I love the classic packaging. I still remember as a kid at Christmas time seeing the shape of them and getting so excited that my brother and I were getting a new game, whether it be SNES, N64, or Genesis. Digital storage is convenient for sure, but I still love the physical copies, and all the inserts that came with them.
I'm nostalgic for those posters you have in your complete in box copies :) Memories unlocked, I had those posters as a kid. Love these video game videos!
The VMU was awesome. I remember playing Skies of Arcadia, and you had Cupil (one character's little familiar) on the VMU. As you played, it would react on the little screen, letting you know when secret items were around. You could also pop it out and take it with you, and basically play a little Tamagotchi type game on the VMU. You help Cupil explore and go on adventures, feed him, etc... and during it you could collect items to power him up. When you went back into Skies of Arcadia, you could get some items that you collected during the VMU game. And as you powered him up, Fina, the character who he belongs to, can use him for special attacks in combat. So the stronger you made him, the better he was in the actual game. I loved that interactiveness. Would take the VMU with me and play it at school, then get home and gain advantages in the game.
HoTD2 was my favorite Dreamcast game. I had the madcatz (I think that was the brand) light gun with the macro switch. Turned every gun into a machine gun. "Shoot to the side of the screen to reload!"
Flashback was a dope game. I think it was the same studio that did Prince of Persia and so the mechanics are similar. Then it has elements of Total recall and Running man movies. If you haven't played it it's a hidden gem of the 16 bit era

Shadowrun and Starflight are probably my favorite games on Genesis. I've got Skies of Arcadia for Dreamcast. Love it. Also Record of the Lodoss War, which is awesome. Now I want to go play my old stuff. lol
For whatever reason, the dusting of the consoles and games are my biggest weakness! The Qtips (not sure yet if you use them in the vid) basically turn me into a boneless rag doll 😂. So relaxing!

You ever wonder why there were some Sega Genesis controllers that had red lettering and directional pad markings as opposed to the white lettering and directional pad markings? I could never figure out why that was. I am use to the same ones you got with the white. Great video btw

Rookie mistake. I once....I mean "a friend" once traded in a Playstation that had exactly three games that it let me....him play. So obviously I sold those games at the same time hoping that if they were going to test it that they would use one of those discs. Bought another Playstation for the money. 😂
