  • A video covering some modifications that we did to the front of the fenders to make the headlight trim fit better, align the hood better and fit the radiator better! Sometimes the path to the finish line is a little curvy :)

      I sure wish I was in the position to. Id damn sure work out a deal with him on the nicest shit just to have him do something with my square body. That way I could say he had something to do with the build. So much talent. I wish I had an 1/8 of the talent and knowledge.

      @@greasyryno2980 right. Hopefully our views likes and comments help get that shop a.c.. It sure would make projects like this pain in the a$$ ordeal easier. Im building a square ground up and didn't buy the top of the line panels not the worse neither. What a nightmare hanging aftermarket panels are. Feeling for the crew on this one. Never again will I go that route. I will spend the extra if ever do another build after this one.

    Great job documenting the effort it takes to get some of the "bolt on replacement" parts to actually work. I tell folks who ask that many of these parts will actually, "bolt on" but that is where it ends, and there is a heck of a lot more to making a part FIT than just bolting it on.
    It is never the name of the fender company on the finished product, it is yours...

    Aftermarket parts, Especially body parts have always been a ass ache on anything I've been working on. Even on the antique farm tractor we restored. Stuff never fit correctly, And the few $$$ you saved wasn't worth it in the end. If factory body panels where available, Thats what we tried to get. And all of the hours of fab and fitting just show how much pride you take in your work. Keep the content coming, I look forward to your videos. They always seem to teach me something.

    I’ve come across these problems before.
    Often just a few taps with a rubber hammer is all that’s need to bring things into line and drilling new holes.
    The hood is another matter.
    It is entirely possible that it is meant for a trim ring delete. The matching glass fenders may have the trim ring moulded in.

    I've been thru all that sheet metal stuff working on old mustangs, any of the sheet metal you buy NEVER fits like they say it's supposed too...
    It's got something to do with copyright infringement because nobody can reuse the actual stampings because of the huge cost involved to all the auto companies paying them royalties. So they make the stampings and call them direct replacements but we all know what's involved in them making them fit properly. They just don't makem like they used to.

    Have you ever considered leaning the radiator forward at the top? It may give you more options, and it creates front downforce. We do it on our super late model for the downforce alone.

    • @USARAY1947
      @USARAY1947 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe doing so would reduce air flow through the radiator.

    • @michaelpeace716
      @michaelpeace716 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@USARAY1947 it does create a bit more resistance because of the turn the air has to make to get through the radiator. But with proper ducting the air has no choice but to go through. The circle track cars have a duct that seals to the nose of the car and to the radiator. So any air that enters the grill is forced to go through the radiator. In two decades of asphalt short track racing we have never had a car that ran hot.
