He's a test match guy, doesnt chase the T20 cash, nor does he have a face for endorsements. Test match payments are lucrative but not compared to his overall contract. It is also not an injury that can carry on for life. Calf injuries are notorious as we get closer to retirement age, especially football where its often called "old man's calf"...they do take longer than expected to heal most of the time but the only thing on his horizon is the World Cup in 4 months time. I'm guessing he's getting good advice and weighed it all up. I do see what u mean though....but when playing for your country there's nothing wrong with a bit of sacrifice and sucking up some pain. We would all kill for the chance....he probably would also....every day is special to them

The issue for England is simple, Australia only need two wickets and do not need to win, a draw is fine given Australia are in front in the series, I expect Australia will go hard for wickets for an hour, if they get one they will keep going, if they get two they are likely winners, if they do not get a wicket in the first hour they could go to England's bumper plan and make it impossible to score without huge risk and that can take the game away from England or force them to swing wild.

That decision on the Starc catch is a problem for test cricket. Everyone knows that he caught it cleanly its just an adjudication that in the process of steadying his body the ball made contact with the ground, although it remained in his control. The rule doesnt seem to be applied consistently, as quite often similar catches are allowed. The ICC should intervene and from this point define the rule to be that its not out if the grounding occurs when the catch is being made/fumbled. The fielder should be rewarded in this instance.
The law is perfectly clear. He was not in complete control of his own movement when he grounded the ball. It was NOT a valid catch. It really could hardly be clearer.

Nathan Lyon isn't a white ball bowler. He doesn't have enough variations. Hence why he hasn't played an international ODI or T20i in years.
