My dad worked for the LIRR for 23 years back in in the 60's and 70's. He took me a number of times with him on the MA-8 run. Some of my happiest memories! Thanks for posting this!
What a shame even though these cars were damaged beyond repair it's still sad to see them go. I could even still see the advertisement posters inside some of the cars, so sad.
Just Cool To See LIRR Stuff. I Live in Chicago, And Deal with Several Railroads ( Canadian Pacific {now CPKC} The Most, but BNSF, Norfolk Southern, CSX, Canadian National, and Union Pacific)
The first few were damaged back in 2016 from when they hit a work train and one other hit the platform at Old Westbury and another one crashed into the bumper block at Atlantic Terminal
Wow that was hottttt!!!! In the background I saw a couple of NY/NJ rail engines. At the right times you can catch these engines moving freight cars doing some live street running in Brooklyn adjacent to the Brooklyn naval base. Big trains running right down the middle of the street in that area sharing the road and streets with cars, trucks and buses. It’s so cool to see. But timing is everything, you really have to get lucky to see it happening. I am pretty sure that it doesn’t run everyday. But if you can catch it, it is a BIG DEAL for rail fans.

Here are the ENTIRE accidents/incidents that occurred: 7033, 7034, and 7044 were the 3 cars that collided into a work train in 2016 7553 overshot the bumper in Atlantic Terminal 7425 hit a truck at a railroad crossing and eventually derailed into the Westbury platform 7054 was burned in a fire and was eventually scrapped with all of these cars. The new pairs from these collisions/accidents are below: 7043-7554 7053-7088 7087-7280 7279-7426
7044 collided with a work train in 2016. 7553 ran through the bumper at Atlantic Terminal in 2017 7425 was involved in a grade crossing collision in 2019 and was sliced open by the platform at Westbury.
@@dapperdonny4051 They did, but there's two issues with it; first, you can only take so many spares; second, there's a liability issue is a part from a wreck damaged unit is used in another unit, and causes an issue that results in injury.

thanks for this, that's a rare power move we don't normally see
Love that at 12:43 , that black tarp looking thing goes under the wheels and they both look up at the guy in the cab and he's like "whatever bruh"
Best part of the whole video. I think it's an umbrella
Wow I can’t believe the M7s are being retired now. Truly an end of an era 😢
The M7s are not being retired as a class, as described in the caption, these cars are being scrapped because of irreparable damage from an accident
I do dig the GP's (Jeeps) Moving That LIRR Stuff. Cool Video! Mucho Thanks!
They're MP15ACs

@@hankeisenstein272 Thank you for that!
Didn’t the LIRR use these trains for spare parts? I saw these M7s in Arch Street Yard where they have been sitting for a couple of years
That's 3 of the 6. Any idea where the other 3 came from?

Looks like some subways cars in the distance are awaiting the same fate.
Yup. Retired R32s in the distance.
The end of the line for these Bombardier M7s. They were wrecked and are gonna get scrapped. Save some of these EMUs for preservation LIRR. :(
Start the work.
