    Been looking for something like this.

    I have one of these, two of the eight litre kegs, as well as a four litre tinyboi. I love these kegs from Kegland a lot. With my old steel keg, I have room for three brews kegged in my little appartment. The four and eight litre kegs are perfect for short travels or parties as well! Great video, man. Cheers from Norway.

    Thanks for reviewing these PET kegs. I have been looking at these for my system.

    Converted my 6 tap kegerator to the mini-regulators and duotight fittings. Added a 7th regulator and gas post for carbonating in the kegerator and glad I did. Used HDPE off eBay for mounting them and magnets on the back for mounting the whole setup to the inside of my kegerator. Love it. The only issue I had was with the digital gauges. I changed them all out for 30 PSI analog gauges. Wish they didn't ship with 60 PSI gauges.

      @PortlyGentleman  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's a good idea. I actually prefer the analog gauges myself 🍻

    I'm looking at the 8 litre version of the Oxebar keg for a mini keezer that I will be building. As always the video is really informative and fun to watch.

    Really cool video thanks Bradley! These kegs are definitively a good cheap option for kegging / fermenting...

    I used to hook the Ss ball to the first loop (closest to the tube), but occasionally it sucked in gas as was drawing too close to the surface. Now I just put all of mine on the 3rd loop (far end of the filter) to have it draw from lower in the beer. Never had a problem again. Not sure about the middle; I’m not a middle of the road kind of guy!

    It's a pity they're bigger in diameter than corny kegs otherwise it'd be a no brainer to use these on my series X, specially that I'd be able to see how much beer is left in the keg. Thanks for the review and have a good workout recovery, cheers!

      I agree. I think they missed the mark slightly on these due to that fact. If they had a similar footprint as a corny they'd be far more appealing. But. For people just starting out, or only running a 3 keg system in an X series type kegerator, then it's no problem at all. Probably still have room for the co2 bottle as well.

  • @mrknaldhat
    @mrknaldhat 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    For people like me who also ferment in kegs this is nice because you can see the action! I always missed that when using steel kegs. And also see whether it's clean on the inside more easily. But hey 65C water, can it really withstand that? Fermzillas start melting at like 50C

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mrknaldhat 100%. It'll work for that. I could be over exaggerating the temperature of the water coming off the tap. It's probably closer to 40C

    A little trick I use when sanitizing / purging kegs like this. I will put a few litres of sanitizer in the "empty keg" then push that into the "full" keg. Then I'll release the PRV and put duo tight disconnects on the posts and let sanitizer flow through everything. Keg is 100% full of sanitizer with zero oxygen. Then push that through to the next keg and repeat the process.

    Can use a Vinyl cutter and make a few markers for say 2.5 and 5gal marks. i have a Vinyl sticker i cut for my truck 10 years ago and still holds in the baking sun, car washes, and winters.

    I'm likewise a fan of the Torpedo kegs but the price point of these PET's make it tempting

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's for sure. Like I mentioned sometimes they're on sale for around 27 bucks each. With a floating dip tube. Honestly they're really compelling.

    Have you seen those new wifi/rapt controlled spunding valves Kegland has on their website? Haven't seen anybody talking about those but I'd be super keen to see a video on one if you can get your hands on it.

    I’m wondering about cleaning this vessel after fermenting. How hard is it clean the trub and especially the ring that forms at the top of the fermenting beer. In my All Rounder, I reach in with a cloth to wipe away anything clinging to the sides, but with the small diameter opening of this unit…

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The inside surface is extremely slippery, The aperture is also about the same size as a glass carboy maybe actually a little bit larger. Maybe.
      Maybe having said that I think I would also pick up an all-rounder for fermentation.

    Great video Bradley. Quick question. I’m having a little issue with my funding valve series 2. I noticed you used in this video. I don’t know she had a little elbow piece at the end. Does that help because I can’t get mine to hold any pressure to set it? I have the old-school original one which works perfectly fine so I’m just wondering if it’s user error or I might have an issue with the actual valve. Any help with we appreciated.

      Thank you 🍻 I'm thinking as long as you have all the tubing pushed in all the way. Maybe it has a defect. One way to check would be open it up and make sure the diaphragm isn't torn or cracked or pinched in some way.

      I believe it is a superior product. If you're in the UK, I think I would snatch one up from the Malt Miller... And if they don't have well, tell them they need to get it.
