1400 CE and eventual occupation till 1832 CE.
This is the crux of never ending unrests and insurgencies in NE aided and supported both by China and Burma right from 1947.
This part of Indian history is completely missing from our history books.
