Atlus is on top of its game right now. They are consistently putting out great things. A new IP makes me think of Catherine, one of the best and most unique games ever.
Name one game with that kind of gameplay and that kind of story. Further, name a game where the morals are not split between good and bad but something else like in Catherine. Ya cant!
I remember seeing this teaser back in the day and not understanding it completely. Now that the game was officially revealed, I can see what they meant by rethinking Fantasy RPG. I think that choosing to use real people in the trailer is directly tied to the story elements.
Ohh shit Atlus is switching things up, hopefully they can build this to be as involving a gameworld as Persona. Fantasy has so much potential and the creative talent at Atlus should be able to have a field day with all the freedom they have

After playing P4 and P5, I can say that Katsura Hashino is an excellent game director who isn’t afraid to deal with some mature themes and subject matter. If he’s directing this, I hope it will focus on war and the impact it has on humanity.
I remember reading about this game right after the release of Persona 5. It seemed interesting, and I couldn’t wait to see what they would offer us. I was impressed to see that Catherine Full Body has OSTs from the game, likely from when it was still in development. I'm now three weeks away from finally trying out this gem of a game.
I want this game instead of more mid Persona 5 spin-offs and milking of Persona in general. They seriously need a new IP and this seems like a breath of fresh air, but this still hasn’t had anything said about it in years. Might be a SMT 5 situation but with another Persona game on the horizon (Phantom X, a Persona 5 mobile game) and no news of this at all, I’m kinda worried.
While the modern version of the game looks pretty good I still feel as though it lacks the inspiration and grand vision they originally had for it that was present in this trailer, feel like they probably changed it mid development into a persona clone to play it safe.
how can you say that when zero gameplay or character designs were show here? also to me, it still feels like the fantasy and modern world mix is present.
The concepts here, along with the art seem more in line with traditional fantasy than Metaphor. Especially the other concept art with the red hair female protagonist. Wonder what happened in development.
@@sachi3673 it was mentioned today on the livestream that atlus did. It seems they want to do something with it in 2022 so probably we will have some new info soon
Man, I am so glad atlus exists. Been getting back into final fantasy these past few days, but there is always a underlying taste of dissapointment when I think about that series these days. Final fantasy means a lot to me, but outside of FF14, final fantasy has not made me feel anything but frustration and dissapointment ever since 13 released. I still have hope for 16, but we don't even know if they are already working on it. Knowing atlus is still make consistent quality jrpgs tho, feels amazing. And this project kind of seems to overlap with what I would like to see from final fantasy, so I am very interested. Really looking forward to seeing what this game will actually look like, and how it is going to play.
If you want a game like Final Fantasy but it sticks to its routes then play Dragon Quest. The good thing is, Dragon Quest 11 just came out and it's the perfect introduction to the series.

They should have definitely waited to put this out until a few years down the road. This trailer feels very low budget and shoddy with a collection of ideas rather than an actual game. Can’t say I have a lot of hope for this one at the moment.
It's true that the main focus for Studio Zero at the moment is the remastered Catherine (that game is not too far away if you live in Japan), and they are still recruiting members for this project (and others). However, what the trailer portrays as its theme seems straightforward (my opinion), not to say it will not completely change, either. The world that the game is taking place on seems to be depicted as one where the narrator seems regretful of both inherent warmongering and what could be divide through differences of ethnicity that may/may not lead to racism. That being said, the narrator feels that all have a hope for a better world, but their individuality makes that idea of an ideal world different. The last depiction, showing a modern setting of peace and modernity could potentially show that nothing is perfect. Though things improve technologically, and we have done our best to implement ways to care for each other, the truth is that it does not always work out so smoothly. The faults are that there will be disagreements (sorcery as it is discussed) belie any single person's idea of perfection. Each person depicted had a different idea of what they wished for, and it would obviously clash with each other in a setting where they met and interacted. The reason for the live action is that it is a teaser. It's not necessarily going to use the Catherine engine.
