- Hosted by Don Ritchie, this food trivia quiz combines elements of $ale of the Century, Wheel of Fortune, Supermarket Sweep and Final Jeopardy! all rolled into one. Sponsored by Mr. Grocer.
Just remember, this IS a Canadian show, so the 15-point questions in the first round are only worth 11.70 points US, and when you knock over a food item in the shopping spree, there's technically no time peanalty, but you ARE expected to apologize to it.
It’s Supermarket Sweep for Loonies!
I didn't know that people in London as well as Hershey (chocolate city) serves Chocolate drinks (milk, hot chocolate, etc)! Interesting
I remember watching this show at my grandparents house.
I was on this game show that aired in Toronto and I believe it was 1991. We did not get a Taped version for ourselves and so I was wondering if you or anyone else had any or all the episodes of the show. I would love to show my grandson children when Babawas on TV
Same buzzer sound as Bumper Stumpers
Does anybody know what production companies "Food for Thought" was produced by? I discovered that the copyright card and production logos were cut off at the end of the video.
Hello from the USA, where I got to see Jackpot and Bumper Stumpers on the USA Network. I recognize the bell from both shows, the scoreboard numbers from Jackpot, the buzz-in sound from Bumper, and the font for on-screen graphics from Bumper. Hope that points you to the right answer.
@@sidkrantz9533 So “Food for Thought” was a Global Television Network production.
@@jerrywright4886 I can’t give a 100% yes - but it’s likely this originally aired on Global. Gerry Wilkinson’s name and a few others leaped out in the closing credits.
Also, the contestants are sloppy shoppers! 😣 On American “Supermarket Sweep”, they would be penalized for leaving “merchandise” on the floor.
I was on show and won! Won Trip no spending money .
do you have that episode in which you were the winner
Meh , I'll just stick with SuperMarket Sweep
My first thought upon seeing this was that it wasn't familiar at all. After watching the first couple of minutes, though, it seemed vaguely familiar.
So none of the game before the shopping spree mattered.
I appreciate you posting this! The mechanics of the game are a bit wonky, though.
@Steve Marshall do you have a tape of this show in which you were the winner
What are the rules
RULES
Looking at the Mr. Grocer logo makes me think Dr. Bunsen Honeydew lost his glasses and grew a moustache.
Strange show. More Musiquest please.
NEED THE RULES AND ANNOUNCER
$5,000 Win!!!
WRONG!
I can't imagine anyone ever won the $5,000. Very difficult to win
@@marcpower4167 More difficult than winning said prize on Save to Win 27 years later?
@@andrewschroy6368 save to win may have been a smidge easier......I'm not a mathematician I cant calculate it.
Sound effects sound like Bumper Stumpers
And 1980's "Jackpot".
