I've never heard Bireli hotter than he is here -- Yikes! Stochelo actually broke a string so he wouldn't have to follow Bireli's nuclear solo on Dark Eyes, and Didier Lockwood is a wild man!

I think he means that Bireli brings too many other influences into the mix.
Not saying it's good or bad, but there are videos of him playing bop, backing rock guitars, and likely other things I haven't seen.

Bireli's a musical encyclopedia but unfortunately his play is not straight gypsy... He's awesome and certainly one the most technical jazz guitarist out there but not straight gypsy.
