Man it's a damn crime we don't have more stuff in the Riddick universe. comics, more movies, etc. Better than Star Wars imo.
I feel like dark sci Fi stuff isn't explored enough... They need to pump out some more stuff while Vin Diesel is still young!

A fourth movie called Furya, after their planet, is coming. Script was finished in 2019 by twohy.
This happily fleshes out some of the movie that felt a bit lacking... once a Riddick fan, always a Riddick fan.
Vind Diesel stated that another Riddick movie took so long to make because he didn't want it PG. The production studio wanted to make more but it wasn't dark enough and Vin Diesel fought them until Rule the Dark was made. So yeah, I guess you can say he "milked" that fast and furious "cow" but I think he stayed true to the Riddick franchise and that's why he waited for this movie.

Vin IS Riddick. And he really has shiny eyes, he just wears colored lens to camouflage it and protect his eyes from daylight. To pretend he´s an actor in the alternative (aka ours) ´verse is the smartest of all his hidings. I genuinely expect some merc from his usual ´verse to land on the Earth soon and start to hunt him. :D
He is the perfect guy for this role. But i feel in the last major movie that came out a while ago he seemed a little wilted. As if, he was almost tired of playing the character. But, perhaps, maybe that's what the type of personality they were going for.
I agree with your co!ment but just wish they would make another block buster like The Chronicles of Riddick, that film was the bomb

"Riddick" the most recent movie was good, except for that long chunk of dialogue in the interrogation scene. I just didn't see Riddick saying all that, I quote, "too many words". He usually doesn't explain himself or give the whole plan to others, though maybe that's what he meant by getting too civilized. I hope Furia comes out soon, and that they stay true to character.
Vin Diesel really was born too early. I could absolutely see Riddick as a helluva Netflix series, but now my man's getting up there in age and I gear it may be too late

they can't go forward because they gave riddick too much power as the lord marshall, riddick thrives when the odds are against him, hence the switch to pitch black setting. it's perfect if you ask me!

This year has seen a lot of big budget sci-fi & fantasy blockbusters & franchises, Superman, Iron Man, Wolverine, After Earth, Oblivion, Pacific Rim, Elysium, but the one movie I´ve been always looking forward to is still to come, and it´s gonna be awesome.

It's not just that- the studio execs have to approve it, they have to find backers for these projects etc. Vin Diesel has actually been one of the biggest supporters of the Riddick Saga- He made a cameo in Tokyo drift in order to get the rights for it and without his support there's no way the newest installment would have been added. The guy's a classic nerd. Sadly, this series would work much better as a niche audience T.V show and the making it as a blockbuster movie has killed it.
Wished they would've done an animated feature, like they did for Chronicles Of Riddick... I still watch that animated short.
Diesel and Twohy ( he writes all those badass lines, folks, not to mention the stories ) are the best match since Estaire and Rogers, Abbott and Costello, and way better than Tim Burton / Johnny Depp.
PLEASE keep them coming.

Man, they will continue the history. The new Riddick is not a remake of Pitch Black, it is what happened after the events of this video. He was left on a savage planet by the necromongers.

universal also didn't want to do another riddick movie because the last one was a flop so vin got the rights to riddick for making that appearance in ff3 he has always wanted to do more of riddick
Nathan Erickson It was funny when I went to watch Riddick in Theaters, there were tons of Parents with their Kids there and then those Nude Scenes come up....pretty funny how uncomfortable parents must’ve felt.
Going to see this opening night. Only movie I have ever done that for. Tells you how much I love it.
It's a lead-in to the movie; pretty much, Riddick doesn't really care for the job, and Vakko wants it. Vakko agrees to stop trying to assassinate Riddick if Riddick leaves; at least, that's what's implied.
yep if this third film does well and if the 4th movie gets greenlit with a higher budget they will go back the the chronicles storyline and base some of the film in Underverse.

It is year 2019... and I am still waiting for a new Riddick movie...I have given up all the hope... I am afraid it is the end.
vin Diesel posted on social media in the summer that the script by David Twohy for the 4th film is ready. I just hope that it's more like "Chronicles" and less like the 3rd one and we get to go to the Underverse and it has Karl Urban and a ghost of Radha Mitchell from the 1st movie there. Wouldn't that be a great callback?

he was able to do four riddick films, three live action, one animated an do two riddick games.
Because mass fan base loved pitch black, hated chronicles of and wanted a new pitch black style one. The direction they took the movie is the exact one they kept getting told people wanted. I loved both, and I dont mind which way it goes, but I would love it to carry on from here.
It wasn't ENTIRELY his choice. The studio didn't think Chronicles performed well, so they canned the franchise. Diesel had to leverage to obtain the rights for Riddick, and then he had to find the personal funders for it. He would have made the movie a few years ago if he could.
Because David Twohy himself stated that a limited budget has forced them to take an unexpected detour in the story. The "Chronicles" bombed on a financial scale, so hopefully a higher grossing from "Riddick" will allow them to continue the storyline accordingly in the future. That is, if Diesel is up to it.
i agree, and Riddick movies were always great, and games too, so i will give money for this even though i always download.
But i disagree about big screen, for me when i watch good movies, i want to watch it at home, because at cinema, i mean one smoke, other talks, the third laughs for no reason, and forth do something else that annoys me, and all that ruins the atmosphere. :P

Dark Fury is already on DVD. It has it's own and it is also part of a three in one that includes the other two Riddick movies
They are. Riddick is the first of at least two more movies, as he is on his way back to Furya. This just shows the character building as he is "trying to get back to the animal side".
He gotta go back to that planet, and find that demon inside. That's is what is happening in that new movie.

If he didn't make the cameo appearance in FF2 there wouldn't be a new Riddick movie. His fee for making the cameo was for the rights to Riddick which Universal had pretty muck locked away after the second movie failed to make a profit.

They took a great financial risk to make the 3rd Riddick movie. Vin Diesel even had to leverage his house to fund it. If the movie is not successful, he´ll have to give his house away.
So I´ll be damned if I watch it online! I want to honor Diesel´s risks & efforts. I´ll watch it at the cinema & make my contribution to its good box office. And if it´s very successful, maybe they´ll produce a 4th, even a 5th movie.
Besides, such a movie is much cooler & much more impressive on the big screen.

That's why you wait it out. You go watch it during the last week of screening, when it's empty and quiet ;) I'm definitely watching this on the big screen

Sure: So after Riddick became Lord-Marshal he had to take some Oath. He was not keen that so he seemed to postpone or delay it somehow... Thous creating speculations among the necromongers (some thought he was a curse) that let to assassination attempts. Also it seems that Riddick has been Lord-Marshal for some time since he says that he has become 'civilized'. Hope that helped some bit.

This is a scene from the upcoming riddick movie that has been made into a 5 minute cartoon. They made it because every single person who watched the trailer whined and complained about it being either a prequel, or remake of pitch black.

the last lines were pretty much a jab at Chronicles. Twohy and Diesel want to go back because they lost themselves a bit with the last movie. there ended up being too many producers having too much to say about what went in the movie. it became a big, over-the-top, yet run-of-the-mill summer sci-fi movie. it "got civilized". time to find that animal side again by stripping it back down to what the original was about. but that doesn't mean that it's going to be a copy of what the first one was.
Yer the 2nd one was a bit of a shamble, but aye its hard to live up to something amazing.

I really like these motion comics hopefully the move will not be a disappointment as the second one - something about it just didn't fit the Riddick concept. I guess there were too many Hollywood executives in its making.
