Funky Orch (2A03+VRC6+MMC5+N163+FDS+VRC7+5B)
/ funky-orch-2a03-vrc6-m...
It's one of massive original song that uses the whole expansion chips.
The oscilloscopes made by nyanpasu64's Corrscope
This sounds outstanding! The oscilloscope view is a very impressive visualizer for this!
Is there an FTM file available for this? I would love to study how this was made!
I have learned a lot by going through some of FearOfDark's trackers, but the FM synthesis stuff just blows my mind. Thanks!
Oh, hi there, sorry, I just see this comment now. The module is available on famitracker's former forum here famitracker.com/forum/posts.php?id=5233&pid=65034, however, the dropbox file went gone. Fortunately, wayback machine had preserved it, here you go: web.archive.org/web/20150512074959/dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26488194/funky%20orch.txt -- Import the file as text in your famitracker.
@@kouzerumatsu8152 i tried doing that and it simply goes kaput with a C0000005 error code

You can use Dn-Famitracker
@@kouzerumatsu8152 that's assuming that one json error means nothing

Yes!

This is practically the anthem of the NES.
it's like one of my only decent songs from those days. and it looks really cool on the oscilloscope view! cool stereo too.
This has some serious Thunderforce 4 energy.
@@YourIdeologyIsDelusionalI can feel that energy, too.
Also, your channel description is based.
giga stereo bass
what dark magic did you use to get noise out of the 5B?
@@DomiDave Sunsoft 5B is basically just a YM2149 running at half-speed. The YM2149 supports 2 base waveforms which is square and noise, so, you can natively get noise in 5B.
Normies: The NES only has 4 channels!
These guys: LIKE HELL IT DOES
nes has 5 channels
@@tl1882 Does not Include Delta PCM.
Um, ackchually, the NES does only have four channels (plus DPCM), it's the Famicon that can have more 😤
@Cyrix @@klop4228 ackchually, DPCM *is* a channel so 5, also Famicom (not n)
@@High_Quality_Nintendo_OSTs actually it depends how you translate famicom, it can also be famicon
Someone made and then deleted a beautiful Mozart cover using this method and I was sad. Now I have some famichoir to fill that tiny hole. Totally adding this to my playlist of great famitracker things
Imagine playing this on real hardware, that poor cpu having to interface with all those chips at the same time
Good luck developing a mapper to handle all those expansions
imagine having to design a cartridge that doesnt make the console top heavy when inserted
Keep custom old technology on modern technology.
omw to the store to buy a foot tall famicom cartridge with 6 expansion chips in it
"So, which expansion sound chip for the Famicom did you use for your composition?" "Yes." "What do you mean 'Yes'? ...OH!"
All joking aside, this is a fantastic track! Splendid work, indeed!
Now this is a badass use of all 7 channels
Двумя словами- великий хор старых аудиочипов.
That's nine words.
that is a lot wow...
Hahaha, yep, I became obsessed to this song and I love using it as test song for my MicoTracker
Imagine surpassing all companies and somehow the cartridge limitations and adding all of these chips into a single famicom cartridge
That's an entire computer right there.
this is the best chiptune song i have ever heard in my life
to be fair, no console that made use of these chips could have ever played this song, but its the thought that counts
So creative to use the FDS as slap bass.
So, out of all of the channels, there's:
The original 2A03 (Square 1, Square 2, Triangle, Noise, and PCM)
Famicom Disk System (Programmable wavetable)
MMC5 (Pulse 1, Pulse 2, 2nd PCM)
VRC6 (Pulse 3, Pulse 4, Sawtooth)
VRC7 (Full 6-channel FM Synth set, similar to the Genesis)
Namco 163 (8 more Wavetable channels, variable sample length)
Sunsoft 5B (Square 3, Square 4, Noise) (Fun fact: This was only ever used in one NES game, and said game never used the noise channel, only the squares)
Out of these, both PCM channels and the 5B's first square channel are never used.
HOL'UP THERES PCM IN MMC5?
Funfact: "Gimmick" is the Only Game that has the 5B Audio Chip.
The 5B doesn't have a noise channel. They _somehow_ got noise out of the pulse waves
@@DomiDave The 5B Has an Accesible Noise Mode Or Pulse Mode, In Gimmick they were just using it like in Pulse Mode, Its Similar to AY/YM2149F Chip
@@xVGAmusicPlayerz huh I always thought it was like an SN7 without the noise channel
@@xVGAmusicPlayerzFun fact: The Sunsoft 5B essentially contains a YM2149F clone
man used every expansion ever
Except for the EPSM, which is just a VRC7 but with drum set samples.
@@imenkessabi76EPSM is absolutely not comparable to VRC7
It has -1 waveform
More operators, higher volume depth for its operators, better adsr, ssg-eg, CSM
Different Feedback
Features such as sustain and eg-s doesn't exist due to being no longer useful thanks to new adsr
Oh.
I like how this track features sawtooths on PSG, wavetable, and FM. Really just missing the 5B volume envelope version.
this is going in the playlist
God this is so cool! It sounds like an unused VVVVVV track!
This gives me vibes of Stage 3A from Thunder Force IV (and Omake 8 and 9 to an extent).
we need more chips.
I do wish you Famitracker people would take a few hints from the demosceners and have visuals to go with yourt audio!
Although to be fair, the oscilloscopes do carry a bit of a demoscene vibe, if not at least because of the oscilloscopes actually seen in tracker software.
This is INSANE!
Added to the collection of "songs that make me wish chiptune was performed live so I could hear it on a collection of synths and maybe keytars"
God, the key changes and EVERYTHINGG I nneed it
28 voices. This is too much power for one track to wield.
In a NESessity with an Everdrive N8, it can be played in real hardware.

*never used, also 5B1 is also not used
I never knew that that the FDS was locked to one wave table. I thought you could change it like the N163 waves.
Well, yeah, sorry, no. Indeed FDS cannot change the waves because of the hardware limitations. In order to write values to the wave table, it has to be turned off first. Therefore it was nonsense to make it able to change waves on the fly, otherwise there would be a lot of pops
Really? I've seen dozens of FDS games use on the fly wave swapping for its WSG, and it's never been an issue.
@@kouzerumatsu8152I didn't know about that, funnily enough the virtual boy suffers from the same problem
