    Thank you Jim… in Italy 🇮🇹 we no longer have that version but I got the newer release. Which is mostly bourbon but some 20% sherry. It is delicious in my opinion with more ripe fruit and some nice mild peat in the background. Thanks 🙏 take care. Ciao 👋 S

    Another grand review Jim. Like many others we love the 12yo, always try to keep at least one of them to hand. Totally agree on your comments on this 16yo expression ... took us half a bottle to really appreciate it. Another good KK dram. Nearly all gone now ☹️.

      Cheers guys. I can't remember on what I heard it or where I read it but, your comment on this whisky getting better as it went along, was one that stuck with me. After that, I heard the same thing from other folk within the community.
      Lovely stuff but, I still prefer the 12! And the 8yr bourbon matured and definately the Heavily Peated.
      Thank you as always 🙏

    Glad to hear your review of this one, Jim. I love the 12 and had a dram just two days back. It is a bottle I keep in the cabinet, but like many I have not been able to capture a bottle of the 16 (since I'm not going to chase it on the secondary market). I do love Campbelltown whiskies and accept that there just isn't enough to cover demand. That is okay.

      @WhiskeyNovice  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Bud. I would honestly go as far as to say that this wasn't worth the chase. As good as it is...there are plenty of great whiskys from all over Scotland that match this for quality. I try to avoid the chase but sometimes I get hooked in. It's an expensive learning curve.
      Thanks my friend.

    Hard to get kilkerran here and at a reasonable price and im not a bottle chaser,so that’s why I stay with the 12 which I can get, but hey, that’s life. Enjoyed your honest review Jim, say it the way it is. Nice one Jim, Slàinte

      Cheers David. In this case, it's maybe no bad thing to have choice taken out of the equation. The 12yr is as good a place to be as any.
      Slàinte mate.

    Excellent review, Jim. I'm such a KK fanboy that if I can ever get my hands on a 16 I won't be able to pass it up. With that said, the 12yo is a stellar whisky and readily available.

      Cheers man. Yeah Springbank and Kilkerran fit best into that "FOMO" bracket for me. I might not get my hands on every expression that comes out of their doors...but I'll still try. You can almost guarantee that they'll be good or great.

    Only had a 10 cL sample of this. Really loved it, reminded me of a cranked up 12 yo. Only reason I didn’t grab a bottle was because retailers here put it on the shelf at €100-€115. Hope when future batches become available, the prices will become more reasonable. Cheers Jim

    • @WhiskeyNovice
      @WhiskeyNovice  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers Menno. Yeah it would be great to see this more widely available. It's a shame more people don't get to try these expressions.
      I guess it'll never really change considering their output.
      Thanks buddy.

    I completely agree Jim, the 12 is absolute filth. I loved the 8's that I've had but I haven't had the 16. I really enjoyed the 'Pat Chat' and look forward to the future reviews. Personally I think you're content is as good as anything else online, cheers Jim!.

    Really appreciate the honest thoughts here. I am way behind on my Kilkerran, but currently hunting the 8s more than this. Especially for cost.

    • @WhiskeyNovice

      Cheers Jon. Yeah they're all getting hard to track down aren't they. And those secondary market prices are just silly.

    Thanks again, Jim, for your honest review. I've only ever had the KK12 and liked it. (I loved the Tobermory 12 too, btw!). I think, when it comes to Campbeltown, you're heart belongs to Glen Scotia. Looking forward to your Victoriana review. :)

    • @WhiskeyNovice
      @WhiskeyNovice  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh I'd say my heart firmly belongs to Springbank mate. I DO love Glen Scotia and Kilkerran but, it's to Springbank, and particularly the 10yr old that my heart will always return.
      Cheers Richard.

    Only recently finished my bottle of this. Really enjoyed it and found it quite moreish.
    I kept going back to it time a time again and finished it before my other Kilkarran's.
    Cheers Jim.

    Had to persist with the 16 to get to like it. Had to give it lots of time (2 hrs +) to relax, and it started to bloom..... a bit. Just as you did I gave it a few drops of water and let it settle and then it showed itself. I don't normally experiment with water as it's hit and miss whether I ruin it or not, but this one screamed out for some. There is no avoiding it. Its just one of those bottlings. As a result I have a great fondness now for KK16 as I had to slow things right down and work with it and think and get to know it. This is one for quiet moments with no distractions and needs your full attention as it will try you. Its definitely not for everyone but future expressions will surely be different. Now if only I could get another bottle..

    • @WhiskeyNovice
      @WhiskeyNovice  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😄😄 that's the hardest part! Getting a bottle.
      As I said to Menno...I wish more people could get the chance to experience these whiskys. It's great that we are within a community who are willing, able and generous enough to share samples but, I generally feel that you can't get to grips with a whisky based on a sample. Whiskys, like this KK for example, need lots of return visits in my opinion.
      Cheers buddy.
