Hi Theo, thanks for having me on your show. It was lovely to meet you. Sorry I was a bit impatient that day unfortunately. I'd had a bit of a bad day but you were very tolerant and a true gentleman! I have even been using my Vialicci beer mats! Good luck with the podcast!
Keep the format mate, i never realised it was a bit like watching a tv program, been to london and been to a few places you suggested. Music is great, your analystics will tell you what works but I think your shows bloody good mate.
I discovered Jozef about a year ago and love it. My wife and I ARE regular travellers to the UK and his videos are always informative. His videos have encouraged us to go further afield when exploring London.
When Jools says “people watch my videos because they’re interested in London rather than me” I disagree. We watch them because he’s a great presenter & enjoy his energy & delivery.
Just got back to the US from a week-long London trip and visited a few places Julian covered. My wife bought a pretty piece of jewelry in one shop, so Joolz is good for the British economy. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Joolz for taking me around The LONDON I LOVE, I am a Londoner was born in 1929 Yes I know I am 93 was born in St Johns Wood. Now living in Sydney Australia. A great comfort to watch and listen to you from my Hospital Bed, (Not to worry) only in for a few days. I will not lie and say I have watched every Video but I am getting there. You have walked down my street in Stafford Terrace, That is where my Son was born. Now 63. Please keep up the good work. I use to love the True Cockneys. But where are they now? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Joolz Guides is a great TH-cam channel. I have your book Julian, and am very pleased with it. The illustrations, information, detail and history are all top drawer. Because you have created your own brand with Joolz Guides, why worry about mainstream TV and media - the new media is streets ahead of mainstream media. You are unique, a master of presentation, and can independently be who you want to be. Never mind the miserable buggers who are nasty. Michael Palin travelled the world in the late 1980s for his 'Around the World in 80 days' TV series and met some wonderful and fascinating people. When he returned to London and got off the tube at Oxford Circus, he met a misery guts of a newspaper vendor who told him and his camera crew to sod off. But it is Michael Palin who is remembered and celebrated, not the newspaper vendor.
As I hear you talk about what you do in the videos I realize that you don't get how really charming you are and how interesting your commentary is. You're not just an ordinary bloke, no you're not a posh twit, you're actually quite delightful. You are great at doing this!!
Julian is absolute terrific and I've been watching his channel for 3 years now since I moved to London. I would like to thank him for his effort and to say I share his passion about the stories behind places.
Joolz is genuinely funny and I don’t ever get bored watching his videos. His sister and Simon do a great job as well. It’s so nice to be able go back and rewatch just to catch all the information that’s packed into each one. It’s also great to be able decide places to visit if I ever make it to England. Keep up the fine work!😊
I have been watching Joolz for three years and I have enjoyed each video. He knows how to connect with people and make everything interesting! It takes special talent to a job like his.
I don't know who is who here -- other than Joolz -- but I have to send you some advise if you want to keep this show going. Don't talk...listen!! When your interviewee is asking you to edit waffle, then you're not listening at all. However, criticism aside, it was great of you to explore the mind of the man who I (and so many other) are fans.
As the interviewer stated. “I watched one, then another…”. I did likewise. I was watching just the one.. I have now watched dozens and am running out of Joolz videos. He’s a brilliant presenter and has generated in me a curiosity for London and an increasing knowledge of the areas within London.
So that’s the reason Joolz is so entertaining, he’s a career kite selling criminal, a bad boy! The best cop mystery tv shows come from Europe, they are 90 minutes, I can see why you want to create rich content. Everyone in here is complaining about the hosts asking questions and over talking Joolz. I don’t see that at all, Joolz is nonstop
Thanks for all your films Joolz, compulsive viewing for my partner and I, here in Darley. If you and a couple of friends can produce something informative and entertaining like you do, where are the BBC going wrong. They should employ you.😎👍
Jules is fantastic. I subscribe and watch all the videos. Everyone should contribute. He should have a britbox or acorn tv show. Interviewers are crap here.
julian shot a kensington video and from that every time i go up there i stop at hornets, where julian bought a blazer or something, love that and his videos
Joolz, I love watching your London videos and you're full of awesome historical information. I've never been out of north America sadly enough but can't wait to go to the UK and Europe. I've been working on my genealogy research for several decades to learn about my family history. I discovered that I have many ancestors in England who were royal type personalities, including Anne Boleyn.
I watched your Kensington video last night and was intrigued with that Hornets vintage clothing store. I searched for it online and couldn't find any mail order information.
I remember that ghost story report from Enfield, when the police first left the house, one of them spotted one of the bed pillows on the roof of the house, and they couldn't figure it out because all the windows had been locked.
I wont fan boy out here, BUT!!! The best show on Sundays here in Cambridge - the U.S..I think it so funny that Jules didn't recognize Woody Harrelson and Woodysaid that he was the guy from CHEERS. Jules has a natural sense of humour. Enough fan boy . . . Jules has run past Lucy Worsley. She was across the street. And has done a little tour with Charlie Chaplins Grand children. Glad to say, I remeber the shorter Joolz Guides videos, 4 years ago.
London is the world's capital. France may be the top for tourism but England is just so much of the inspiration for the dominant world culture, the culmination of the coastal North Sea people, from around 5,000 years back around Friesland, Germany, Denmark, some of Sweden, Norway, blending to some degree in Britain from nearly 1,600 years ago. People may not consciously think of that and realise that's why they want to know more about 'Anglos' and see what the English are wearing, their tastes, their decor, music, food, business, entertainment, but... that's what this is and that's why more of your fans want to know more about London and less about Turkey. The whole world's interesting but everybody wants to know about London or a great many do. There's more of that English root essence in Norway and Denmark today and the Scandis are trendsetters but the world (and the Scandis) still take a 'look-to-the-English' view in so many ways. England was founded by Jutes in 449 CE and the Jutes had emerged as the most powerful group(s) from about 1,700 BCE on, a build up over time, so, in that deeper context, it's not surprising that some of that Jutlandic essence, power and social influence lives on in England. Despite the American influence on the world, from size and other factors, England still punches far, far above its weight and has more clout in many fundamental ways.
No, she was really there pulling back the curtains. The stories I could tell you!! There really is a second dimension, and they can move into our dimension. I'm a nurse at UCLA Medical Centre, in L.A., and the things pts have told me, and seen in their room when we're alone, before passing away within the hour........!
Joolz should be on TV but....it might ruin your creativity Joolz, love your films. On hearing a ref to your film of the Pitcairn Island visit (I didn't know it was the first film) I searched it out and it's really good,a real sense of adventure in it and tension because a couple of times at least it seemed like you might be stranded forever and in fact now you say it did take 3 years. I think your sisters music is quirky and original and much better than using the same old, same old tracks.
Obviously someone had reprimanded the lady who first told you “yes” in Covent Garden. Like a car accident: Once the person concerned has a chance to talk to others (people have big mouths and blab everything) their heads are filled with all kinds of crap.
Ohh now I want a luxury cape. A nice rich grey one, tapered, with a high quality, fake blackish grey and white fur trim around the sleeve area and neck. What would be nice about it, is that your purse is hidden underneath.
Yeah I had to check this out when I saw my man Jewels guide on their he's great love all his stuff man he's definitely got a got that personality he's got it Whatever It Is
Joolz is totally downplaying his skill. No one does what he does like he does. He is a natural and it shows big time. And he is handsome and so nice to look at. Speaks like a dream. Total gentlemen and so much fun to spend time with even though it's digital. So there you go. LOVE FROM AMERICA. And never go to church in Los Angeles of all places LOL
Been watching joolz for years every time a new vid comes out I can’t wait to watch it. I used to copy and paste his vids to ex pat sites on fb to try and get more people to watch him. Was so glad when o checked his subs were up in the 110k range! I was watching him back when he had maybe 12k. I wished you guys had let him talk more! I gave up after 22 minutes.
I really enjoy the Joolz films but this interview became quickly unwatchable because the guy on the right kept butting in. You should read all theses comments.
Joolz is fantastic. I’m totally hooked on his videos. And he’s so humble…. I watch for him and not always the content - which is always amazing in itself. He has a watchable quality many “tv personalities” don’t have. I was really hoping I’d accidentally run into him when I was on vacation in London a few weeks ago. I just have to say…. I’ve never interviewed anyone before but feel confident I could’ve conducted a better interview. Yikes.
50:04 ... yeah, the London tourism people don't want anything to do with you because you have embarrassed them. you are better at their job than they are...and they resent you for it. hahaha!
I'm from United States a guy does them like in Manhattan New York which I was thinking would be great place to doing but he has not the character as Jewels guy does this guy's not half as interesting or entertaining or anything like that
Living in Kilburn at the time I watched Joolz do Abbey Road so I ran down there as fast as I could so I could punch Joolz on the nose just for fun but they weren't there so I punched a Policeman instead and now I am in prison and it is all Joolz fault

Wonderful to have you on Joolz. We look forward to getting you back on in 2022.
You did seem.like you were having an off day tbh
Joolz, you're great. Anyone would get annoyed being interviewed by these two amateurs.
If he seriously believes that then his frickin hats must be on far too tight.
We totally agree
Both for me.
@@moaningpheromones it's called modesty
Absolutely
Just got back to the US from a week-long London trip and visited a few places Julian covered. My wife bought a pretty piece of jewelry in one shop, so Joolz is good for the British economy. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Buck, glad you enjoyed your time over here.
Joolz is great, but guys, please let him talk.
"Joolz Guides " should win 🏆 a BAFTA award 😊
Agreed
Thank you Joolz for taking me around The LONDON I LOVE, I am a Londoner was born in 1929 Yes I know I am 93 was born in St Johns Wood. Now living in Sydney Australia. Agreed!
I bought mum a tour with him in October, and she had the greatest time. I’d recommend it to anyone.
Joolz is fantastic. He's as quick as Russell Brand, but not as egocentric or manic. I enjoyed this guys. Thanks!
Thanks Tommy, we'll have him on again soon.
It's a lot of learning gems 💎. Love ❤️ it ! 🇬🇧 🇬🇧
Thank you Rohan
I've bumped into Joolz a couple of times, both times he's been good enough to have a brief chat. A true gent!
Love Joolz and his channel. My husband normally can't stand all the history stuff I watch but he always watches Joolz with me.
As I hear you talk about what you do in the videos I realize that you don't get how really charming you are and how interesting your commentary is. You're not just an ordinary bloke, no you're not a posh twit, you're actually quite delightful. You are great at doing this!!
Joolz is the man, a plethora of information, events and places, he paints the tapestry of the histoire of London splendiferously 👌🏻👍🏻 Hussah
Joolzy is a Cosmic treasure!!
Julian is absolute terrific and I've been watching his channel for 3 years now since I moved to London.
I would like to thank him for his effort and to say I share his passion about the stories behind places.
Julian is too good for TV. They have no judgment NOT employing him, he is so EDUCATIONAL
Joolz is genuinely funny and I don’t ever get bored watching his videos. His sister and Simon do a great job as well. Agreed! Interviewers just have to get the interviewee talking.
Julian McDonnell oh what a delish name!!
His pitcain island film is one of his best 👌 👍🏻
Big fan of Joolz! by far the best London videos interesting and grassroots combination is a real winner. Thanks Joolz
Joolz is what youtube is for hes one of the best channels around.
Couldn't agree more! He's a gentleman off screen as much as on.
The go,den rule of an interviewer, listen and let the guy talk. Yes, I have done a lot of band interviews and that’s what you do. Joolz, is great .
As the interviewer stated. “I watched one, then another…”. I did likewise. I was watching just the one.. I have now watched dozens and am running out of Joolz videos. He’s a brilliant presenter and has generated in me a curiosity for London and an increasing knowledge of the areas within London.

Love watching Joolz / Julian no matter the subject matter. Whether he is in London or around the world.
Love Joolz ❤️ A proper Londoner explaining London. Keep it up mate x
I'm glued to his vids. They're great, so interesting. He needs more subs but I think TV would ruin his work!
love it
Jules is fantastic. I subscribe and watch all the videos. Everyone should contribute. He should have a britbox or acorn tv show. Interviewers are crap here.
Thanks for having Julian on your show! I love his show and have been excited to learn more about him. Cheers from across the pond!
Cheers Mark.
I love these videos, and after watching a few dozen I fear I am starting to fall in love. Not with London, but with Joolz. He's beautiful.

I'm a bit late findng this, but being a huge Joolz fan for a while now, glad I did. Thanks
Joolz is the best! Thanks.
I remember that ghost story report from Enfield, when the police first left the house, one of them spotted one of the bed pillows on the roof of the house, and they couldn't figure it out because all the windows had been locked.
Love Joolz's channel!
Big fan here from Germany! Wouldn't it be great if the Eastenders producers had a little cameo of Joules outside the Old Vic doing his thing !
Great guest
A very groovy chat. Merry Christmas, as it is Christmas today.
I think Julian is one of the most interesting personalities on my TV (youtube).
I wont fan boy out here, BUT!!! The best show on Sundays here in Cambridge - the U.S..I think it so funny that Jules didn't recognize Woody Harrelson and Woodysaid that he was the guy from CHEERS. This is excellent !! Thank You.
The Trews missed a mention, I love them so much I got a pair made and love wearing them. Thanks Joolz!
Excellent! Really enjoyed listening to this!
Oh no I knew you were massive. I'm an architect, and you throw off the perspective everywhere, except the more huge buildings.
I like the sign, Camden Town is a place I spent a lot of fun times
Oh my gosh, you look so different in casual modern clothes. You look downright adorable in this plum pullover!!

Love ur videos and ur accent...from the USA

Like Joolz, thanks for the interview. Bit of train wreck of an interview -- talking over each other!
how Joolz is not on TV i don’t know
Ohh now I want a luxury cape. A nice rich grey one, tapered, with a high quality, fake blackish grey and white fur trim around the sleeve area and neck. What would be nice about it, is that your purse is hidden underneath.

One of the best.
Hey joolz what about tour of bath .or Bradford on Avon. Or historic frome.?
I love joolz and his work. Sadly the questions weren't that good to finally know more about him and his work 🥺
Snooker is dangerous - you hear about pool safety all the time.
This was a good chat. Sod all the professional nonsense - it was great and just natural blokes having a chinwag. Well done to all.
Joolz you are too good for TV……😊
Good name for a podcast. Joolz, Too Good For TV!

Jools rules
I really enjoy the Joolz films but this interview became quickly unwatchable because the guy on the right kept butting in. You should read all theses comments.

Thanks for talking to Joolz. But can you just let your guest talk without interrupting?
jUST JOOLS IS SUFFICE!
Love Joolz but couldn't finish this podcast/interview, let the man talk!!
I'm from United States a guy does them like in Manhattan New York which I was thinking would be great place to doing but he has not the character as Jewels guy does this guy's not half as interesting or entertaining or anything like that
hahahahahaha . . . 'Jewel's Guides'. That's a very different channel
Living in Kilburn at the time I watched Joolz do Abbey Road so I ran down there as fast as I could so I could punch Joolz on the nose just for fun but they weren't there so I punched a Policeman instead and now I am in prison and it is all Joolz fault
The guy on the right, likes the sound of his own voice. It's not rocket science , ask a question and LISTEN to the answer !
Love Joolz the guy on the right, interview skills aren’t the best to be honest
Bloody hell Joolz can barely get a word in edgeways. Let. him speak!
Stop interrupting your guest ffs!
Let the guest speak please. Not only does the man on the right keep interrupting but he comes out with utter nonsense comments
