Hi Nick, Great video and review of the Foxeer Aura35. I don't mind flying 3.5in quads, and the Aura is definitely built tough. It is definitely a pricey little quad. But what isn't these days. But I would like to build one. Thanks again for the video and information about the Foxeer Aura35
This is exciting for me i love 3.5in..glad to see another one on the market. Hopefully this will push prop manufacturers to make us some more 3.5in props!!!!great review Nick as always!
How many more 3.5" props you want? Gemfan has 3520 and 3525. HQ 3x2x3 and 3x2.5x3. Emax 3528 and 3630. Not to mention the cinewoop props about an other 8 to choose from. 3.5 inch is here 😆
@@chrisbee5481 mate there is more to it than just having a few options, every prop manufacturer makes them differently, different tapers, pitch, how much they bend, 2 blade as well as 3, multi bladed props for ciniwhoops are hideous on an open quad so that’s a non starter, I’m fortunate that Low pitch soft tri blade props are available as that’s my preference but I’d love to have the options that there is for 5” as would most 👍 ✌🏼🤝

A stubby would be wiser especially as it's digital. Good video Nick! Very well done as always Totally agree I'm more of an explorer with the odd bit of freestyle. But also like to get down low in and out and around similar to your style
It’s crazy they made it like that - I built a 5” with the Aura lite and although I’ve replaced an arm 3 times ( they’ll snap off if they glance ANYTHING 😅 ) it’s an awesome frame and my flight times are brilliant 👍
I like the blue color. Nice little quad, looks very sharp. 3 inch not toothpick quads are a new branch I'm looking at with a few ready for nicer weather hanging on the wall. First thing I thought was those are really big motors, at the same time as, those props look trashed, he must have had a blast putting those there. Thanks for the video, this might be a pick up after the HDZero goggles arive. Enjoy the weekend! Cheers!
So - it would seem as though you did not get any extras in the box.. cause you mentioned it a bunch of times! but to tell you the truth I personally really look forward to those extras so if they were not in my box I would also be bummed. But my box would be a retail purchase. Anyway thanks for the review, seems like a nice drone, looked like it flew just fine despite the fact that you found the tune to be very "basic". I like this brand but this one is not grabbing me as much, not sure why however I will mention that I did buy a Foxwhoop 25 and I really like everything about that quad so far although I have yet to fly it due to work and weather... just no time as I often work 6 days a week and 12 hr days are not uncommon... yea I know cry cry cry! Thanks for the great review.
Kind of hilarious how they didn't include anything for you. Those are giant motors for a 3.5"...but it didn't seem too terrible minus the mangled props. That GP mount is way heavier than it needs to be. Most would just use a couch or something.
Yes, its pretty rare, I kind of wonder if this maybe was sent before it was ready, then I didn't hardly get to fly it for the first two weeks due to weather, could have waited for sure.
I was really surprised to see how chunky this thing turned out to be. not just a couple grams over 250. given that all I saw at first was an AIO and nothing much to it at first glance, but seeing the bottom plate I see where the weight is. Im in the home stretch building a Demibot 5in frame at the moment and I see some general similarities in construction, minus the 6mm arms et al. I keep a home built Rekon 35 in my truck for the slow cruisey flights. basically a recon vehicle that uses2s LiIons so I can keep a pack charged. Even with the heavy batteries, I am at 248g with no action camera. But trust me. it DOESNT crash well, and replacing an arm means tearing it apart and replacing the upper half of the frame.
Who would go for the 3.5" version? The 4" is the way to go. Unfortunatly it is not with 5mm motor shafts and nut screw for the prop. The prop choice is limited for 4" on M2 prop mount. Sub250 3.5" or ~330g 4" all the way
I got the 6S O3 version of this 1. Quad is well-built and can punch hard. 2. Out of the box experience was disappointing: I got the quad, a bag of 4 props with inserts but no mounting screws for those props to be found (glad I had some M2x7 laying around)...that's it (I did get the camera mount and screw). 3. I desoldered the XT60 and now have it coming out the space in the back between the top plate and antenna TPU mount. 4. I found the props to be pretty noisy so I replaced them with some Emax Scimitar props that sound way better and perform well. 5. I've played with the tune a bit as it wiggles a bit on sharp manuevers. 6. O3 is hard mounted so you can get some tiny vibrations but not terrible.
Good detailed real world experience there. Thank you for your feedback. However makes the emax props seems to have it pretty well down. Although I would like to see there smaller props drop some weight
those motors seem huge for the prop size.... some 1506-1607 3500-4600kv and should be much closer to my preference. but tbh... 3.5" is screaming for an o3 with no action cam... or analog and try to carry a gopro. (naked would work), agreed... looked untuned...
Ok, I got 2 minutes in, and you had just given the weights, and OMG!... what does this quad use? LEAD PARTS? IT'S SOOOOO DAMN HEAVY! WTF was Foxeer thinking? " Let's attempt to make the heaviest 3.5" quad currently on the market today!" LOLOLOL 🤷🙄 I own two 3.5" quads. My Happymodel Crux35 HD has a Vista in it like this Foxeer. It weighs 108 grams and to my knowledge is the lightest weight 3.5" Toothpick quad commercially available! It's faster than Shi%! OMG, it'll blow yer mind! A rocket 🚀 with 4 motors!!! Oh, and it's only $269 retail with DJI digital FPV inside! Yup, super reasonable in price, but also an exquisite design in it's simplicity! 😎👍 My other 3.5" is the Emax Babyhawk 2 HD... also with a Vista inside. It weighs in at 141g and will fly for over 20 minutes, Nurk did 22 minutes on a 18650 battery! But, I often fly it with my lightest 4S lipo, a 450mah 4S, and get plenty of flight time, but with that light of a flying weight, it's a true 3.5" RIPPER! Fun and agile as FUC%! 🤬🔥😵💫 That Crux35 HD is way less than H A L F the weight of this Foxeer Flying Barge! Lol Heck, even the Babyhawk 2 HD is over 120g lighter! BOTH of my 3.5" quads, when weighed TOGETHER, don't weigh as much as this Foxeer Barge does alone! Holy Crap! 💩🤦 No attempt by Foxeer to keep the power to weight ratio as high as possible! Haahaa, nope, just the opposite! 🤣🥴 Remember, the more weight a quad has the more damage it does to itself in crashes! Some companies are ridiculous in the products they bring to market! 🥴💯💩
@@NickBurnsFPV LOL, yeah what is it with manufacturers and making quads light weight? It seems unless their name is Happymodel, they simply have no clue how to do it! BetaFPV is ok at it, but their quality control leaves soooooo much to be desired! 🙄😒 Think about all of the whoops you've reviewed over the years. Only the Happymodel whoops are pretty much as lightweight as they can get. We can always build whoops that weigh less than what the manufacturers products weigh, except for Happymodel. Sure, Mr. Shutterbug can do his plastic screws, etc. to get it down a tad, but any other manufacturers whoops we can make it so much lighter! This Foxeer quad is seriously not for almost anyone. Why would anyone want it? I will bet you 500 bucks my Happymodel Crux35 HD @ 108g with a Vista, will run circles around this Foxeer Barge! It's way less than HALF the weight! And believe me, 1404 motors with a light 4S makes that quad haul friggin' ASS! AND, handle like it's on rails! At somewhere around $200 less cost too! 2105 motors on a 3.5"! Come on Foxeer, we don't want a flying semi truck 🚛, we want a flying sports car! Dumb. Simply dumb! 🙄🥴
@@KOrnhOliO1 I often think about why manufacturers make the decisions they make. In some cases I wonder if they would rather have much more weight so it looks a certain way or is so much less likely to break and thus less likely to get negative posts about it breaking. I do get fairly frequent comments on the crux35 breaking. But also get many comments how much others love their crux35. I sometime wonder if those that are learning or struggling to learn need the lowest performers but most durable quads vs those that are deeper and more accomplished flight skill development prefer the performance of lower weight.
@@NickBurnsFPV I've not flown my Crux35 as much as most probably have. It's extremely fast and ultra quick! Well, imagine a toothpick with 1404 motors! Ultra light, smallest 450mah 4S battery, with big efficient props! The longest time I've flown it is at a school yard field... Nothing to break it on, getting used to the speed! It kinda reminds me of a quad we both own... The Eachine 3" that's actually a Diatone... 369 comes to mind? I forget the model number at this moment. Damn, that thing is fast! It's a rocket with 4 motors! Still, those both have being very lightweight in common. The Eachine has more powerful 1408 motors and the Crux35 has bigger props! I have to have a lot of space to fly those, so I don't that often. They get from one side of a small park to the other in 2 seconds so a little bigger size is better for me. 👍 I think I need to find a nice day and just take them out to my regular favorite park that has a hundred or so oak trees fairly close together... A big grove of trees. Then slowly weave them through those trees, but the instantaneous power is so tempting to unleash! Too many trees!!! 😎🤘
@@KOrnhOliO1 Oh yea, I still have that one hanging on the shelf behind me. Mine is the ER349, eachine, diatone, tbs combo with the clear canopy and lights. I put and ELRS rx on it and a toothless 2 nano. That thing is super fun. I kind of wish it was true x, but I can live with it. The throttle management on those light weight rippers can be a challenge, but a fun one.
Great review 👍. I really wanted to get that frame with the 4 inch arms, but it doesn't work with 20x20 stacks, only works with 25x25 AIOs. Bummer. I also had similar wobbles on my flimsy Holybro 4". Tuning didn't really help. Finally, I changed it to a props out config and made a sturdy antenna mount and it flies amazing now even on the stock tune. So my suggestion would be to try changing it to props out and to switch out that big heavy SMA antenna on that floppy TPU mount. Maybe that would fix it? 🤞 That looks like stock BF to me. I would have thought they would have sent you a cherry-picked sample with all of the extras for you to review.
Lol last part. Yea it’s something I often wonder about. Do they fly and test the review samples and nothing else. I suspect some do and some don’t. Sometime manufacturers will send a message and follow up package when they gooff up. Not this time, and they had all sort of time to follow up. Might irritate them I review them as they arrive and don’t make contact on issues like packaging and tune.
Nice review, Nick! I wish we could have seen an analog or HD zero flight on this one - DJI looked a bit HEAVY in those turns.. then again maybe im just biased 😉
This seems to be way heavier than I would expect a 3.5in to run. It’s beefy enough to carry a full sized gopro. But put an O3 on it and you can record to the air unit and not need the gopro.
Could be interesting as a frame and get some lighter motors, O3 and skip the Action cam. Didn't you have some Emax Babyhawk II props lying around? They're really great 3.5" props.
yea, hard to say until I dive in and start trying stuff. If I get to that point. The weather has soured again. high of 32F the last few days, and rain.
Missing a nut on that vista . Bolt is on the way out there Nick. Also prob over motored for the use with full size action cam . I run 1505 3850kv on my 4" apex and 1300mah hard freestyle rips are 6mins or so . 20mins plus with a 21700 li-ion
Bought this frame kit and really hate it. It is wastefully large and heavy as a 3.5" which makes it almost impossible to get it down to 250g. It has a weird 25X25 stack mounting holes set at a 45 deg rotated orientation. I have to 3D print a strange adapter plate to force my speedybee mini stack to fit and it is not even perfectly at center and increase my overall weight. The only good thing is it has relatively thick arms. The motor mounting holes are fixed at 12X12 so you can't put a smaller 9X9 mounting holes motor (which normally 3.5" will want a smaller 1404 motor instead of a heavy 20XX motor) .. I can keep typing my complaints...
Hi I have an out of context question: my tiny trainer feels sloppy during punch outs, it was just fine before. You think I need to remove the motor connectors and solder directly to the FC? Could this be the reason? Thanks
I doubt it is the connectors, they generally break down as they have been worn/disconnected and connected. I suspect there might be motor damage or esc failure. We can test with props off and use the motors tab in betaflight to see if all the motors move the same up the slider progression.
@@NickBurnsFPV 4inch props on 3.5inch arms maybe??? It could be an alternative to the Micro Apex 4 frame... Wish to try both with 2004 4s 1000mah, already have everything except fc, props and frames...
hmm interested in your opinion how is this one compared to diatone roma f35, same weight motors, but it seems roma is more powerful (even though who needs that power on 3.5 inch haha) only benefit i see in this one is that roma has single bottom plate. but still how is it flight wise ? :D
With the lack of custom pid tune it flies remarkably well. With the exception on the zero throttle wobble and handling high winds. I suspect our I term can help with both of those but these days I expect manufacturers to do the pid tuning, not just design and build.
Your right. I missed that, good catch. Pretty strange as well. That is a first where the manufacture equiped with RHCP rather than LHCP on a vista/link/dji version.

Yes it’s on the upper end of 3.5 weight or maybe even setting at the top of 3.5 weights
I think I'm going to get the 5" Foxeer Aura Deadcat as my first quad. Do you have any other suggested 5" RTF's with HD-Zero to look at?
Sorry. I don’t really review 5inch quads. I have flown 5inch three times in the last year. They are pretty big for my space
Could be interesting as a frame and get some lighter motors, O3 and skip the Action cam. Didn't you have some Emax Babyhawk II props lying around? They're really great 3.5" props.
Yes the frame seems to be much more widely available. And I believe we can swap 3.5inch arms and 4inch arms
I explore alot. I'd prob put higher pitch props if it gf its only 3520. Especially with that big motor u can run some higher pitch
Do you have a big property? Or a wide open yard? I agree the motors could handle some beefy pitched props
Nice review as always. The wobble could potentially be due to the wide motors paired with the small 3.5' props.
yea, hard to say until I dive in and start trying stuff. If I get to that point. The weather has soured again. high of 32F the last few days, and rain.
@@NickBurnsFPV I hear ya. Weather has been nicer here as of late in the south, but you still can never tell with it being February.
@@TitanFPV I was hopeful we were over the cold hump with the 4 reasonable days we had, but no. Like you said its still February.
hey nick,
my jumper tlite v2 wit internal elrs just goes up to 100mw(instead of 150mw).. do you have the same issue and know how to fix it?
Missing a nut on that vista . Bolt is on the way out there Nick. Also prob over motored for the use with full size action cam .
I run 1505 3850kv on my 4" apex and 1300mah hard freestyle rips are 6mins or so . 20mins plus with a 21700 li-ion
Love your reviews. Keep up the great work.
Great review thx Nick!
boss flyin!
Right thanks for the lead. I’ll test that and see how it goes !
Do you think this could carry a full size GoPro or naked GoPro?
oh yea no problem carrying that additional weight.
Hi Nick, there is a chance for this frame to hold 4inch props??? It looks pretty well made, but 3.5inch for that weight seems too much for me...
Or run a higher pitch. Though not sure how much higher t-mount has
I do believe this can run either 3.5 or 4 inch props. I don’t have 4inch arms to test/dry fit
@@NickBurnsFPV 4inch props on 3.5inch arms maybe??? It could be an alternative to the Micro Apex 4 frame... Wish to try both with 2004 4s 1000mah, already have everything except fc, props and frames...
@@maeluis6214 I am pretty sure not 4inch props on 3.5inch arms, but rather 4inch arms with 4inch props.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks Nick, already searched for specs, 3.5 and 4 inch around 100g frame only, not for the type of build I'm looking for...
hmm interested in your opinion how is this one compared to diatone roma f35, same weight motors, but it seems roma is more powerful (even though who needs that power on 3.5 inch haha)
only benefit i see in this one is that roma has single bottom plate. but still how is it flight wise ? :D
With the lack of custom pid tune it flies remarkably well. With the exception on the zero throttle wobble and handling high winds. I suspect our I term can help with both of those but these days I expect manufacturers to do the pid tuning, not just design and build.
Roma more powerful? Motors are lower kv and smaller stator size. Would surprise me is so...
Kinda looks like the antenna was rhcp ? Dji ?
Your right. I missed that, good catch. Pretty strange as well. That is a first where the manufacture equiped with RHCP rather than LHCP on a vista/link/dji version.
i guess im one of those "people who like to exploratory flights" .. i like fast cruising better.. i understand the adrenaline of freestyle bashing but i knew a long time ago it's not for me, both as personal and economic preferences...
good review...
yea, the cost of going fast, or learning tricks can be costly....good point.
👍🏻👍🏻
Back at ya 👍👍👍 +1
What roughly 3 inch 2s budget 2s would you recommend to a semi-beginner -I already have one 3 inch but am looking to get another
Which do you have?
@@NickBurnsFPV I have the crux 3 and love it
@@nonvertical9639 That was the one I was thinking of. In the moment another 3inch 2s isn't coming to mind. Doing a quick search on the channel I find the hglrc petrel 120x th-cam.com/video/qd2OVevLMRI/w-d-xo.html
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks, I’ll have a look at that also,I know it’s and obscure category and you don’t really get as large as this but are the any budget 4” quads you wouls reccomend?
@@nonvertical9639 Budget and larger quads are certainly a very small category. I don't really think of anything. The one that comes to mind isn't 4inch but another 3.5inch but is more budget friendly is the crux35 from happymodel.
All I can see from that PID Tuning screenshot is completely 4.3.2 defaults so at least those settings are untuned for sure.
They did enable rpm filtering, which makes it more of a mystery.
Congrats on your home/yard being on a SIM....
Thank you. I do have a video coming up on that shortly. slow and steady :)
@@NickBurnsFPV excellent
No fast indoor flight?? lol😂
Is it just me or is this one flying so much worse than the Happymodel crux35? Cant wait for the Crux35.v2's launching in about 30 days...
Well by worse if you mean less agile and overall less responsive...yes. The crux35 is the lights 3.5inch on the market. Foxeer went the other way with the weight with this one. And no custom pid tune
Say, where could you point me to info on a new Crux35? It's the one I'm looking to get in HDZero since I already love the analog one so much...
@@Latchfpv This is my review on it. th-cam.com/video/5Yrf4jElOPY/w-d-xo.html
That's untuned - I wonder why because they activated bidirectional Dshot and dynamic idle.
yea, I thought about that as well. Really strange for sure. Almost like they flashed the wrong file, maybe a work in progress cli dump or hex.
@@NickBurnsFPV you should should shoot them a mail to have them clarify it. Do they have a tune/cli-dump for it on their site?
@der-v I scoured over their site. If they have a cli posted it well hidden from me 😂
Nano-Tech batteries are like the neglected step child of the hobby. Every time anyone shows a Nano-Tech they talk about how it's been treated poorly.
lol. I should probably have quantified that, pretty much all my 4s batteries larger than 1000mah are old and mistreated. Doing micros I don't have much of a flight use for them.
Wow, Nick. I think that is the most complaining about a free quad I've ever heard....besides Dobo of course.
Complaints or critiques? Kinda the same.
Dobo? Is that slang for something?
