    Brian, those machine were built to last another 200 years-all they need are a master’s hands to make them come alive.

    There is a Zen to this kind of handwork, hyper-concentration and the linear (or sometimes, not-so-linear) flow of the workflow and a romantic affinity for the history of the profession and the tools of the trade. Hats off to you, Brian.

    I am an ex-pat Brit living in Bangkok, there is nothing even close to what you do here in Thailand. I recall as a young lad in my home city in Bath, England, a small cobbler on the street corner, sadly he was the last. Brian, i can only see an amazing future for you. Your quality of workmanship and love for your trade will elevate you. People from far and wide will know your name. I am honoured to see this begining for you.The best of luck brother, you deserve it.

    Thanks for the tour Brian. The sights, the sounds and, all though it doesn’t come across well on TH-cam, the smells; that’s what craftsmanship is all about. Keep on rocking it.
    Now, please emboss a little scrap rectangular piece of leather with the RC logo and make a key chain. I’ll order one if you ship to Canada...

    I really like the way things are near and dear to your heart. You have big respect for the people and the Machines as well as your hard work and theirs. I love those Engineers boots. I've never seen anything like that before and would love to own a pair but I'm sure I can't afford to have them custom-made, so I'll look around and see if I can buy a pair.

  • @TheEphemeris
    @TheEphemeris 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I madly respect a man who takes pride in his work. A man who can talk for ages about his trade because it's truly what he enjoys. I loved your excitement for sharing your workshop with us. But I personally felt equally as excited with you Brian for the beautiful machines. The tactile feel they give, the living sounds they make. Your resole videos are always therapeutic, but this video is probably my favorite because it's so relaitable. Thank you mate for making such brilliant quality videos.

    Walmart has killed so many great craftman's jobs. We do appreciate handmade things. Thanks.

    • @Tr33People
      @Tr33People 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Not Walmart but capitalism. People now buy more stuff but cheaper. Capitalism promotes consumption not durability.

    • @CarlosRamirez-wt4yi
      @CarlosRamirez-wt4yi 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tr33People I was referring to the Walmart that displaced the cobbler where he got his machine.

    • @Drownedinblood
      @Drownedinblood 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tr33PeopleThis is true. Capitalism favors constant consumption. People nowadays are conditioned to the mindset of disposing of an item instead of repair too. People complain about them not making them like they used to as if it's because manufacturing itself has somehow gone down in quality when in reality manufacturing methods are more precise than they have ever been. Everything is just made more cheaply by design and with an expected failure or obsolescence in mind within a time frame consumers feel comfortable with.

    • @Tr33People
      @Tr33People 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CarlosRamirez-wt4yi That's what I mean, it wasn't Walmart but consumers who don't want to fix things. Just buy new cheap stuff that falls apart.

    • @CarlosRamirez-wt4yi
      @CarlosRamirez-wt4yi 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tr33Peopleyeah, I don't get how someone can be brainwashed into not wanting a quality item that lasts time over inexpensive cheap stuff that will disappoint.

I’m a real fan of steam powered vehicles and machines so I understand how you feel about those great tools ⚒. Keep sharing, I’ll keep watching. 🌞

    Brian, the machine you bought on Craigslist that cuts, skives and presses the welting is called a 5 in 1 because it performs 5 functions, you see them without the welt roller and they are called 3 in 1s. The old chainstitch machine you use for sewing the backs is a fur sewing machine.
    Oh, Liberty Bibbs are by far the best bibbs to wear.
