Unless someone enjoys grinding games and having to look stuff up even more, I'm not sure I'd recommend making an Ironman to a brand-new player. You can still be self-sufficient on a normal account, without being forced to get absolutely everything yourself if you don't want to. This game is already massively overwhelming for new players on regular accounts.
Agree. I don't recommend the ironman gamemode even to veterans. There's legitimately so many other ways to change up how the game is played.
I'd say just do what 9rain is doing in osrs with his ironmain. Get the collection log slot before you buy the item.
Really depends on the person though.. If you get a good amount of dopamine by doing it all yourself then Id recommend it. But it's deffo not for everyone.
@@Tainted-Phantom I still wouldn't recommend an ironman. You can easily choose to do everything yourself on a main as well, but if you ever change your mind you can easily start playing like most mains.
To me the ironman game mode is completely pointless; it only removes mechanics that you could simply choose to not use as a main, it adds literally nothing. It only exists for those who have zero self control or those who mistakenly think it's a flex of some sort when really it isn't lol.

As someone that quit in 2015 with a maxed account [1 month after Priff released], came back during FSW with a new account and helping my girlfriend play for the first time - here are some things I've learned again in in the few months I've been playing.
1. The economy - It is completely out of wack and near impossible for a new player to get BiS within a month or so of playing. Focus on better weapons first, then work towards getting the good armor.
2. Abilities - Overwhelming amount of wealth poured into different Codex's for new abilities, that I don't really know if I'll need or not. Still trying to figure these out.
3. Skills vs PVM - Work on your skills first, make some gold & get some decent armor. Start small with PVM, don't jump into the big bosses right away. Learn the mechanics of your abilities and the bosses.
4. Quest - Complete these right away, as they will give your account a path. You'll level up skills to a good base, unlock new lands and other cool things.
5. Mini-Games & DNDs - Do these, they unlock good rewards such as skilling outfits.
6. Ed3 or The Shadow Reef - Cheese way of training your combat skills at an insane rate with a group. You can get 99s in a few days, maybe less.
7. Different methods - Tons of cool skilling methods, do them and don't worry about where you'll get the best experience all the time. Do what you enjoy.
8. MTX - It isn't as bad as people said it was, and doesn't really bother me too much, and shouldn't bother you.
9. Community - From what I've experienced so far, the community also isn't as bad as other people think it is, and yes most will interact with you if you are friendly.
I missed out alot, but this game is massive and is only growing.

there is just too many ways to do something so there are very very inefficient ways to play and the problem with that is that the rest of the commmunity is so far ahead you will be alone
I just wish they'd give us members free every now and then , I can't get back into the game cuz I don't have cash for members it's like everytime I wanna play I remember I'm f2p again or I forget to buy a bond and now I got all these member items for nothing can't even sell it for members it's gay

As F2P you can sell members items to the GE.

if you have Protean skilling or normal items for other skilling skills, train in Menaphos to also gain xp for the area as well as the skill. I've used this for a long time, Menaphos area requires xp to unlock the VIP skilling area, etc. But requires a quest to get in the area.

As a returning player I imagine that archeology can be a bit complex (it was for me atlest) as it isn't a straightforward skill like woodcutting. You get more artifacts then you can repair with the materials you get and it is not straightforward what to do with it. I am a player that doens't like to throw mountains of cash at a skill so I want to give one tip that would have helped me from the start:
Focus on completing collections, do all the collections atleast ones, and then pick one to repeat if you need more exp.
The chrononotes you get from completing collections are worth more then the materials required to make the items so it's fine to buy the materials to complete the items.
Alternatively a lot of the (lower level) artifacts can be disassembled for ancient components for some profit or net zero.
Anyway, repair a lot of your artifacts from the start, don't let them sit unrepaired in your bank. You will need to have repaired 1000 to get guildmaster qualifications.

Just came back a couple weeks ago after years away. I was completely confused before i left, and i started a new account so i could fix what i did wrong.
Tips: don't start a lot of quests at once. It gets incredibly confusing.
Organize your bank tabs.
Start cooking early. It's a necessary skill.
Make notes. I keep a notebook just to keep track of things that i'm doing that i'll forget. Like, i know i need mithril grappling hooks for agility, but i'll forget. Or quest notes.
Also, put the genie lamps or xp that you can decide where it goes on skills you don't enjoy working. I hate construction, but I want the bonuses, so I put them in there
I came back to do Fort Forinthry using the one week free membership from Prime. My membership expired yesterday, and I was more relieved than sad. I'll probably come back when the new skill is released.
I still watch videos from some of the great content creators tho 😊
@Tyler Banns I started in 2003, and it's definitely a different game now.
I did so much pvm for a eldritch and bought it at 3.6 bill got burnt out shortly after and didn't play for a year, just came back this month and lost over 2 bill so that was dope.
@Tyler Banns Never leave armour in your bank. It always goes down as more people get it lol. Quit rs3 in 2010. Played oldschool for a while but it got boring/tryhardish and don't like how the community votes
Eldrich never went above 2.1 bil haha not sure where you're getting those figures from but you can look up the history of the item right now, it peaked in Jan 2021.
And all due respect but this is true in every aspect of life even, products only devalue over time as new things come out and it's especially true in runescape, why would you leave the best armour in your bank before quitting :(

I'm not even kidding, I take somewhat frequent breaks, and what I do when I come back is watch a handful of your vids to catch back up lol, first patch notes vids and then any videos relating to new content, works like a charm for me, but then my breaks are usually only a few weeks at a time lol

i have an account from waay before EoC and i've been dabbling with the idea of attempting to get back into it, but tbh i have no idea where to start with what i've had done before, so im honestly leaning towards making a new account entirely and following one of those efficiency guides. As much as i'd prefer to use the account i have, i just have no real idea on where to focus, i've just mainly been f2p just smithing and hoarding bonds
I got back into it like a year ago and stood at the same spot you stand in now.
I use my good ol' account, because I couldn't be bothered to start anew again, do hundreds of quests and re-grind the skills to the levels I had.
I started playing in Legacy Mode at first, so the overworked Combat wouldn't overwhelm me, and kind of just started there. I did quests, I trained skills, I started using revolution. Now, all of a sudden, I've got several 99s more and almost got back the good old quest Cape I haven't worn in ten years. 😅
There's tons of new stuff, but at the core, it is still, in fact, the RuneScape you know. You'll get into it, I promise. :) Also: use the wiki!

so many words and i understand none of it.
something that i realized is that i've already played for years so at this point what's the rush. I make sure i rotate my activities so i don't lose interest but honestly we're all pretty much here for the long haul. Also i take breaks when i finally hit a big drop with pvm, because deep down i know my runescape experience just climaxed for the next month.
Same here I switch up every couple hours when i do play just because. I used to go for max xp on osrs but now on 3 I'm being chill and having fun

great video!!! thank you! im returning after 12 years. love being back. i enjoy playing iron man style, but not in the offical way. lol im trying to start runecrafting to make get my mge lvl up. there is so much to take in for just runecrafting. idk where to start. like rune essence vs pure essence. the pouches, best locations. but with that said. i love being back!
I would only recommend new players playing an ironman account if they understand it is a lot more tedious and makes PvM content much less accessible later on. It seems to get romanticized as "the true RuneScape experience" by veteran players who have already done everything in the game. In contrast, It'll just feel limiting and tedious to many new players who just want to do cool stuff instead of skilling for hundreds of hours.
Especially since everyone is already going to want to skill to 99 anyway and forcing them to hit 60 mining/smithing in order to use good equipment for combat means they cant do combat as easily unless they also grind for hours first and early game going from iron to rune is such a easy jump from a attack/strength pov but it takes literally forever to get mining and smithing to 60 so youll be able to use the equipment wayyyy before you actually have it in your hands. If you dont play ironman mode you can just go to the Grand exchange or even just ask someone and get full rune gear (or range/magic equivalent) and now you can go do pvm faster, skilling can be very tedious standing mining or chopping or smelting. Not knocking ironman but its definitely not for actually "new to runescape" players unless they want a very grindy experience (they probably dont)
Ironman accounts are for people who have maxed mains and want to cuck themselves on a replay.
@@davide4725 It's for people who want to play the game as more of an RPG as opposed to a moneymaking simulator. Accomplishing things on an iron is way more satisfying than on a main where you can just buy everything you need off the GE. I still don't think new players should start as an ironman though.
I train all skills together. Do I want 80 Fletching? Maybe, then I will get each and every skill to 80. Then I move on to 90. No issues.
This all made a lot of sense for a returning player that has 90+ on everything. Thank you. I subbed.

I have just decided to return after almost 10 years, and I am about to purchase the membership and all. I don't know where to start though lol, I should probably learn the mechanics of new fighting and level up the new skills that came out in the meantime. My bank is full of stuff that I need to relearn what it is used for, how to teleport to places quickly, catch up on 150ish new quests so that I can wear my questcape again, etc.
big tip ironman can pvm with mains now so if you got a main with big bank you can leech off it to get ez equips for your ironman
Just curious why you dont use the warband runegoldberg tracker for your vis wax run? it tells you what the primary rune is and the 3 possible secondary runes, this saves you alot of time / money in getting the best possible vis wax rates

I tried rs3 years ago. Got addicted to spending money so I quit. I tried iron man 3 days ago but I do miss using the grand exchange like I did in the old RuneScape ( which I started playing 20 or so years ago, seen allot of things change over the years of playing)
I’m now gonna make a new character and only use the keys I get for my membership while still being able to trade with players. I honestly don’t care if other players know I’ve worked for my capes or if I leveled with money, as long as I know what I’ve done to earn them then it’s fine.
Ironman is not for me. I want the ability to sell and buy things
My current goal is to do all quests that doesn't require bossing (will do those at some point). Note that I have hardly done any quests at all. I'm only going slightly insane :P
My partner and I just came back to RS3 we are doing Pseudo Ironman where we can sell stuff on GE but not buy and so we can do stuff like Social slayer together.
I quit like 15 years ago, and the holidays made me want to come back only to discover my account had been hacked and emptied out, i went trough the painful recovery process of making my account secure again. but i find myself not knowing what to do now. What tips would you give me. I'm lvl 125 with a few 99 skills but being "naked" feels overwhelming and idk where to start

Coming back from like a 10 year break I have no idea where to start I feel like there is way too much going on on my screen
Finding a clan is huge. There's no way I would have kept playing if I didn't join my current clan. There's no way I would have maxed, comped, got the mqc, killed nex, zamorak, kerapac, anything. My little group of like 10-15 nerds really kept me going.
Just recovered my account after 2 years off. Username got reset, and not seeing the stats in hiscore. Can log in tomorrow b4 work. Hope the stats and bank are still there because i had all skills 99+ , invention 120 and magic 110+

It is the magic ability Surge :) can be used without a weapon to just give extra mobility!

Beginner players literally just need to goto a RuneScape class from a veteran for a year to fully understand the type of game runescape is and for them to decide what play style they'd like to play since there so many angles to start with until you get near end game in all skills, osrs is a good game to learn to start rs3 players with because there isn't the layers of updates,papers,oddments,minigames,layers of buffs and items etc,.
I think a good solution would be like an in built wiki rather than new players alt tabbing if on one monitor
what's good with high arching? returning player who went to high alch a rune med helm and got 100 coins
high alching is more when you are camping a boss or a slayer task and they drop a lot of items like rune salvages, those will high alch for G.E prices and instead of those items clogging your inventory you can just high alch as you go along and so will need less trips to the bank
explore timegated content like anachronia sooner rather than later

@@kingkilamttv it's been 10 years the nostalgia is over I said look at the numbers, more play osrs, rs3 doesn't respect your time they've devalued you by making everything easy with p2w exp, that's a lack of respect things that are harder to obtain are more valued, jagex have destroyed rs3 and they know.

literally the only thing i ever see about this fucking game is a trade screen, do you use those weapons or is this just sims with pvp?
My best tips and tricks for Rs3 is: Stay at the GE and open your key/keys everyday and you'll max pretty fast 😂.
